South London Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) is looking for an enthusiastic Research Nurse to join the Agile Workforce team.

The Research Nurse will play a key role in ensuring that any research undertaken within the Care settings department safeguards the wellbeing of the patients and is conducted according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trial) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006.

Working collaboratively with the clinical trials team and the wider multidisciplinary team in the management of research patients. They will also act as a patient advocate providing support and assistance as required and assist in the coordination and management of a portfolio of clinical research studies.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across sites within the RDN: South London geography. The employing Trust will be Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering an agreed number of portfolios of clinical trials within the Secondary, Primary Care and Community settings across the South London region. They will work flexibly across the disciplines to ensure the success of the clinical research projects they are assigned to. The Research Nurse will play a key role in identifying opportunities to broaden the current portfolio.

● Carry out planned care required by the clinical trials protocol for a group of volunteers without direct supervision
● Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient/volunteer care.
● Responsible for recruiting to, and following up, patients within studies. This includes both randomised clinical trials and other high quality clinical studies. The role will involve working closely with multidisciplinary clinical teams

By working with patients, families, carers and staff, putting their experiences at the heart of this work, and promoting their needs to the HealthTech Research Centre (HRC, a new clinical-academic research initiative at our Trust – read more below), we can ensure that new technology is tailored to the children and young people who need it, acceptable to those who use it, and workable for the services that provide it.


Curating an unmet needs register


Engaging with the CHD networks served by Evelina London Children’s Hospital (ELCH) and Royal Brompton Hospital (RBH)and Harefield Hospital, the post holder will gather,characteriseand curate a register of unmet needs, providing a foundation on which new HealthTech can be researched,designedand developed.


Unmet needs might include: the challenges faced by patients andcarers,living with CHD; and the difficultiesencounteredby NHS staff in their ambition to deliver excellent, highlypersonalised, and inclusive care.





Administration of thePaediatricTechnologies HealthTech Research Portfolio


New submissions to the unmet needs register will be reviewed,consideredandprioritisedtwice a year, by a multidisciplinary panel of patientadvocate, clinical, academic and innovation experts.

Detailed job description


This post will sit within the clinical theme of the HealthTech Research Centre (HRC) dedicated to children’s HealthTech research. This is called “Congenital Heart Diseasesin Children –PaediatricTechnologies”.The theme aims to narrow the gap between the unmet health and care needs of children and families living with congenital heart disease, and the HealthTech researchers (including academic and industrial partners) who arebest-placedto develop innovative solutions.


The HRCPaediatricCardiology Nurse will play a key role in achieving the objectives of the HRC congenital cardiac diseases in children theme. They are responsiblefor providingindividual packages of work and service support to ensure project outputs are delivered effectively. They will havedutyof care in supporting children and their families throughout their participation in any project activity, acting as the participants’ advocate at all times.


The post holder will take a lead on specific projects or aspects of a project aimed atidentifying,validatingandprioritisingthe unmet needs of children and young people living with congenital heart disease, theirfamiliesand the NHS workforce responsible for their care. The HRCPaediatricCardiology Nurse will have responsibilityfor,day-to-day delivery and adjusting plans as required to ensure that risks and issues are mitigated.


The HRCPaediatricCardiology Nurse will coordinate and undertake efforts to better understand the unmet health and care needs experienced by individuals within the integrated care networks served by our hospitals (ELCH and RBH). Provided with tools for data collection,characterisationand storage, the post holder will engage patients,familiesand staff toidentifyunmet needs, supporting them to describe the challenges they face. This might be through direct, in-person conversation, presentation at network events, secondary interactions with staff, receiving electronic submissions or in response to promotional materials.


The post holder will join andorganisethePaediatricTechnologies HealthTech Research Panel (“the panel”), presenting the unmet needs they have found, supporting their promotion to the core HRC teams for research support.Where we are successful in gaining HRC support and are able to set up projects in response, the post holder will liaise with project teams, the panel, and academic and industrial partners.


It is expected that the specific projects managed by the post holder will change over time as the portfolio of work changes.





Main responsibilities


Project Management

• Actively gather unmet needs within a provided,computeriseddatabase, ensuring that as far as possible, records areaccurate,completeand current.

• Coordinate interactions between key stakeholder groups and thePaediatricTechnologies Panel.

• Lead service level workshops with admin,managementand clinical teams. Produce presentation material and follow up information to introduce change projects and delivery plans.

• Provide scheduled highlight and exception reports per project, tracking milestones, for circulation to more senior project leads

• Co-ordinate minutes, agendas and papers for distribution in preparation for meetings, ensuring this is done in a timely manner.

