• Research managers will work closely with policy colleagues across the GMC to understand their research needs.

Audience Research and Advocacy is part of Science Museum Group's (SMG) Communications department. About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to manage the team across SMG, in close collaboration with the Audience Research Manager based in the South, to aid SMG's mission to inspire futures. As Audience Research Manager you will apply your knowledge and experience of audience research to develop and deliver an engaging and inspiring offer for all audiences, supporting SMG's 'Open for All' policy.

You will manage the team, planning and co-ordinating strategic audience research and evaluation. You will use a 'science capital' approach in all your work to encourage equitable focused practice and ensure a broader people feel more at home with science.

In this role you will manage budgets and foster relationships with stakeholders, including commissioning and managing work by external research contractors so that high-quality and actionable findings are delivered to project teams on time and within budget.

About you
Joining us you will have experience of people management, with the ability to manage, influence, motivate and coach team members. You will be a good communicator with the ability to develop relationships, advocate for your work and influence senior stakeholders.

You will be able to manage budgets and projects successfully from conception to delivery, with effective planning and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and coordinate multiple projects to meet conflicting deadlines.

Crucially, you will have experience planning complex audience research projects, using audience research methodologies, in addition to experience working with people from a range of potential museum visitor groups e.g. families, adults, community groups, education groups, visitors with additional needs.

JOB PURPOSE:

The role also involves the overseeing of Central Operations and developing the Team as a link between the sites and central functions. The Commercial Project Portfolio Manager serves as a crucial link between OFG’s senior management, and project stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and effective communication.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of key projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Ensure projects align with Outcomes First Group's (OFG) strategic objectives and contribute to the organisation’s mission of providing high-quality care and education.
Act as the primary liaison between senior management, and project stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing any issues that arise.

Technical skills:

JOB PURPOSE:

To be responsible for:

delivering strategic projects across Outcomes First Group Limited (OFGL)
supporting operational colleagues in the delivery of the business change enabled by those strategic projects, and the establishment of usage and benefit measures
ensuring ongoing support arrangements are established for solutions delivered by projects, those arrangements being in place within the OFGL Project Team
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Creation of Business Cases for Strategic Projects (incorporating scope and objectives), working with colleagues to identify anticipated benefits and designing mechanisms to measures tangible benefits
Establish business requirements at the commencement of a project, using a variety of business analysis techniques, including but not limited to business process design, user experience analysis and workshop facilitation
Establish non-functional as well as functional requirements, including but not limited to resilience and security
Agree, document and apply the appropriate solution delivery approach, including predictive (e.g. waterfall) and adaptive (e.g. agile/iterative)
Coordinate permanent and contract resources and third-party input for the predictable execution of projects, allocating resources to project tasks appropriately
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
Develop and manage a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
Ensure the preparation, review and sign off of all project deliverables, including interim project deliverables such as requirements documentation and test plans
Provide effective leadership to the project team, and take appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.
Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate change management techniques
Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
Regularly report project status to project governance bodies and individuals, escalating as needed
Manage the relationship with and communication with all stakeholders, including third parties

Work within the provisions of the Data Protection Act, observing strict confidentiality in relation to all aspects of work undertaken, referring to the Data Protection Manager when necessary.
Respond sensitively and professionally in supporting and maintaining good relationships with colleagues and all contacts who work in partnership with the Group.
The ability to have a flexible approach to developing ideas and solutions, using the most appropriate tools for the job.

Contribute to the development of performance and governance strategies and support the development and implementation of improvement programmes, in accordance with local and Divisional priorities Contribute to development and achievement of short-, medium- and long-term business plans and objectives Organise and schedule research meetings, ensuring appropriate accommodation, attendance and distribution of papers, and that an agenda is agreed Coordinate, manage and monitor work flow within the observational and supportive care team in collaboration with RM/clinical leads Policy and Service Development Contribute to the review of existing services to promote development of the observational and supportive care team services Where appropriate develop operational procedures in collaboration with the quality assurance leads Support the directorate operational leads in service development plans to align with national and local strategic priorities Performance Management Contribute to the development and maintenance of the infrastructure to measure and monitor performance within the observational and supportive care team to ensure that performance is in line with key performance indicators Optimise working practices to maintain and continuously improve efficiencies within the observational and supportive care team in collaboration with key stakeholders Participate in the monitoring of compliance with all relevant standards Business Planning and Financial Management Support the development and production of business plans for services/projects as required Analyse and interpret complex data in order to deliver well-presented information Support clinical leads and business planning to ensure targets are met to maximise income. Support the use of service line reporting to inform financial management Liaise with relevant stakeholders in the development of grant applications Management and Leadership Direct line management responsibility for non-clinical staff within the observational and supportive care team including administrative workload allocation Provide leadership within the observational and supportive care team and act as a role model and resource for all team members Responsible for recruitment, retention, disciplinary and grievance, and all staffing management issues in accordance with relevant Trust policies Contribute to the delivery of training programmes Work collaboratively to identify and meet the learning needs of observational and supportive care team members Maintain own and professional development and identify learning needs and opportunities Information Management Working collaboratively to ensure that all relevant internal and external stakeholders are provided with high-quality, timely, well-presented and relevant data reports supporting stakeholders in understanding operational efficiency, performance against national and local targets, activity and financial performance, and service size, configuration and potential for growth. Establish working practices to ensure data is accurately collated and maintained, including externally facing information e.g., web pages Ensure research outputs are communicated appropriately Communication Communicate complex research information in written and oral format to internal and external parties Work, liaise and communicate with colleagues across the Trust, including service support areas to improve the delivery and quality of research and research services Where appropriate attend observational and supportive care team meetings to present information. Represent the observational and supportive care team projects at national conferences and workshops, leading on presentations as required. Work collaboratively within all teams in the Division of Research to maintain and enhance partnerships withpharmaceutical companies, other NHS sites and academia.
