Taking Teaching Further

West Thames College is working in partnership with Taking Teaching Further (TTF).

TTF provides funding to support FE providers to recruit and provide early career support to those with the relevant knowledge and industry experience to retrain as FE teachers. Funding supports recruitment across the 15 technical routes, the core skills that underpin good technical education (English and maths) and for recruits who will provide support to students with special educational needs and disabilities.

TTF is a two-year programme and funding is provided to cover the cost of recruits undertaking a teaching qualification, the provider to deliver mentoring support, and to allow the recruits to have a reduced timetable by covering the costs of backfilling.

For TTF 2023, we are piloting a financial incentive for recruits, which is available in addition to the TTF support offer, for TTF recruits who are recruited to teach in some of the most hard-to-fill subjects (digital; construction and the built environment; engineering and manufacturing; and maths). Eligible recruits will receive a £6,000 incentive payment: £3,000 at the end of year one of the programme and £3,000 at the end of year two of the programme.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Property Lawyer / Solicitor will include:


Departmental

• Provide specialist legal advice and carry out legal work on behalf of the in house client

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As the Property Lawyer / Solicitor you will have the following:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent with relevant post graduate qualification to enable practice at solicitor/CILEx fellow level

• A qualified lawyer (solicitor or CILEx fellow equivalent) with experience in practice – in house and/or private practice

• A strong property background with good working knowledge of all legal tenures, in particular those relating to social housing, Landlord and Tenant

• Clear analytical skills, with the ability to process large amounts of information into effective legal proceedings

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, a confident negotiator, with an ability to influence at all levels and explain and put complex legal and technical terms into practical workable solutions

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Security Officer who will work in various of our sites in the Hackney Area, who will demonstrate and deliver high quality guarding and customer service to both our clients and service users.
We require Officers to be SIA licenced and willing to work in environments such as Local government buildings, estates and corporate sites and able to stand for a long period of time. Officers must be flexible in hours and in the approach to daily duties.
Information:

Position: Security Response Officer
Location: Various sites within Hackney
Pay Rate: £13.15
Hours: Guaranteed 24 hours per week - Average 40 hours per week
Shifts: Various days, nights & weekends

Job Role / Requirements:

SIA Licence required
Security Experience is required
Must be flexible and be able to work days, nights, weekends and have the flexibility to change due to operational needs at very short notice
Must have good command of English Language
Good communication both written & verbal
Good levels of customer service at all times
Flexible in the approach to daily duties and additional events when held on site.
Maintains working knowledge of the locations & security & safety for assigned areas
Flexible in the approach to daily duties –long periods of standing patrolling, reception duties, access control, lock ups
First Aid qualification & a CCTV SIA Licence is a bonus
Must have five years of checkable work history
Must have the ability to travel around Hackney

Cloud IT Security Specialist

Central London - Contract - £650-£775 per day (inside IR35)

Background:

We're seeking an accomplished Cloud IT Security Specialist to join our exceptional client, working in a secure on-site environment to drive major business, process and technical transformation across their complex organisation. This role will require you to undergo security clearance prior to taking-up your assignment.

What will I be doing?

* Working with Development Teams and Technical/Security Architects to design Cloud-based applications and infrastructures, including providing specialist advice to design authorities on requirements and best practice designs to achieve and maintain required levels of assurance

* Reviewing Cloud architectures from a confidentiality, integrity and availability perspective

* Advising on business-specific requirements to manage information risks

* Monitoring changes to live Cloud deployments, challenging where appropriate, and assessing implications for assurance status

* Working in a Dev-Rel capacity across Engineering teams to provide Cloud Security Point-of-Contact, and support Site Reliability Engineer and Cloud Security Champion roles

* Providing Security Subject Matter Expert advice on Cloud Security Controls, and review Cloud offerings against business security requirements

What experience, qualifications and aptitudes will I need?

* Demonstrable experience in AWS Cloud Security Architecture design, threat modelling, and the implementation of Cloud Security Controls; specifically in relation to migrating on-premise workloads to the Cloud with a focus on security

* Experience in reviewing Cloud migration strategies for Cloud, On-Prem, and Hybrid models

* Understanding of NCSC Cloud Guidance, Principles and Good Practice guides, coupled with the ability to apply them pragmatically and in line with the needs of the business

* Able to facilitate Threat Modelling workshops with multidisciplinary teams, and produce relevant outputs

* In collaboration with security architects, able to assess the level of technical capability of potential threat actors and to review Cloud security risk assessments

* Relevant qualifications (e.g. NCSC Certified Cyber Professional (CCP); (ISC)2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); Certified Information Security Manager (CISM); Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) ISO 27001; Lead Auditor and/or Implementer COMPTIA Security+; CREST / Tigerscheme Penetration Tester; AWS Solutions Architect)
