Your new role
As a Sustainability Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that their projects align with sustainable practices and meet environmental standards. You'll work closely with their Building Services Engineering team to develop tailored solutions that balance technical feasibility and environmental impact. - IES (Integrated Environmental Solutions) Modelling:
- Utilise IES software to simulate building performance, energy consumption, and environmental impact.
- Assess the impact of design choices on energy efficiency, daylighting, and thermal comfort.
- Thermal Load Assessment:
- Evaluate the heating and cooling requirements of buildings.
- Analyse thermal loads based on building orientation, insulation, and HVAC systems.
- Thermal Bridging Calculations:
- Identify and quantify thermal bridges within building envelopes.
- Propose mitigation strategies to minimise heat loss.
- Part L Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations (both domestic and non-domestic).
- Advise on energy efficiency measures, insulation standards, and renewable energy options.
- Overheating Assessments:
- Evaluate the risk of overheating in buildings, especially during warmer seasons.
- Recommend design modifications to mitigate overheating.
- Report Writing:
- Prepare clear and concise reports detailing findings, recommendations, and compliance status.
- Communicate technical information effectively to clients and project stakeholders.
- Energy Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with project teams to develop sustainable energy strategies.
- Explore renewable energy sources, energy-efficient systems, and lifecycle cost analysis.
What you'll need to succeed
- Need to have some experience working with the above requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in IES VE modelling software or similar modelling software.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of building regulations and sustainability standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Certification: You should be a qualified BREEAM Assessor, knowledgeable about various BREEAM assessment types (e.g., Non-Domestic buildings)
