Due to retirement of the current post holder, we are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic senior pharmacy technician to operationally manage all aspects of the clinical trials support provided by pharmacy.

You will join a high profile dedicated Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team working within our new Pharmacy Medicines Research Unit at UHCW where you will be based. Your primary role will be to lead the team of pharmacy clinical trial technicians and support staff in setting up trials across a range of clinical specialities ensuring proper governance is in place.

Lead a team of clinical trials technicians to implement new clinical trials within the Trust across all clinical specialities. Be proficient and diligent at undertaking feasibility assessments, cost analysis and risk assessments, ensuring trials meet Trust policies and procedures. Where necessary create/ quality assure documents for use specifically within the trial.

• Clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, ATOs and administration staff
• Pharmacy department managers including Quality Control, Aseptic Services and Dispensaries.

3. Ensure that patients receive appropriate information on the pharmaceutical aspects of a clinical trial by providing written information for dispensary staff and answering specific queries from all clinical staff and patients.

4. Maintain a system to ensure that the pharmacy department receives all income due from pharmaceutical companies for trial work undertaken and that changes to contracts are reviewed and appropriate for the work undertaken.

5. In liaison with other team leaders and senior technicians, take responsibility of technicians/ senior technician support in clinical trials.

6. To support the implementation of quality improvement, new services (e.g. implementation of ATMP studies) and regional and national initiatives, such as the HRA Technical Review and EDGE Trial Management System. Changes should follow change control procedures.

Special School Nurse - Band 6 (Term Time Only)

Permanent role

We are an integrated Children and Young People (CYP) Community Nursing Service providing specialist nursing care to CYP with complex physical health needs. This includes Community Children’s Nursing , special school nursing and respite provision. Significant investment in our Special School Nursing team means we are looking for several new posts to support the growing number of CYP with complex health needs in Coventry’s special schools. This post is for an experienced children’s nurse/ learning disability nurse with extensive children’s experience. The post will act as a senior nurse the five special schools the service supports facilitating the team of nurses and carers to meet the complex physical health needs of pupils in school.

Extensive experience of working with children or young people with complex physical health needs is essential ideally in a variety of settings but especially special schools. The post requires you to hold a children’s qualification either RN Child or RGN with an RSCN qualification. Candidates who are registered LD or adult nurses and can demonstrate extensive experience working with children with complex health needs will be considered.

Team working and especially experience in multi-agency working is essential as the post will also involve working with education and social care to provide holistic care to CYP on the caseload. The post holder will support the team leader in the overall management of the service across five special schools and act in their absence when required. A good working knowledge of EHCPs and the SEND agenda is also required along with experience in safeguarding. The successful candidate will have good communication skills, be a team player whilst being able to work autonomously when required. A sense of fun and creativity are also valuable traits. Clinical Advise other professionals on the care of people with dementia and their carers/families with complex care needs, from peri-diagnosis to post bereavement support. Provide specialist nursing assessment, using the Admiral Nurse Assessment Framework for carers/families affected by dementia (within service spec) Support identification and management of co morbidities and frailty for people with dementia and their carers/families. Develop and/or support, in partnership with other professionals, person-centred care plans for people with dementia including positive risk management Deliver relationship and family-centred approaches to care, which meet the needs of people with dementia, carers/families and staff. Provide a range of evidence based psychosocial interventions and emotional support to promote mental/physical health and wellbeing for people with dementia and their carers/families. Support people with dementia, carers/families and staff to understand and respond to changes in behaviour and relationships as a result of dementia. Ensure that all legal requirements are considered and adhered to where appropriate to patients and carer’s, including Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) 2007 & Safeguarding Adults 2011 Act as an advocate for people with dementia and their carers/families to promote their rights and best interests. Participate in and/or support formal training events promoting best practice in dementia care and disseminating Admiral Nursing work. Provide advice on the delivery of evidence based best practice in dementia care Act as a clinical role model to others, including student nurses, and mentoring other staff as required. Support the development and delivery of work streams as part of the host organisation’s Dementia Strategy. Work in partnership with colleagues to provide support and information to families, including advance care planning, best interest decisions and end of life care. Work with key local and national stakeholders to develop more integrated care pathways and holistic models of care, through dissemination of specialist skills and knowledge. Evaluation and Audit Support the audit and evaluation of quality improvements and initiatives aimed at improving the delivery of dementia care within Coventry & Rugby GP Alliance Actively participate in the collection of quantitative and qualitative data to support the evaluation and audit of the Admiral Nurse Service. The Enhanced Access service operates on behalf of PCNs across Coventry, Nuneaton and Atherstone, run from local General Practices.
