This Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) position is responsible for providing the full range of clinical procedures related to respiratory care and is above the full performance level of the occupation.

RRTs at this level must possess the following:

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology including an in-depth understanding of the functioning of the circulatory and pulmonary systems and the major organs associated with these systems is required. In addition, knowledge of a variety of related acute and chronic disorders and diseases, their effect on the lungs and heart, and the method of treatment.

Knowledge of the pharmacology of common respiratory drugs, common dosages, typical and atypical patient responses and side effects is required.

Knowledge of respiratory therapy and all necessary equipment including but not limited to concentrators, mechanical ventilators, CPAP and Bi-level therapy equipment, pulse oximeters, end-tidal CO2 monitors, suction equipment, oxygen delivery systems, conserving devices, airway clearance devices, portable spirometry testing equipment. The incumbent should be prepared to acquire new knowledge and skills, as necessary relevant to the coordination of care for inpatients and outpatients. The incumbent is expected to perform patient, family, and caregiver education as needed. He/she will educate and train new staff, students, and members of the healthcare team. He/she must have expertise in the operation of all respiratory care equipment and be able to select and manipulate the respiratory equipment and therapy to meet patient needs. He/she must be able to instruct physicians and other healthcare professionals in the proper utilization of respiratory care equipment and therapy. When assessing a patient, providing care, or providing educational instruction, the employee will consider the age of the patient and any learning barriers as well as personal learning preferences as each relates to the ability to understand directions, provide objective self-assessment or any other personal information appropriate to the medical treatment plan.

Skill in performing equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, mask fittings, and equipment cleaning, calibration, and maintenance is required. The incumbent shall be able to monitor vital signs, perform and interpret arterial blood gases, and perform clinical assessments, recommend treatment options, and assess patient response appropriate for a registered respiratory therapist. The therapist is skilled in arterial puncture by utilizing arterial puncture technique with collections via careful anaerobic technique, proper storage of blood until analyzed and utilizing all necessary safeguards to prevent complications from this technique. The therapist performs this duty routinely and without supervision.

The Therapist checks, orders, and maintains an adequate number of supplies needed for the inpatient and outpatient clinic areas. The supplies are to be stocked, assembled and placed in the appropriate areas to maintain a safe, clean work environment.

The incumbent demonstrates the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the following duties within the scope of Respiratory Care. A Respiratory Therapist may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned. Essential functions may change from time to time to reflect the current trends within the field of respiratory therapy, and to meet the cardio-pulmonary needs of the patients served. JOB SUMMARY To provide specialist pharmaceutical support to the 5 Practices of Severnvale Primary Care Network. To liaise with patients, clinical and non-clinical staff, practice, hospital and community pharmacists and patient's carers to improve the pharmaceutical care of patients. To consult with patients. To support the Senior Clinical Pharmacist and fellow Clinical Pharmacists role to maximise support to all clinical and non-clinical practice staff to improve patient care in relation to all aspects of medicines and their impact. To provide clinical leadership on medicines optimisation and quality improvement and be responsible for supporting the GPs in implementing effective medicines management within the practices, including undertaking searches and audits identifying areas for improvement, initiating and managing change, and monitoring budgets. To support in the day to day management of the PCN Prescription Hub. To help provide leadership to PCN pharmacy technician and Prescription Hub Prescription Clerk Care Co-ordinators. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To carry out medication reviews and structured medication reviews for patients both in the surgery, in care homes or for housebound patients - with single or multiple medical problems where medicines optimisation is required; reviewing the need for each medicine and providing recommendations for other clinicians on prescribing. To consult with patients, by telephone and face to face according to competency. This may include patients with long term conditions, e.g. hypertension, CVD, diabetes as well as medication reviews. To reconcile medicines following discharge from hospitals or intermediate care and working with patients and community pharmacists to ensure patients receive the medicines they need post-discharge. To support in the management of the repeat prescribing process, helping to manage repeat prescription requests, resolving queries where possible and producing prescriptions for clinical review and signature. To ensure patients have appropriate monitoring tests in place when required. The Dermot Murphy Unit is based in the M20 locality of South Manchester close to the Metro and Bus links. Built in its own beautiful grounds, this modern and purpose built unit has its own parking provided.

The unit is a Continuing Healthcare nurse led facility, which accommodates 22 residents with complex and unpredictable physical healthcare needs e.g. following and acquired brain injury or a diagnosis of a progressive neurological, respiratory, cardiac or renal disease. We are able to care for patients in need of complex airway or feeding regimes, up to and including full invasive ventilation.

