In Key Stage 3, students have 2 hours of Geography lessons per week with lessons based on the National Curriculum guidelines. KS4 students study the GCSE AQA specification which includes fieldwork in Oxford and the River Chess for the human and physical enquiries. Case study examples of Nigeria, Jamaica, London and Rio de Janeiro are studied. We are delighted to have recently introduced A Level Geography at Aylesbury Vale Academy, with our first cohort currently in Year 12. We follow the Edexcel A2 Specification. Our students are very fortunate in the extra-curricular activities offered to them at Aylesbury Vale Academy. Our Eco-club meets weekly and over the past year has been involved in community projects to reduce litter, has run school-wide competitions and has attended a national farming day in Hertfordshire. In addition, fieldwork is embedded in our curriculum, making use of the school environment, local area as well as travelling further afield. Our department’s first international trip to Iceland ran in spring 2024; we plan to run this trip again in 2026.

About the role
We are looking to appoint a creative, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join the SEND Department. The successful candidate would be expected to have the knowledge and skills to support students with a variety of specific needs, including the delivery of targeted intervention outside of the classroom. You will be suitably qualified with experience of working with children in one of the four areas of SEND, and reporting to the Assistant Principal/SENDCo.

PURPOSE OF JOB

•To act as Cover Supervisor, covering/supervising whole classes during the short-termabsence of teachers.

•To work with withdrawal and small groups to provide support and intervention.

•To lead a team of Assistant Teachers as required.

•To work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planningcycle and the management/preparation of resources.

•To complement teachers’ delivery of the national curriculum and contribute to thedevelopment of other support staff, pupils and Academy policies and strategies.

•To provide support for pupils, the teacher and the Academy in order to raise standardsof achievement for all pupils (e.g. additional SEN, EAL, GT, FSM, underachievers), byutilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning,monitoring, assessing and managing classes.

•To encourage pupils to become independent learners, to provide support for theirwelfare, and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life.

Training and Recruitment Officer (Domiciliary Care Services)
Are you an experienced Training and Recruitment Officer looking for a new challenge? We're recruiting on behalf of a leading domiciliary care service provider seeking a passionate and qualified individual to manage the entire recruitment process and deliver in-person care certificate training to their team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the full recruitment process from application to onboarding for all new hires.
• Deliver in-person Care Certificate training to ensure all employees meet compliance standards.
• Conduct staff assessments and maintain up-to-date training records.
• Collaborate with management to ensure staffing needs are met efficiently.
• Provide ongoing development and support to the care team.

Requirements:

• Strong background in training and recruitment within the care sector.
• Knowledge and experience in delivering compliance and Care Certificate training.
• Relevant educational qualifications in care and/or training.

Relevant Educational Qualifications:

• NVQ or QCF in Health and Social Care: A Level 3 or above qualification in Health and Social Care is necessary, particularly for trainers in care settings.
• Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA): This qualification allows individuals to assess and train staff in the workplace.
• Train the Trainer Certificate: This course is designed to enhance teaching skills and is often a requirement for those conducting training sessions.

Experience in the Care Sector:

Additional Requirements:
