Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities of a Mobile Crane Operator

- Work to manufacturer's instructions at all times.

- Adhere to road traffic regulations.

- Ensure PPE is worn at all appropriate times

- Conversant with the correct use of outriggers and aware they should be used on level ground.

- Set and check the functioning of the rated capacity limiter and rated capacity indicator.

- Perform the correct use of manual handling i.e. Outrigger Pans.

- Liaise with Site Manager/Project Manager upon arrival on site.

- Be able to resist pressures from other persons to carry out unsafe operations.

- Able to assimilate and apply information contained in reports and duty charts relating to the range of duties and safe use of the crane.

- Be aware of the effects of wind and other climatic effects on the crane and load.

- Able to take the action to avoid dangerous situations, including stopping operations.

- Operate fire suppressant equipment, if fitted.

- Access and depart the crane by safe use of ladders and grab rails.

- Carry out training on specific models of crane, become familiar with rigging and maintenance procedures and conversant with all crane documentation.

- Continually seek to improve the way in which the role operates within the business to achieve its objectives.

We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Technical Support Specialist within our team to undertake general laboratory administrative tasks along with providing technical assistance across a wide range of research activities and crime scene facility.

This is a fixed-term appointment for until 30 June 2026.

A clear understanding of the operation, calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, particularly spectroscopic and chromatographic instrumentation is required.

We are seeking an individual with excellent communication and problem-solving skills, a thorough understanding of the Health and Safety requirements within a research laboratory and a proven track record of providing support to research students and academics.

Your priorities will include:

• Ensure all H&S documentation is current, up to date, available to be read and signed before work commences, in line with legal requirements.
• Oversee the safe and appropriate use of specialised laboratory equipment and train staff/students in the operation when required.
• Place orders for chemicals and general consumables within the University Procurement Framework
• Receive deliveries and report faults/damage to suppliers for resolution
• Generate risk assessments and COSHH assessments as required for technical processes and advise others accordingly.

Who we're looking for:

• BSc in relevant science subject or equivalent practical experience
• Full working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and working within Health and Safety guidelines. Previous experience of preparing COSHH and Risk Assessments.
• Experience of acting as the principal point of contact for queries from a wide range of students, staff and external contacts.
• Significant practical experience of working in a research laboratory environment and utilising a wide range of laboratory techniques, including handling and working with hazardous chemicals.
• Specific experience in working with chromatographic and spectroscopic equipment including managing the effective operation of GC and LC equipment.

About The Role
Overall, Purpose of the Role:

To create and maintain a quality standard on the Contract sites in order that the Agreed Specification / Service Level Agreements and other various Trust Policies and Procedures are carried out. Ensure good personal appearance and hygiene, including uniform, are of the highest standards at all times in line with our company policy. To provide the various University staff, Visitors and Contractors a safe & friendly environment to work. Prevent unauthorised entry of persons not permitted on site and prevent unauthorised removal of equipment by protecting the University assets.

You will be working on a 4-on-4-off shift pattern, nights and days, 42 hours per week, on a permanent, full-time basis. Main Duties & Responsibilities of the Role:

• Ensure you have full knowledge of all the sites assignments instructions which must be adhered to.
• Point of contact for all Officers, including University staff, visitors and contractors who come to site.
• Visit each of the 14 UAL sites across London once per shift.

Details of the Role:

• To maintain an excellent level of security cover and to effectively respond to reports of incidents.
• To Update Time gate system with Officers working hours and update Roster.
• To complete Timesheets and associated paperwork for payroll Purposes.
• To carry out Security Officers welfare 1 to 1 Forms Monthly.
• To carry out security audits Monthly.

Requirements:

• To have completed secondary education with sound knowledge of MS Office products.
• Security Industry Authority Licence (DS & CCTV) & First Aid Certificate.
• Previous experience within the Security Industry is desirable.
• Ability to follow policy and procedures.
• Willingness to bring concerns to corporate attention via prescribed channels.
