St George’s School is expanding

St George’s is a secondary special school on the Isle of Wight providing education for students with severe and complex needs.

In September 2024 we opened a satellite provision for young people with SEMH needs, St George’s Studio in East Cowes, where we have been embedding trauma informed practice, including the therapeutic classrooms approach.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of high quality inclusive teaching, including maintenance of all subject curriculum related documentation, including student progress, attainment and accreditation.

The post will require elements of delivering maths, English, functional skills and life skills alongside promoting independence and preparation for adulthood. It will also include aspects of creative and artistic subjects, and therefore the ideal candidate will have a broad range of teaching experience, but with a particular interest in Arts and Craft.

You will develop your practice to effectively meet the needs of our students, supporting them to progress in line with school expectations, or exceed them with additional support. You will develop positive working relationships, sharing good practice across school, and take a lead in identifying areas for your own professional development through your reflective practice.

To apply for our role, you need to meet the following criteria

Have held a full UK driving licence (or approved foreign licence) for at least 2 1/2 years
Have not been banned from driving in the last 4 years
Have no more than 6 points on your licence.

Applicant ideally will be a fully qualified driving instructor although if not, full training can be provided.

• You will administer, advise, and oversee on the Personnel Security Program requirements.
• You will conduct in-progress reviews and evaluates plans/programs execution for compliance with established goals and objectives and identifies shortfalls/improvements and recommends modifications to plans as necessary.
• You will organize, notify, and track training requirements.
• You will administer and advise on various human resources programs including recruiting, on-boarding, separations, position descriptions, awards, and performance evaluations/appraisals.

Starting at $98,240 Per Year (GS 12)

• You will develop spreadsheets to report current status of training.
• You will analyze individual and group training and development needs to monitor the effectiveness of programs.
• You will create course effectiveness evaluations for operational curriculum and courseware.
• You will advise the command on matters pertaining to training and education programs.
• You will brief leadership on the progress achieved toward meeting strategic objectives.
• You will develop action plans to correct training deficiencies discovered during assessments.

Starting at $81,963 Per Year (GS 11)

• You will relay critical information to staff members, management, or external customers via telephone or in person.
• You will research rules, regulations, and procedures to resolve questions or issues.
• You will process travel vouchers in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations (JTR).
• You will prepare and assemble background material to include historical reports, pertinent regulations and directives, mission, and functional statements and SOPs for inclusion in correspondence.
