Job Title: Fleet and Depot Manager

The Role
As a Fleet and Depot Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that operations run smoothly across four depots (Bromsgrove, Exeter, Swindon, and Portsmouth). You’ll manage all aspects of driver, depot, and fleet operations, ensuring compliance, safety, and efficiency are upheld at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Driver Management
Oversee all drivers and ensure compliance with driver hours regulations, including the Working Time Directive (WTD).

Handle driver-related HR matters, including performance management, recruitment, training, and development.

Manage incident investigations related to drivers, ensuring all necessary actions are taken and reported.

Monitor driver health and safety, ensuring all procedures are followed.
Depot Management

Ensure each depot maintains a high standard of tidiness, cleanliness, and organization.

Conduct frequent visits and audits across all four depots to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.

Ensure all health and safety protocols are implemented and followed, creating a safe working environment for all staff.

Monitor and maintain stock levels, ensuring that all depots are fully supplied with the necessary equipment and resources.

Fleet Management
Ensure full compliance with the Operator's Licence (O Licence) regulations.
Schedule and oversee vehicle service and maintenance bookings, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Manage defect rectifications, tank testing, and all necessary repairs, ensuring the fleet is always in top operational condition.
Work closely with external contractors and internal teams to resolve any fleet issues in a timely manner.

Skills and Experience
Proven experience in a fleet management or depot management role.
Knowledge of transport legislation, including O Licence compliance and driver hours regulations.

Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within a depot setting.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple sites.

Desirable but not essential: Transport Manager CPC qualification. However, the right candidate may be put through the necessary qualifications.

A full driving licence is required. A Category C licence (HGV) would be advantageous.

No more than 6 penalty points on your licence.

All candidates are required to declare any unspent convictions and must complete a DBS check.

Willingness to travel between depots as required.

DUTIES :

Attend a wide variety of sites (private properties/commercial warehouses/construction sites and everything in between) to provide millimetre accurate surveys. These drawings will typically be in the form of Topographical Survey drawings, building floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plans.
Assisting the current Land and Building Surveyor with day to day tasks both on site and in office.
Learning to use surveying equipment such as GNSS/GPS receivers, total station, laser scanner.
Learning to use AutoCAD, Leica Cyclone Reg360 and other surveying software.
Communication with clients. Being able to cater to their needs and offer advice where necessary.
Travel to sites predominantly across Yorkshire, occasionally nationwide.
Learn and assist with producing CAD drawings. Including floor plans, elevations, building sections and topographical surveys.
Organising workloads and meeting deadlines.

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING :

Full UK Driving Licence
Ability to manage your own workload and ensure deadlines are met.
An enthusiastic attitude and conscientious approach
Willingness to take on responsibility and be proactive.
Computer literate and interested in technology.
Experience of AutoCAD is desirable but not essential.

The role will be physically demanding, where you’ll be walking at least 8 miles per day. You will also be required to carry a bag that can weigh up to 16kg, delivering letters and parcels, with parcels weighing up to 20kg.

Driving and on foot delivery will be required, and you will be required to push/pull a trolley during deliveries.

Key Skills:

Valid UK driving license with a maximum of 6 points. (a clean license is preferred)

Previous delivery or driving experience preferred but not mandatory.

Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Strong communication and customer service abilities.

A commitment to safe and responsible driving practices.

Working outdoors in all weathers is required
