This is an opportunity to be part of a growing security team with a clear mission to protect critical infrastructure and keep the lights on. This role will lead a new security operations team for SSE Transmission. The team will provide an interface between an existing IT SOC and the system operation teams within Transmission. The role will provide domain expertise to understand how security threats may impact the essential service. This is a new team, and additional operations analysts will be recruited over the next year to support this lead role.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

- Lead a small team to monitor critical systems for indicators of compromise.

- Triaging security events, alerts and requests that are raised through the SIEM. Act as an interface between IT SOC and teams that manage the operational technology systems that run the electricity transmission network.

The duties and responsibilities of the Civil Operations Engineer are:

- You will have responsibility for the collation of data from existing and new build projects on the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV Transmission network to develop robust operation and maintenance manuals. The Business Assurance Manager (Data Protection & Security) is responsible for ensuring that Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is able to demonstrably meet its compliance requirements with data protection laws (e.g. the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)). Failure to comply with data protection laws could have a catastrophic business impact, with fines of up to 4% of Group turnover.

The role-holder will have a straight line in to SSENs Head of Business Assurance and a dotted line to SSEs Data Protection Officer. The role-holder will initially have three Direct Reports (all Business Assurance Specialists, focussed on Data Protection / Cyber Resilience).

Key responsibilities will include:

- Ensure that SSEN fulfils all of its mandatory, and often timebound, data protection requirements, around investigating (and potentially reporting to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)) data incidents within 72 hours.

- Responding to all rights requests within one calendar month.

- Facilitating the completion of data privacy screenings, and - where necessary - full Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), for all new / high risk personal data processing activities.
