About the unit

This 48-bed unit is dedicated to ortho/neuro/trauma. Some specific diagnoses’ are total knee, total hip, spinal fusions, and fractured hips. We are Stroke and Trauma certified and complete additional education every three months to better care for this population of patients. Our multidisciplinary team includes RN’s, nurse techs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, PT/OT, orthopedic care coordinator and case managers, Nurse to patient ration is 1:4-6 and Nurse Assistant ratio is 1:8-10.

RN PCU

Full Time, Midnights 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

This seventy-two bed PCU practices patient and family centered care. The unit acuity level of patients is progressive care. Our unit consists of initiative-taking, skilled Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Telemetry Technicians working together as a Team. FH PCU cares for a wide variety of critically ill patients who require cardiac drips with need for titration, ventilated patients, and those that require a higher level of supportive care.

About the unit 

5 North is a 38-bed unit caring for a wide variety of medical, surgical, and chronically ill patients.  The unit specializes in the care of diabetes (insulin drips) and renal failure (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis).  The unit can accommodate patients who need telemetry (monitored remotely) and oximetry.  The patient/nurse ratio is adjusted based on acuity.  Our nurse’s partner with Universities to help student nurses succeed through precepting, support, and role modeling.  Our goal is to provide all patients the highest quality health care services that are delivered efficiently, effectively, and compassionately while welcoming their families. This unit also covers the 8-bed infusion center which is also included on the 3rd floor.

Scope of work

Under supervision of a Nurse and following hospital policies and procedures, performs various nursing care tasks and treatments on assigned patients. Performs routine bedside nursing activities including bathing and personal grooming of patients; ambulating, moving and turning patients; assisting patients with bedpans or urinary devices; making patient beds and caring for personal property. Assists in performing additional nursing procedures such as catheterizations, suctioning, irrigating colostomies, applying restraints, giving enemas, douches and sitz baths or pericare.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Senior Oncology Data Analyst is responsible for all aspects of Oncology database management and provides guidance on the Cancer Program Standards necessary for CoC Cancer Program approval. The incumbent will oversee all facets of the cancer database and provide oversight for less experienced analysts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Assists in leading all Oncology Data Services operations including: case finding; case analysis; abstracting; patient follow-up; national and state cancer data submissions; policies and procedures; dynamic reporting requirement updates; quality control review and process improvement.

2. Leads and trains the registry/research study staff; assists with establishing and evaluating performance.

3. Monitor and maintain operational resources and supplies. Assists with maintenance of staff timekeeping for payroll submission. Makes recommendations for and justifies changes involving equipment and personnel.

4. Reviews dates of changes in department operations including coding/staging systems.

5. Develops and maintains performance improvement plans and projects for the cancer registry and cancer program, along with collection and analysis of the data.

6. Develops criteria to assess accuracy of data and run reports to assess quality.

7. Review and provide data, lists, reports, statistical/comparison analyses & presentations for approved requests.

8. Facilitates Cancer Committee meetings & CoC on-site consultation and survey activities.

9. Coordinates various departments, physicians and disciplines to provide required documentation to the cancer committee for review, evaluation, recommendations and follow-up.

10. Help to achieve Patient Outcomes standards by contributing to cancer program goals, patient care improvement measures, accountability measures, assessment of evaluation and treatment planning, studies of quality and quality improvements.

11. Co-administers registry database application; facilitates upgrades and resolution of user issues.

• Must stay current with the changes in the CoC registry operations and standards for cancer program approval and all of the various references and resources required to maintain accuracy of data analysis.

• Must possess good organization and prioritization skills.

• Interpersonal skills necessary to develop effective relationships and communicate/collaborate with members of the medical staff and other staff members.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing Required
• Bachelors in Nursing  Preferred
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
• Specialty Certification highly recommended within 2 years
• 2 years of experience as an RN preferred, OR RN experience required

Farmington Hills - Full time, 80 hours per pay period, afternoon shift.

Essential Functions

• Provides professional customer service as a liaison between the pharmacy department and patients/caregivers. Interacts with prescriber as needed.
• Processes physician/nurse/pharmacist obtained patient histories and enters into the computer system and assists in maintaining patient profiles.
• Reviews profile for allergies, duplication of drugs, and last doses and brings these to the attention of the pharmacist.
• Checks and verifies accuracy of patient profiles.
• Maintains clean and organized work area.
• Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications. Completes all Spectrum Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.
• Perform quality assurance data collection, collation, and presentation.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

About the unit

This 31-bed unit is dedicated to Oncology and Med-Surg overflow. This unit schedules daily short stays for chemotherapy treatment, blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies and cardiac catheterization. Also specializes with surgical patients with epidurals and can accommodate telemetry patients. The nurse patient ratio is based on acuity, census, and activity. This unit also covers the 8-bed infusion center which is also included on the 3rd floor.
