This Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) position is responsible for providing the full range of clinical procedures related to respiratory care and is above the full performance level of the occupation.

RRTs at this level must possess the following:

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology including an in-depth understanding of the functioning of the circulatory and pulmonary systems and the major organs associated with these systems is required. Knowledge of respiratory therapy and all necessary equipment including but not limited to concentrators, mechanical ventilators, CPAP and Bi-level therapy equipment, pulse oximeters, end-tidal CO2 monitors, suction equipment, oxygen delivery systems, conserving devices, airway clearance devices, portable spirometry testing equipment. The incumbent should be prepared to acquire new knowledge and skills, as necessary relevant to the coordination of care for inpatients and outpatients. The incumbent is expected to perform patient, family, and caregiver education as needed. He/she will educate and train new staff, students, and members of the healthcare team. He/she must have expertise in the operation of all respiratory care equipment and be able to select and manipulate the respiratory equipment and therapy to meet patient needs. He/she must be able to instruct physicians and other healthcare professionals in the proper utilization of respiratory care equipment and therapy. When assessing a patient, providing care, or providing educational instruction, the employee will consider the age of the patient and any learning barriers as well as personal learning preferences as each relates to the ability to understand directions, provide objective self-assessment or any other personal information appropriate to the medical treatment plan.

Skill in performing equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, mask fittings, and equipment cleaning, calibration, and maintenance is required. The incumbent shall be able to monitor vital signs, perform and interpret arterial blood gases, and perform clinical assessments, recommend treatment options, and assess patient response appropriate for a registered respiratory therapist. The therapist is skilled in arterial puncture by utilizing arterial puncture technique with collections via careful anaerobic technique, proper storage of blood until analyzed and utilizing all necessary safeguards to prevent complications from this technique. The therapist performs this duty routinely and without supervision.

The Therapist checks, orders, and maintains an adequate number of supplies needed for the inpatient and outpatient clinic areas. The supplies are to be stocked, assembled and placed in the appropriate areas to maintain a safe, clean work environment.

The incumbent demonstrates the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the following duties within the scope of Respiratory Care. A Respiratory Therapist may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned. Essential functions may change from time to time to reflect the current trends within the field of respiratory therapy, and to meet the cardio-pulmonary needs of the patients served. The Dermot Murphy Unit is based in the M20 locality of South Manchester close to the Metro and Bus links. Built in its own beautiful grounds, this modern and purpose built unit has its own parking provided.

The unit is a Continuing Healthcare nurse led facility, which accommodates 22 residents with complex and unpredictable physical healthcare needs e.g. following and acquired brain injury or a diagnosis of a progressive neurological, respiratory, cardiac or renal disease. We are able to care for patients in need of complex airway or feeding regimes, up to and including full invasive ventilation.

The accommodation and environment are designed to deliver flexible and person centred care for each person and we aim to create a “home from home” atmosphere for all our patients. We employ our own chef and social event coordinator which enable our patients to live life to the maximum.

We are now recruiting band 5 staff nurses and are looking for individuals who have excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic approach to nursing.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to deliver assessments, diagnoses and interventions to children and their families in a variety of locations across the city. These posts are within the additional needs team.

You will have experience of working with children and their families, possess excellent time management, problem-solving, analytical and reflection skills. About the role

Balfour Beatty are looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our Connect Plus Services (CPS) Team . This role can be based at South Mimms, Dartford or Leatherhead. The role will involve travel across the M25 network.

CPS is a Joint Venture project with Balfour Beatty, AtkinsRéalis, and Egis. We operate and maintain the M25. The M25 is the busiest section of motorway in Europe and requires careful and efficient planning of work in order to deliver over £100m of annual investment in the highway infrastructure each year, in addition to planned and reactive maintenance activity.

The purpose of this role is to assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of processes aimed at managing health, safety & well-being risks within the Project. The role will support the organisation’s ambition to be a safe and responsible company regarding our people, supply chain partners and the communities we serve.

