This post is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist spinal nursing skills, with a focus on the management of neurogenic bladder and bowel.

The NHNN receives secondary, tertiary and quaternary referrals from across the UK and internationally.

Our Complex Spine service provides input across the disease trajectory from education at onset, pre and post operatively and through complexities. The safe running of this service requires an expert multidisciplinary team where the different disciplines work both autonomously and collaboratively within a detailed clinical governance framework. The team continually develops and reviews the service in line with evolving research and practice.

The successful applicant must be passionate about this patient group, highly motivated and enthusiastic about teaching all grades of junior staff within these wards. The candidate must be an outstanding communicator, can demonstrate first-rate organisational and multitasking skills and the ability to prioritise effectively and efficiently in a busy and fast paced work environment. The successful applicant will demonstrate an ability to support, train, develop and educate others as a member of the Complex Spina Nursing team. The successful individual will have a pivotal role in delivering Trust Objectives as well as objectives for this service ensuring that the care delivered reflects the Trust Vision and Values.

T08 is a busy 43-bedded acute medical ward with a diverse mix of acuity and complexity of patients. It specialises in Infectious Diseases, Respiratory Medicine and Rheumatology. T08 ward is led by two Ward Sister’s and 4 Deputies. Staff work across the whole floor and across all specialities. There are two sides to the ward; the north side is predominately bay beds and the south side consists predominantly of side rooms. The T08 side rooms are Negative Pressure therefore we care for patients with a range of infections including TB, potential VHF and infections in returning travellers, and additionally provides the inpatient service to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases. Within the Respiratory bed base T08 cares for patients who have an acute respiratory condition and may require Non-Invasive Ventilation and those who have Tracheostomies.

T08 prides itself on a strong and supportive Multi-disciplinary Team and staff have the opportunity to work with specialist Consultants and Specialist Nurses who are leading experts in their fields. An exciting opportunity has presented for a pharmacist to join our cancer pharmacy team. We are looking to recruit to the post of Rotational Pharmacist in Cancer who will play a pivotal role in managing the pharmacy service provided to cancer patients.

UCLH, in partnership with University College London, has been designated one of the country’s five comprehensive biomedical research centres and there is an on-site early phase cancer clinical trials unit.

The UCLH Macmillan Cancer Centre opened in April 2012 and encompasses our busy outpatient clinics and daycare treatment facilities as well as our growing ambulatory chemotherapy practice.
The UCLH Grafton Way Building opened 2022 and supports our expanding haematology service including haematopoietic stem cell transplants and CAR-T therapy. Chemotherapy production services are delivered from a state of the art unit situated within the Macmillan Cancer Centre.

The pharmacy cancer team is well integrated into the cancer directorate and provides a high-quality and progressive pharmacy service to cancer patients.

The main day to day responsibilities would include:

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, caring for young people aged 13-19 years.

You must be a band 5 nurse (paediatric or adult) with a desire to work in adolescent haematology/oncology. You will have the opportunity to share and develop knowledge and skills in caring for a range of solid tumours and haematology cancers. You will care for patients undergoing a range of treatments including bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

You will be required to demonstrate an interest in the Teenage Cancer Trust and be willing and able to provide efficient delivery of care to this patient group.

You will support critical care medicines-related functionality and ongoing development of the UCLH implementation of Epic, the Trust’s digital health record system.

You will provide and comment upon relevant evaluated financial data for medicines expenditure, income, and cost saving or avoidance initiatives.

We cover a wide range of surgical treatments, such as MOH’s, Plastic surgery , & complex surgery, which is supported by our Skin Cancer CNS from diagnosis, results & ongoing care.

There are also specialist treatments delivered to patients via nurse led services, such as nurse led monitoring, nurse led Photodynamic therapy, Phototherapy, pre assessment clinics, & Dressings. We are in the process of developing further nurse led services.

Working within our friendly and supportive team will enable the successful candidate to develop a range of advanced skills and knowledge by rotating between surgical and medical dermatology.

The phototherapy course and theatre experience are desirable but not essential as we will support specific training and supervision until competent.

We are pleased to invite applicants for this rare opportunity to apply for a post as a Specialty Doctor within Autonomics. The successful applicant will support the nationally and internationally recognized Autonomic Unit based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

The Autonomic Unit has pioneered the translation of autonomic research into clinical practice in the UK and worldwide, and is closely involved in national, European and international autonomic and neurological societies, and in International Consensus Groups and Task Forces providing guidelines and policy. Clinical Autonomic Scientists work along with the clinicians, to ensure that the clinical service is underpinned by a strong investigation and evidence base. They have devised and implemented new diagnostic tests for central and peripheral autonomic function, and novel treatments. They have pioneered novel, mainly non-invasive techniques for the investigation of pathophysiological mechanisms in various autonomic disorders.

The team has in the last 5 years established additional patients’ pathway including the delivery of autonomic assessment, rehabilitation and immunotherapy one of the most severe but treatable autonomic failure condition, such as autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy. We have also established the first Autonomic adolescent service and a new diagnostic assessment for postganglionic sudomotor dysfunction. The expanded spectrum of patients seen at the Autonomic unit require additional senior specialist in autonomic neurology leading on the delivery of assessment and treatment of patients with autonomic failure.

The Specialty doctor would also supervise our junior clinical fellow and co-ordinating and supervising elective complex admissions for autonomic failure patients and autonomic outpatient clinics, plan and co-ordinate weekly MDT meetings.

The successful applicant will be an experienced cancer nurse with proven clinical skills and knowledge in the field of cancer. Neuroscience Critical Care is a referral centre for neurology, stroke and neurosurgical patients from across the London area and Nationally. Your role will be to deliver care to patients who are transitioning to ward based care, to attend deteriorating patients on wards, and providing an emergency response service across the National Hospital and surrounding departments.

Previous Intensive Care experience is essential plus a background or experience in managing Neuroscience Patients. We work in supportive environment and prioritise your learning so you can develop your skills in managing patients with all kinds of neurological conditions.

There is a multi-disciplinary approach to high quality care, with innovative monitoring and opportunities for staff development and progression.

The role is focussed on direct care to patients with complex Neuromedical conditions or following emergency and elective Neurosurgery, Spinal surgery, Mechanical Thrombectomy and varied Neuroradiological procedures.

This is a diverse and interesting speciality. You will attend patients across all areas, working with ward staff to manage complex patients, follow up discharged patients and provide emergency care for deteriorating patients.

The Outreach service is aligned with the Neuro Critical Care Service and supports all discharges from critical care in the transition to ward based care.

The National Hospital is a specialist hospital and part of UCLH NHS Trust. It is a dedicated centre for patients with a wide range of neurology, neurosurgical and spinal conditions. There is a good team spirit across the site and a focus on staff support and development. We adhere to our trust values of safety, kindness, teamwork, improving and strive to deliver high quality care across the hospital and wider trust.

Our Outreach Team have a background in Critical Care and Neuroscience and support patients across the hospital once they are ready for ward-based care. The team follow up all Critical Care discharges and take ward level referrals to review patients who are of concern or deteriorating. You will work in a small team with support from the Senior Staff in Outreach/Critical Care and the CNS and our Medical Team.

This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly.
