You will be joining a conscientious and highly ambitious charity organisation in Bristol, as a Management and Project Accountant on a Permanent basis
Your new role
- 40% Management Accounting, 60% Project Accounting
- Taking an active role in the preparation of restricted project budgets and outline budgets for future years, in line with strategy
- Working with budget holders, management colleagues and the fundraising team to prepare project budgets for funding applications
- Preparing monthly consolidated Management Accounts and forecasts in line with agreed timelines
- Income and expenditure accounts, balance sheet and cash flow forecasts
- Supporting the Senior Management Team and other internal stakeholders with analysis and ability to manage ad hoc queries
- Preparing financial reconciliations of all projects comparing actuals against budget
- Overseeing the preparation of all bank reconciliations and other accounts analysis, including working with regional accountants in Africa and India to ensure all transactions are correctly coded
- Completing all balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis in a timely manner
- Lead on financial aspects of reporting to donors, ensuring that financial records are accurate, on time and meet donor requirements
What you'll need to succeed
- Fully qualified or Part-Qualified and in the latter stages of studying for an accounting qualification (ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA)
- An authentic and genuine interest in the work and projects undertaken by the charity - a passion for charitable projects will be as imperative as your overall accounting proficiency
- Experience within a non-profit / public sector environment - ideally having led projects or worked alongside Project Managers
- Desirable - Experience of grants financial management, including budgeting, compliance and reporting
- Desirable - Systems implementation experience
- Proven track record of building and managing successful inter-departmental relationships with key stakeholders, strong communication skills required overall
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (IF Statements, Vlookups etc), and ideally experience using Microsoft NAV accounting system
- Ability to process complex financial information and present the results clearly and concisely to non-finance colleagues
- A personable, positive and team-orientated mindset when faced with taking on tasks that may go beyond usual day-to-day duties