The accommodation and environment are designed to deliver flexible and person centred care for each person and we aim to create a “home from home” atmosphere for all our patients. We employ our own chef and social event coordinator which enable our patients to live life to the maximum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to deliver assessments, diagnoses and interventions to children and their families in a variety of locations across the city. These posts are within the additional needs team.

You will have experience of working with children and their families, possess excellent time management, problem-solving, analytical and reflection skills. With current knowledge of the implications of the 2014 Children's and Families Act, and a particular knowledge of SEND. We are looking to appoint a consultant who will offer a high quality, clinical service for the rehabilitation of patients with acquired brain injury, provide clinical leadership to the inter-disciplinary team and play an integral role in the further development of rehabilitation pathways across the South West. The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and the development of academic and research interests will be encouraged. There is also the possibility of appointing to the site medical director position, which is ideal for those looking for a first management role or for those who already hold medical management responsibilities within their current portfolio. The site is part of the wider Active Care Group Neuro Network (consisting of 25+ sites) nationally and collaborates with local NHS services due to a joint working arrangement with North Bristol NHS Trust. Our Clinical Support Workers for the Community Liver Health Checks programme support the roll out of an exciting new pilot project providing community screening of people in hard-to-reach groups for cirrhosis. This project aims to identify people currently using local alcohol and drug services and engage them in screening for cirrhosis and to offer interventions to help their liver health. This project will aim to provide patients with support to attend screening and provide direct to patient incentives to encourage attendance at screening.

The post holder will work closely with the Hepatology Service at MRI and the Infectious Diseases outreach service at community sites, with the community outreach work coordinated strategically by the Greater Manchester Hepatitis C Operational Delivery Network (ODN).

The post will be based in Manchester Royal Infirmary and the post holder will work operationally with the Operational Delivery Network for Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire.

The role entails blood tests and performing fibroscans (a type of ultrasound for assessing liver health - full training will be given), delivery of results and engaging patients found to be cirrhotic in preventative health care to encourage them to attend for further hospital screening and offering them health promotion advice. The role holder will work closely with our partners in drug services, probation services, homeless services, and primary care. This will include programmes with existing peer support schemes available within those organisations and the voluntary sector.

The Medical Secretaries and Admin team provides support to our clinical team 11,500 patients. You will be liaising on sensitive medical information, so a caring customer service communication style is essential. You will also facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies. Your responsibilities will be: a) Provide full secretarial support to the consultants and member of their teams regarding general medical duties and specialist work. b) To liaise and communicate effectively with GPs, Practice Staff, Patients, Hospital Staff, Community Nursing Teams, ERS and Funding Team Personnel. c) Audio typing using digital dictation system to ensure routine NHS referral letters and private referrals are distributed efficiently and within a 5 working day period. Ensuring appropriate enclosures are attached to all referrals as necessary. d) Ensure 2WW referrals are dealt with within 24 hour working day period via the ERS system and contain all relevant information. e) Typing of private work within 10 working days on behalf of patients and generating invoices, ensuring invoice spread sheet is updated. f) Resolve queries from GPs via practice notes and Docman. g) Undertake queries on behalf of patients, contacting hospitals and other external agencies as needed. Endeavour to resolve, keeping patient informed. h) Record data accurately and appropriately connected to patients in order to ensure good communication and audit standards. i) To assist in the management of requests for copy notes and medical records. j) To assist in the receipt of patient requests for private work, making appointments and liaising with the appropriate clinician to ensure that work is completed in a timely fashion. k) Ensure that both new and existing patient records need to be kept up to date and accurately coded and recorded on EMIS l) Provide support to the clinical team by reducing their documentation workload and maintaining accurate medical records. m) Receive patient information and communication via various methods to include post, emails, electronic document management and any others as appropriate. n) Date stamp and scan all incoming paper documentation o) Code and workflow all paper and electronic documents. p) Action all urgent documents q) Review the content of incoming patient related correspondence. r) Prioritise and distribute, via electronic document management, appropriate patient information and correspondence to the appropriate people. s) Ensure documents are filed accurately to the correct patient record. t) Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary. u) Monitor shared email inboxes To thrive in this role, you will need to be organised, flexible and have good communication skills, alongside a top-level attention to detail.
