The duties of this occupation include, but are not limited to the following:

• Develop and initiate treatment programs which apply current Physical Therapy practice and research findings as needed or indicated by the patient population being served.
• Read and interpret written consults/prescriptions.
• Document appropriately and in a timely manner in patient's electronic record.
• Provide patient/family education as needed.
• Assign and supervise subordinate Physical Therapy staff, trainees, and volunteers in the delivery or support of treatment and education to patients and caregivers.
• Promote a safe, clean, and well-organized environment for patients and staff.
• Attend continuing education courses and seminars to remain current with advances in the field and to meet continuing education requirements of VA CT Healthcare System and Connecticut State Licensure.
• Provide education and training to PM&R and other facility staff as directed.
• Attend PM&R education and training sessions (in-services) as required.
• Actively participate in student training as required following standards set forth by the American Physical Therapy Association and VA.
• Work with PM&R leadership to develop Performance Improvement (PI) monitors in care of the Orthopedic patient.
• Participate in PI data collection, peer reviews, and preparation of reports in accordance with VA and The Joint Commission guidelines.
• Schedule patient visits to ensure quality Physical Therapy treatments are delivered most efficiently and effectively.
• Document evaluations, goals, treatment plans, and rehabilitation potential, using standard format in patient's medical record as required by PM&R, The Joint Commission, and VA CT Healthcare System standards.
• Ensures that subordinate Physical Therapy staff and trainees maintain appropriate documentation.
