University College London Hospitals (UCLH) undertakes world-class research across many specialities including early phase, cancer, haematology, and neurology. As a senior research pharmacy technician (or Science Manufacturing Technician) you will be part of the pharmacy clinical trials team facilitating this research. Your key role is to set up new studies, maintain current and historical studies, and oversee the storage and receipt of clinical trials medicines. You will also be an important part of the team providing a high-quality dispensary service to our patients.


The postholder will acquire a broad overview of injectable research medicines, research delivery, dispensary management, and research governance, therefore would suit anyone with an interest in these areas. Prior experience of clinical trials or hospital pharmacy is desirable but not required.

Ideally you will be a GPhC registered pharmacy technician with 1-2 years’ experience although all training and support will be provided by our supportive team including our education & training lead. Those wishing to enrol on formal training courses can do so via external (on application) and in-house learning & development programmes.

The Rheumatology Research Team at University College London Hospital (UCLH) is expanding and are seeking two Band 5 Nurses to join the team. This role offers an opportunity to enter the exciting filed of clinical research without prior research experience. The Rheumatology Research Department works on a portfolio of UCLH sponsored and hosted studies. We recruit to studies for adult and adolescent patients with inflammatory conditions. Maintain a full and accurate audit trail of key decisions, actions and outputs, including but not limited to risk and issue logs, project/milestone plans, update/highlight reports, and action plans, and to adjust, if targets/deadlines are not met. Participate in the evaluation of the training and produce documents, reports and presentations on a regular basis. Link in with the GP/pharmacy lead to ensure the smooth and robust delivery of level 2 training. Review the project status regularly to ensure that time scales and other requirements of the project plan are being met. Ensure that the perspectives of a wide range of stakeholders are integrated into the work of the project, working with teams and managers to identify training needs and develop new ways of delivering training. Undertake extensive community engagement and community involvement, including to identify training needs and consider co-production. Promote the service and facilitate referrals as required. Manage internal and external barriers to engagement with training Be self-motivated and able to work on their own. The post holder will be required to work autonomously with minimal supervision, managing own workload and schedule Recruit, train and lead the volunteers for Camden and Islington Stop Smoking Service Supervise, support and provide adequate training to the volunteers to ensure they are equipped with appropriate skills and well managed to carry out their roles.