What you'll be doing

• Being a visible champion for HSW throughout the project engaging with Operatives and Managers
• Oversee the implementation of Organisational Standards relating to HSW at a local level providing feedbacking to the HSW Managers on any areas of improvement or potential conflict with business requirements
• Monitor the delivery of the communications strategy to keep HSW on the operational delivery agenda and report back to the HSW Managers on the levels of effective communication
• To support the delivery of appropriate and adequate HSW training based on Project needs
• Monitor and manage closeout of H,S & W Don’t Walk By’s.
• Support/ undertake targeted inspections of HSW management system and supply chain audits, tracking & supporting actions to close out
• Managing own diary and stakeholder communications to plan, schedule and conduct inspections and HSW conversations with site & depot based teams
• To prepare and communicate timely reports and presentations detailing performance data on inspection/DWB findings, tracking and supporting actions to close out.
• To positively represent the Health, Safety & Well-being function and its strategy during conference calls and meetings
• To review work activities against safety system of work taking appropriate action and providing documented advice where necessary
• Support incident investigations, ensuring incidents are dealt with effectively with actions tracked to close out.

Working arrangements

We have offices in South Mimms, Dartford and Leatherhead and are flexible as to which office you are based at. The role will involve regular travel across the M25 network and a company car will be provided. There will also be a requirement to carry out night shift H&S inspections (approx. 1 week per month), as well as occasional weekend working.

Who we're looking for

Essential

• Professional qualification in health and safety (minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent)
• A current CSCS Card
• Clean, full driving license
• Able to maintain a regular night-time and weekend presence
• Utilise suite of Microsoft Office applications and digital platforms at an intermediate level to review data, identify themes and prepare representative graphs

Our Clinical Support Workers for the Community Liver Health Checks programme support the roll out of an exciting new pilot project providing community screening of people in hard-to-reach groups for cirrhosis. This project aims to identify people currently using local alcohol and drug services and engage them in screening for cirrhosis and to offer interventions to help their liver health. This project will aim to provide patients with support to attend screening and provide direct to patient incentives to encourage attendance at screening.

The post holder will work closely with the Hepatology Service at MRI and the Infectious Diseases outreach service at community sites, with the community outreach work coordinated strategically by the Greater Manchester Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network (ODN).

The post will be based in Manchester Royal Infirmary and the post holder will work operationally with the Operational Delivery Network for Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire.

The role entails blood tests and performing fibroscans (a type of ultrasound for assessing liver health - full training will be given), delivery of results and engaging patients found to be cirrhotic in preventative health care to encourage them to attend for further hospital screening and offering them health promotion advice. The role holder will work closely with our partners in drug services, probation services, homeless services, and primary care. This will include programmes with existing peer support schemes available within those organisations and the voluntary sector.

Quality and Leadership Deliver professional leadership with sound interpersonal and communication skills to enable and empower staff to develop best practice in the delivery of high-quality patient care. Challenge existing practices, ensuring that progressive solutions, which consider models of best practice, are incorporated into clinical practice. Support ward/departmental leadership and their nursing teams by working alongside them to promote shared learning/education at the point of care To work collaboratively with specialist clinical teams, e.g., Tissue Viability Nurse (TVN), Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) to promote educational study days, ward-based teaching/education. To assist in the delivery of QI projects to improve patient outcomes and staff CPD To identify and contribute to shared learning and quality improvement opportunities from incidents, complaints and accreditation processes. To support the Lead Nurse for Quality in the delivery of the Trusts Quality plan. To support the development and implementation trust clinical accreditation and Quality Mark schemes, ensuring standards are maintained and staff are supported to make improvements by collaboration and engagement Support the lead Nurse and participate in the further development of the accreditation schemes in terms of spread across the organization and inclusion of oncology specific standards. Awareness and understanding of national and local policies. Foster and develop a culture within nursing that values continuing professional development and strives for excellence in the delivery of patient care. Support the Lead Nurse on the national quality board requirements for safe staffing, supporting the process of undertaking acuity monitoring, analyzing data, preparing evidence for bi-annual staffing reviews, and developing the board assurance report. Take advantage of both formal and informal settings to provide people with coaching and encouragement. Actively identify opportunities to influence trust nursing and quality agendas. Participate in the implementation and further development of clinical indicators/metrics and systems of reporting, action planning and sustainability. Assist the Lead Nurse by supporting NMP learners during training. Support in the management of the NMP database ensuring that appropriate data is accurately recorded. Assist the Lead Nurse in the organisation of NMP continuing professional development events in-line with the requirements set out in the NMP policy. Support the Lead Nurse in regular audit activity of NMP activity and compliance against national and local guidance. Education Support involvement in nursing audit, quality improvement initiatives and research activity in the Trust and the dissemination of good practice Personal Cooperate in the performance review by indicating own learning goals, support needs and setting personal development objectives with feedback from others.
