Greenway and Trowbridge Primary Schools are situated in the East of Cardiff and are part of The Oaks Federation. The role will be based at Greenway Primary School which hosts a Flying Start service on site and has extensive grounds to support outdoor learning opportunities. Greenway works with a broad range of partners to enhance the provision for the community.
Greenway’s new Specialist Resource Bases (SRB) will support children from across Cardiff with complex needs, including social communication difficulties. We will have two resource bases within the main school building and the successful candidates will have the opportunity to assist in setting up the bases and launch the new classes. We want the new SRB provision to be an extension of our, already strong, approach to inclusion and to feel very much part of our school family.
Children in our resource base will receive a specialist curriculum to support their individual needs and a sensory based approach focused on development rather than age. The successful post holders will be responsible for supporting the specialist class teachers and address the needs of individual pupils, supporting them to overcome barriers to learning and demonstrate a commitment to the inclusion of every child and ensuring that all pupils have equal opportunities to access a broad and balanced curriculum. The post would suit teaching assistants with experience of working with pupils with additional learning needs in either a mainstream primary or specialist setting. A commitment to play based, experiential learning both indoors and outdoors is essential as is knowledge of supporting the implementation of Individual Development Plans for pupils.
The role requires someone with empathy, who communicates well with families and who fully understands the role of parental engagement in children’s learning. The successful candidate will need to work confidently with a range of professionals and build strong relationships with a wide variety of partners.

Hays are recruiting for a job as a Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant in Cardiff for a Special Educational Needs School which caters for pupils aged 3 - 11, the majority of which possess ASD or a related additional learning need. The school takes great care in creating a supportive and inclusive environment from the top down, with clear communication between the teaching staff and leadership team. The school are eager to expand their staff team with the introduction of passionate, hardworking, caring, and personable individuals. This is a wonderful opportunity to work within a well-respected school which looks to recruit permanently from within through the use of their agency staff. The role itself shall include working with small groups in classes of 4-8 alongside 3 other members of staff, as well as ad-hoc 1:1 responsibilities. Some students are non-verbal or possess severe learning difficulties, as well as related behaviour challenges, which means patience and respect are key to this role.
Your new role.The role is confirmed long-term for an immediate start, working 5 days a week. Additionally, there are similar positions within this school, as well as a sister school, with part-time working hours and September start dates. Duties relating to this role include but are not limited to:

• Working with small groups of students aged 3-11 with additional learning needs.
• Demonstrating high levels of patience and empathy when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
• Creating a safe and enjoyable learning environment for children.
• Ensuring that the students are supported, cared for, and engaged throughout the school day.
• Assisting teachers as they implement their lesson plans.
• Working closely as part of a team with other members of the teaching staff.

What you'll need to succeedTo be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience over the course of the last 2 - 3 years. Your new School Hays are recruiting for a job as a Full-Time Teaching Assistant in Cardiff for a mainstream secondary school supporting a year 8 pupil with additional learning needs and some related aspects of challenging or difficult behaviour on a 1:1 basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an excellent, well-respected, and highly supportive Secondary School in Cardiff. The school offers mainstream and ALN support for students aged 11-18 and prides itself on the creative and engaging learning environment its staff manage to create. The role itself shall consist of supporting a 13-year-old student in year 8 with additional learning needs within the school's mainstream classes. The student requires extra time, struggles to concentrate, and can become frustrated with academic work. However, they are generally well-behaved when supported. A key responsibility for this role is to ensure that the student is given the best chance of understanding and engaging with the work set by the class teacher. The role is full-time, long-term, and a fantastic opportunity to work with a school who look to recruit their agency workers on a permanent basis where possible.