Financial management

• Manage a delegated budget for own area of work to ensure best value for money, including signing off invoices,monitoringexpenditure and providing budgetary reports.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical nurse specialist team in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) at the Royal Brompton Hospital.The post holder will join the existing ACHD clinical nurse specialist and work as a key member of a successful multidisciplinary team including cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, physiologists and administrative staff. All team members are supported in their professional development and encouraged to take an active role in service development

The role will be based at Royal Brompton Hospital but with clinical work at taking place in outreach clinics within the network.

This role will primarily support the inpatient and outpatient service with nurse led clinics for the Adult Congenital Heart Disease service.

The post holder will be expected to be autonomous in their clinical practice and work with the multi-disciplinary team members.

East Wing 10 HDU is an integral part of the large and dynamic Critical Care department at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT), caring for both surgical and medical patients. These are patients who have either been stepped down from Intensive Care, or those requiring a step up in care from ward level and the Emergency Department. These patients often require support of one or more organs, such as with non-invasive ventilation, renal replacement therapy and advanced cardiovascular support, all of which require close monitoring and observation.

The Royal Brompton cystic fibrosis (CF) clinical trials department comprises of clinicians, academics, allied health professionals and admin/ finance members. The Brompton adult & paediatric CF centres are made up of world leading teams carrying out global, multicentre interventional and observational studies, in both adults and children, being led by Profs Davies, Simmonds and colleagues. The Brompton is the lead site for an early-phase, multicentre trial of CFTR gene therapy led globally by Prof Eric Alton; this post has been created primarily to support this trial, whilst also working alongside the team across the CF trials portfolio.

You will be responsible for all matters relating to data collection/management, involving direct patient interactions and provision of administrative support for trial-related activities for the gene therapy study. This role requires the post holder to be able to handle a varied/extensive workload. Training will be provided in all aspects of the role.

You will support the other research taking place within the CF trials department, based at the Royal Brompton campus, close to the vibrant King’s Road, Chelsea. We are looking for a forward-thinking and motivated nurse to join the Neighbourhood Nursing teams across Lambeth and Southwark areas.

We are the first Trust in the UK to trial the Buurtzorg District Nursing Model: an entirely Nurse-led approach to patient care in the community with self-managed nursing teams. You will find yourself working in a completely different way.

You will have strong experience in Sleep and ideally in Ventilation also. You will be actively involved in the team roster and have experience in the setting up/analyzing of diagnostic sleep studies (e.g-Respiratory Polygraphy and Full Polysomnography) and in implementing treatment with CPAP therapy and Noninvasive ventilation in the inpatient and outpatient setting. An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Psychologist or appropriately qualified cognitive behavioural therapist working across outpatient clinics and inpatient settings. Working within a highly supportive team, this role will provide psychological support to patients living with chronic lung conditions.

Clinical work involves provision of psychological assessment and intervention to support physical and mental health predominantly for individuals living with a severe asthma however the post holder maybe required to support patients with a range of lung conditions, for example chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease and bronchiectasis, as well as contributing to the multi-disciplinary healthcare and staff education.

We are seeking experienced nurses with a strong background in Haematology and Oncology Nursing to join our team. Ideal candidates will have the expertise to deliver advanced nursing services in the specialised areas of cell therapies and complex immunotherapies. Experience in the delivery of systemic anticancer therapy is essential and post-registration qualifications in Oncology or Haematology is also required.

This position will be part of our dedicated cell therapy team, reporting to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in cell therapy. As a specialist nurse, you will play a key role in delivering expert care in cell therapies and complex immunotherapies, managing and coordinating treatment plans for a caseload of patients referred for these therapies.



As a CNS you will need to have an understanding of oncological & haematological conditions and treatments, have good communication skills, and patient assessment skills. We require a nurse who is flexible, dynamic, self-motivated and reliable in addition to being passionate about nursing and the patient experience. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication across the specialty teams, multidisciplinary teams, referring hospitals, local cancer networks, and tertiary referral centres. Your role will also involve providing support, advice, and education to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary care for patients and their carers. This role will involve supporting with horizon planning for treatments across the treatment areas as well as supporting the delivery of some treatments.

The main purpose of the role is to act as Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), providing expert treatment and care, coordination and support for patients receiving systemic anticancer therapy

The role will involve effective teamwork and communication with a wide spectrum of multidisciplinary teams. The post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical expertise when identifying and caring for the specific needs of patients and their families.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to advancing the body of knowledge through education, research and audit as well as developing practice in others with regard to this patient group. This post offers an excellent opportunity to engage in planning, delivery and evaluation of treatment.

Excellent interpersonal skills, senior nursing experience, knowledge of cancer and treatments and the ability to work sensitively and collaboratively with diverse teams is essential.

Previous experience in Haematology/ Oncology and chemotherapy along with evidence of a high level of clinical expertise and continuing professional development are considered essential to this role.
