We are seeking talented and experienced Highway/Traffic Engineer to join our Bus Team at Transport for Greater Manchester as Bus Traffic Planning lead; working closely with the 10 Greater Manchester Council Highway Teams and our internal delivery teams contributing towards ensuring our buses operated efficiently and effectively on the highway network.

Your Role

As a Traffic Planning Lead, you will be working in a highly adaptive and busy environment. You will be representing TfGM’s Bus Team at both internal design panels and external meetings. You will also undertake site visits and data analysis, identifying and developing appropriate highway solutions to assist buses.

You’ll have an eye for detail and adherence to technical standards, whilst working in partnership with stakeholder to resolve highway issues as part of a multi-disciplinary team that develops bus priority and related infrastructure schemes (including new interchanges).

Who Are We?

The Bus Network Management Team are the traffic/highway engineering experts within our Bus Team. We are the key interface between the 10 Greater Manchester Council Highway Teams with the remit to minimise the impact of both permanent and temporary traffic management schemes on our buses and seeking to implement bus priority improvements. Internally we work extensively with our Highways, Projects Group and Strategy Teams to provide technical expertise as part of multi-disciplinary project teams (for all transport modes). As well as working extensively with the Greater Manchester bus operators.

Your role:

Would you like to support Greater Manchester’s Housing First ambitions? Are you interested in housing or the built environment policy and evidence, with a passion for research and analysis?

We are looking for a Lead Analyst to join the GMCA Research Team, working on our housing research programme. Key areas of responsibility will be supporting the Housing First programme developing the evidence base for the three pillars: supply, support and standards. The right person will be confident with mixed methods analysis and have experience of evaluation. A keen interest or experience of housing either through working in the housing sector or research relating to housing would be a bonus.

As a member of the housing and planning research team, you will also work closely with the Place Directorate at the GMCA on broader projects that look to support the delivery of Housing First, including the Good Landlord Charter, housing growth ambitions and the delivery of net zero homes. Alongside the housing-specific focus of this role, as a member of the wider GMCA Research Team, you will join a team of other Analysts, Lead Analysts and Principals with opportunities to collaborate on cross-sector projects.

Please note, the Lead Analyst Role Profile is structured against a progression framework that allows Lead Analysts to progress from Grades 6 to 8. Our expectation is to recruit at Grade 7 (£36,648 - £40,221), but candidates who meet the requirements of the progression framework at Grade 6 or 8 will be considered, dependent on the skills, knowledge and experience that they demonstrate against the key aspects of the role as detailed below.

The City Council is looking for two enthusiastic & dynamic Senior Project Managers, to help deliver our ambitious new Housing Strategy.

With a target of 36,000 new homes, including 10,000 new affordable homes, Manchester has set an ambitious target for new housing growth. In order to help us deliver our Strategy, we are seeking to appoint two experienced Senior Project Managers to coordinate and deliver a series of affordable housing projects in neighbourhoods in the North and South of the city. The main purpose of these roles is to plan and help deliver various affordable housing developments across Manchester, whilst ensuring operational delivery and optimising service performance.

Upscaling affordable housing delivery is a key element of our drive to deliver inclusive growth. We are embarking upon game-changing investment in our localities, high street and commercial centres. Clearly, affordable housing has a key role to play – helping to create new and inclusive low and zero carbon neighbourhoods across Manchester.

Based in the Strategic Housing team, the Senior Project Managers will play a leading role within the Growth & Development Directorate – set up to drive sustainable economic growth and the transformation of the city - coordinating work externally with Registered Providers through MHPP (the Manchester Housing Providers Partnership) and with private developers in conjunction with Development, Legal and Planning teams within MCC.

About the role - The role will be responsible for:

• Ensuring the successful delivery of key strategic affordable housing projects in line with our Housing Strategy commitment to build 10,000 new affordable homes in the period to 2022
• Negotiating funding / investment opportunities with public and private partners including working with Homes England and other Government departments to help attract external funding to key projects in the city
• Identifying suitable land and property opportunities and working with colleagues on the disposal of MCC land for affordable housing
• Managing project risks & constraints, scrutinising development appraisals, coordinating the required project resources and managing professional teams
• Monitoring and reporting on performance indicators in line with our strategic objectives
• Working with stakeholders to support affordable housing growth – principally with MHPP and other developer partners
• Engaging colleagues and wider stakeholders to ensure that objectives and activities are aligned with wider strategic objectives and activities to promote the growth and development of Manchester

Main purpose of the job:

The post holder is required to fulfil the professional responsibilities which are common to all classroom teachers in the school, as outlined in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document.

These detail the professional and particular duties required of teachers, together with requirements for management time, working time, guaranteed planning and preparation time. The school complies with these requirements in order to make reasonable demands of teachers.

The post holder’s key responsibilities will be improving the standards of learning and raising levels of student achievement for all students in their care.

Project Officer (Development & Regeneration)

12 month FTC

Based at Bolton Council

Your role:

• The primary purpose of the role will be to support the continued development of Bolton's pipeline of regeneration schemes of which Health Innovation Bolton (HIB) and Crompton Place will be a key focus.

• The successful candidate will support the development and delivery of Bolton Council's economic growth and regeneration objectives and will therefore require good knowledge of urban regeneration and the development cycle, experience of working in this sector and knowledge of the commercial cycle and procurement processes.

• The role will involve working with Senior Managers from across GM's public sector including Bolton Council, GMCA and Local Authority and partner organisations. It will also require engagement with external stakeholders including private developer partners, consultant teams, local town centre businesses and government departments.

• This is a 12 month fixed-term contract post. The successful candidate will be seconded to Bolton Council and will be based at Bolton Town Hall.

About you:

• The successful candidate will have experience of project coordination and management in a relevant public or private sector role. This will include building workflows, budget monitoring, data control and handling, and monitoring the achievement of contractually agreed outcomes.

• Given the focus of the role, applicants are preferred to have a recognised qualification in Urban Regeneration (or a related field), or Project Management. They will also have sound knowledge of Local Government, key funding programmes, publicly funded projects and funder requirements.

• The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and will be able to work effectively as both part of a team and independently to meet tight deadlines.

• The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and a strong commitment to delivering high quality work at pace.
