This is a new role which has been created to provide targeted and expert support to their secretarial population, who would benefit from greater support around training, development and performance. There will also be an element of resource management across all teams and offices.


The Secretarial Manager will be responsible for line managing all Secretaries in London and Reading, with the exception of the Executive Assistant to the CEO and COO.

Responsibility for other administrative roles such as the Receptionist and Office Coordinator will not fall under the Secretarial Manager's remit. The Secretarial Manager will report to the Head of Administration.
Initially, the Secretarial Manager role will not be exclusive of secretarial responsibilities. As the role and firm grows, we expect secretarial responsibilities to decrease, but this will be a matter for discussion and agreement between the Secretarial Manager and Head of Administration.


The company headcount is currently 89 (expected to increase to 92 in September 2024), with 11 secretaries, 2 of whom are based in Reading. As this role will manage secretaries across both offices, travel to the Reading office will be required at least once a month. The Secretarial Manager's main role includes, but is not limited to:

• Secretarial:
• Working for up to four fee earners on a daily basis with additional fee earners visiting on a regular basis on a mix of workplace law

You will be joining an established main contractor based in Derby working on power schemes for high-profile clients. This multi-accredited organisation has a strong pipeline of work in the power sector and their commitment to delivering an exceptional standard of work has positioned them as a leader in the industry. Due to continued success, they are looking to onboard a Civil Site Manager to join their team.

Your new role
As Civil Site Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of multiple power schemes, from inception through to completion, across England. You will be based on one site at a time, managing subcontractors and direct labour on schemes valued up to £20m. Works will include groundworks, drainage and RC works. You will also be expected to commute and lodge at sites further afield if need be.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you will have a strong background in civil engineering and have experience in a site management capacity. In addition, you will hold a CSCS, SMSTS and First Aid qualification and be able to manage and lead teams effectively to ensure successful project outcomes. Previous experience in the power sector is desirable. Finally, you will have sound interpersonal and organisational skills.

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Legal to join their global headquarters team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and managing investments, including minority interests and joint ventures. This role involves overseeing smaller stakes, annual reporting, corporate investments, and partner markets.

Head of Legal responsibilities

• Corporate & M&A: Manage corporate transactions, M&A activities, and investments. Oversee minority interests and joint ventures.
• Partner Markets: Maintain and develop relationships with over 20 partner markets, including sub-branded entities.
• Technology & Outsourcing: Handle complex technology and outsourcing agreements, including partnerships with Microsoft, shared operations, and Vantage Towers.
• Intellectual Property: Ensure trademark compliance, develop brand strategy, manage litigation, marketing, and domain sponsorships.
• Strategic Transactions: Lead corporate and strategic deal-making, working closely with senior stakeholders. Exhibit a proactive attitude and the ability to simplify complex issues.
• Leadership: Act as a leader rather than a manager, fostering a stable team environment. Embrace change, understand leadership ethics, and think strategically about the future.

What you'll need to succeed

• At least 30 years of post-qualification experience
• Strong background in intellectual property law, including trademark compliance and litigation.
• Experience in strategic transactions and corporate deal-making.
• Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
• Significant deal-making experience.
• The ability to work in a high-complexity organisation and managing large briefs.
• An innovative and creative thinker with a proactive approach.

Preferred Experience:

• Private practice experience is desired.
• Experience as a Deputy General Counsel or Assistant General Counsel is a plus.
