Pending contract award, our Serco maritime division have an exciting new role for a Technical Manager to join our team. The key purpose of this role is to lead on the Ship Life Extension Plan management team with responsibility for the oversight and management of the upcoming Programmes (SLEPs) achieving customer approved technical solutions for the programme on time and budget.
Working with the Project Manager, and sometimes interchangeably, you will ensure a consistently safe and effective engineering works package is being managed and reported by our subcontract partners Shipyard facilities. Responsible for an effective Ship Life Extension Programme (SLEP) across a fleet of vessels improving the reliability of vessels and allowing the continued services of vessels while minimising loss of operational availability​ until replacement vessels enter service.​​ The SLEP will integrate major scheduled maintenance tasks, in-depth system overhauls and replacements, to extend the safe operational capability of a vessel.​

Main Accountabilities:



- To be the lead technical POC ensuring risks issues and opportunities are communicated, mitigated and acted upon in a timely and effective manner.

Your new role

The Product Service division has a team of developers creating solutions to help the business achieve its ambitions growth objectives. They are seeking an experienced Software Test Manager, with a hands-on approach to join their dynamic team. You will play a pivotal role in leading and shaping our software testing strategy and sizing and building a new software test group. The initial focus will be ensuring effective testing for a critical windows application, but it is expected that the team will need to grow to address the group's testing needs.
You will formulate and execute an effective test strategy for both Windows and Web Applications and conduct thorough analysis of projects requirements and collaborate with the development team to design and implement test plans.
You will identify, document and track software defects and inconsistencies and oversee and actively contribute to change. You will evaluate and implement appropriate test tools to streamline the testing pipeline, ensuring future growth is made throughout the team. You will run and participate in sprint planning, review meetings, and other collaborative meetings. Whilst implementing best practice across the team.

What you\'ll need to succeed

• Recent and in-depth experience in software testing and working with WPF, C# and desktop application testing.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies and best practices, including experience with automated testing frameworks.
• Experience with test management tools like Azure DevOps, JIRA, or TestRail.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of identifying and isolating defects in complex software systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams and stakeholders.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality software products on time and within budget.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
