The Department of Biosciences is composed of 62 academic staff and research fellows; around 50 research and technical support staff; over 90 Research Postgraduate students and over 500 Single Honours undergraduate students, and also teaches students from the Natural Sciences programme. The Department is committed to an ethos of research-led teaching at both BSc and MBiol levels, and was ranked 5th in the UK for Biological Sciences Departments in the Complete University Guide 2024.

Our basic science underpins applications across each-and-every sector of the bio-economy, including Biotechnology, Ecology and Agritechnology. Research programmes are grouped in the following areas: Molecular Plant Sciences; Biomolecular Interactions; Ecology, Evolution and Environment; and Animal Cells and Systems. These groups organise focused seminar series, Research Away Days, manage joint research facilities, oversee mentoring, internal peer review and serve to nucleate larger research projects. Along with our excellent research facilities such as bioimaging, proteomics, metabolomics and genomics we offer a high quality and supportive environment for our research staff.

The Role and the Department

The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is looking to recruit a Grade 4 Learning and Teaching Administrator to join the Learning and Teaching team in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. As well as having responsibility for the Faculty's well-established Liberal Arts programme, the team is also responsible for the delivery of a suite of interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes some of which are delivered remotely, that launched in October 2024. As well as having responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of student-facing processes administered by the Faculty Office, the role will therefore be able to contribute to the development of new processes underpinning the delivery of these new programmes. The postholder will also be expected to provide an excellent staff and student experience as the first point of contact for enquiries relating to the Faculty's programmes and processes. The role will involve:

* Supporting key education processes, liaising with other team members as well as professional services colleagues in colleges, departments and central services.

* Under the direction of the L&T Manager and working with other members of the Faculty Learning and Teaching team, take responsibility for day-to-day support for the Faculty's Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Taught programmes, acting as a key point of contact for enquiries relating to admissions, induction, registration, progression, module and programme changes. Candidates who apply using equivalence principles e.g., access to higher education courses, may need to complete Essential Skills Wales communication and application of number. Proof of qualifications will be required. You will undertake a training programme approved by the GPhC for the initial education and training of pharmacy technicians. All candidates who do not already hold the qualification Essential Skills Wales digital literacy at level 2will need to complete this as part of the programme. To complete the programme, candidates will need the ability and enthusiasm to undertake a modern apprenticeship training programme which will take two years to complete. This involves working full time (37.5 hours a week) in a pharmacy, building a portfolio of evidence, work-based assessment, on-line learning, study days and group work and following the GPhC Standards for Pharmacy Professionals. A commitment to studying outside working hours is essential as well as an ability to meet the deadlines set during your training programme. Experience of working effectively both in a team and independently and previous pharmacy experience are desirable but not essential for this post.

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Training Facilitator to join our team and enhance the quality of social care across the county.

In this role, you will work flexibly across various care settings, locations, and providers to develop and deliver training programs that ensure care is provided in accordance with current standards.

​This is a fixed term post for 2 years.

Main Responsibilities

As a Training Facilitator, you will:

• Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs tailored to diverse settings and audiences.
• Ensure compliance with current standards by staying updated on changes in regulations and best practices.
• Create bespoke training programs and deliver recognised programs such as Oliver McGowan.
• Provide advice, guidance, and support to care providers to promote and achieve best practices.
• Participate in quality assurance activities including evaluation and self-assessment to drive continuous improvement.

The Ideal Candidate
What You Will Bring:

• A proven track record in developing and delivering training programs to adult learners.
• Relevant work experience within a social care provider setting.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex care needs.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize workloads.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with staff at all levels and build effective relationships with stakeholders and other professionals.

What You Will Have:

• A Level 3 qualification in training and/or assessment.
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
• Proficiency in information and communication technology.
• Demonstrable literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to travel independently across the county as required.
