Working as part of a motivated, cohesive, and well-supported clinical team, you will be an experienced therapist with a proven record of treating a wide range of mental health presentations in primary care.

We are looking for therapists with additional training in modalities such as cognitive behaviour therapy for psychosis (CBT-P), psychodynamic approaches such as Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT). Experience and training in working with personality disorder and trauma presentations will be essential; EMDR qualifications would be beneficial. Modality-specific clinical supervisors, appropriate for the caseload will be provided as well regular case management supervision and ongoing training.

Our Clinicians are well resourced with IT and communications equipment. Our service uses the IAPTus patient administration system and operates on a near-paperless basis.

You will need to be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, service users and members of the public, respect individual rights to confidentiality, and complete tasks within given deadlines. You will have relevant qualifications, most likely at post-graduate level, have accreditation with an appropriate professional body and be able to demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience within the area of adult mental health.

Essential:

• High Intensity Talking Therapies Qualification (Post Graduate Diploma)
• Full BABCP accreditation
• At least 2 years of working in a Talking Therapies Service as a Band 7 High Intensity Therapist
• Good clinical, analytical and judgement skills for health-related issues, able to draw a broad theoretical knowledge base in analysing high complex facts & situations to arrive at appropriate formulations.
• High level of planning & organisational skills to be able to plan & manage a complex workload.

The Role

In this role, you will provide Low Intensity CBT-based interventions whilst undertaking the Postgraduate Certificate Psychological Wellbeing Practice delivered by the University of Essex. This training post will equip you with the skills and knowledge to provide evidence-based treatment to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

You will be joining a motivated team of mental health professionals and experienced supervisors, who will support you to complete both your academic study and your clinical delivery.

The start date of this position is 24th September 2024, with a full week of service induction before the University starts on 30th September 2024.

A Disclosure and Barring check (DBS, formerly CRB) and two satisfactory references will be required by the service for appointment to post.

A typical working week includes a mixture of University teaching, study day and service days. On your service days, you will be supported in providing high volume low intensity interventions for mild to moderate anxiety and depression. University days will be hybrid training with a combination of remote and face-to-face teaching.

Whilst your clinical practice is likely to include some remote working, you will be expected to attend one of the Basildon and Brentwood offices for part of the week.

After successful completion of your Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Qualification, you will be required to apply for your PWP Registration through either the BPS or BABCP.

• If you do not have a BABCP recognised core profession, you must follow the KSA procedure and prepare your portfolio prior to interview. • You will provide High-Intensity CBT interventions recommended by NICE to clients with moderate to severe common mental health disorders.
• The Trainee position is aimed at mental health professionals who have some experience in CBT and who continue to work in a mental health environment.
• Weekly supervision provided by both the university and the workplace.
• Basildon and Brentwood talking therapies service are dedicated to nurturing and developing trainees throughout and post-training.

Preceptorship Period Post-Training

Following successful completion of training, newly qualified therapists are offered a six-month preceptorship period. The preceptorship package provides opportunity to consolidate knowledge and build confidence through reflective learning with an allocated mentor.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

• Core Professional training or qualification, or able to demonstrate that they meet the KSA requirements set by the BABCP.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a discipline connected to mental health (or ability to study at third year undergraduate degree level).
• Membership of the BABCP (from the time that the course commences).
• Availability to attend university as required.
• Experience of working in mental health services, including risk management.
• An understanding of anxiety and depression and how it presents in Primary Care.
• An understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies.
• Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets.
• Ability to manage own caseload and time.
• IT literacy and the ability to use patient record information systems, diary systems and maintain clinical records in a timely and accurate manner.
• Evidence of values that are consistent with the NHS constitution and VHG’s values.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills.
• Interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patients, including the ability to develop good therapeutic relationships and inter-agency relationships.
• Evidence of an openness to learning new knowledge and skills.
• High level of enthusiasm and motivation.
• Willingness to travel, which may include overnight stays on occasion, as and when required.

Desirable:

• Evidence of foundation level or sustained CPD in CBT.
• Evidence of supervised CBT practice.
• Experience of working in Primary Care/Talking Therapies services.
• Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.

The Role: What you’ll do

We are looking for a dynamic and highly skilled Mental Health Nurse Prescriber to work within our Basildon and Brentwood Primary Care Network service as a First Contact Practitioner (FCP) in a varied and exciting role.

As an integral member of the team and working alongside other First Contact Practitioners, you will be responsible for assessing a wide variety of mental health presentations within a primary care setting, ensuring that service users receive the right level of support at the right time for their individual needs.

• You will identify, assess, and develop risk management plans as part of your routine clinical practice.
• Using your non-medical prescribing training and expertise, you will prescribe appropriate pharmacological treatments and conduct routine medication reviews.
• You will visit the GP Practices in your area building relationship with the team at the practice.
