Medical Retina Specialist Doctor

Applications are invited a fixed term (24 month contract) full time Specialist Grade in Medical Retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The 8 clinical sessions will comprise of medical retina face to face clinics, intravitreal injection clinics, MR laser clinics, MR virtual clinics (review of patient imaging remotely) and two comprehensive ophthalmology clinics.

The Medical Retina Service at Moorfields St Georges is well established and highly specialist, treating all aspects of medical retina pathology and caring for many patients with diabetic retinopathy. The complex patient demographics and the challenging pathology at patient presentation requires consultant and senior ophthalmic specialist input for a significant amount of the clinical workload.

The service receives referrals from multiple sources, including A&E, primary care, internal referrals from other services within MEH, as well as external providers across the South-East of England and beyond.

• Plans, organizes, directs and controls the safety and occupational health program covering an extensive geographic area and involving a large variety of regional operations.
• Evaluates the health and safety program’s progress, which includes assessment of current guidelines, procedures, policies, and the training program.
• Plans, organizes and conducts a regional inspection activity.
• Investigates mishaps and fatalities and prepares a chronological narrative of factors contributing to the incident.
• Tests and modifies, as appropriate, various types of protective equipment such as life vests, safety ropes, and safety nets to ensure compliance with applicable safety criteria.
