Job title: Head of Faculty Science

Location: Oak Tree School, Truro, Cornwall

Salary: Up to £42,200 per annum depending on experience

Hours: Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm

Contract: Permanent; Term time only

Due to growth in service, we are recruiting for Head of Faculty Science to join our amazing team.

Core tasks and responsibilities (in addition to those of a classroom teacher):

to raise standards of pupil attainment and achievement within the faculty.
monitor and support pupil progress through liaising with the Academic Intervention Co-ordinator as appropriate
to be accountable for pupil progress and outcomes within the faculty
to ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils studying in the department across all Key Stages
to be accountable for leading and developing the faculty curriculum. Ensure the range of subjects and qualifications are regularly reviewed in response to national developments and the needs of the school and students
to deploy financial and physical resources within the faculty effectively to support the school and faculty development plans
to work in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team to develop, implement and evaluate the whole school faculty strategy
Essential

Relevant honours degree
QTS status
Knowledge of recent developments in learning and teaching
A reflective practitioner who consistently seeks to improve their teaching to support learning and accelerate student progress
A good understanding of effective ways to facilitate learning
A strong understanding of the relevant subject curriculum
Good working knowledge of all Key Stage subject related qualifications

Oak Tree School in Truro has recently expanded and developed two new buildings and undergone a successful inspection from Ofsted allowing us to offer a wider age range of pupils from 5 – 18 years the opportunity to have the best education possible. Oak Tree School is a specialist SEMH provision positioned near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 135 pupils and young people aged 5 to 18 who experience social, emotional, mental health, communication difficulties and associated challenging behaviours. These pupils and young people often cannot cope, function or achieve within a mainstream environment. The aim is to provide a structured, nurturing approach, with pupils accessing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum to meet their significant needs.

What are my responsibilities as Registered Manager?

To monitor and support the delivery of person-centred services to all people using our service within your defined area.
To ensure effective financial administration of the services delivered, through the effective deployment of staff and budgets
The overall operation of the services ensuring the smooth running and the allocation and management of staff
The delivery of excellent operational services, regularly supervising the Team Leaders
Ensuring the effective and efficient provision of support to the people using the services
You will need to be able to demonstrate excellent administrative skills and be able to organise and priorities your workload whilst being financially astute
You will need to be experienced in social care management and CQC Framework and will possess excellent knowledge of Health & Social Services and applicable regulations/legislation.
You will have experience of motivating and enabling a staff team to achieve good outcomes in partnership with the people we support, and with an emphasis on role modelling best practice in a care environment
You will have a proven track record of improving and developing services for people with disabilities.

You will join us with a QCF Level 5 Adult Management Diploma, or equivalent qualification, or be eligible to complete the Level 5 Diploma

Leadership of the provision of specific aspects of learning and development within ACCT. This may include delivery of partnership modules, support of pre-registration students and other learners, leadership and management training and clinical skills development. Operational leadership and management of specific educational requirements. Lead work streams for both quality improvement and financial value with regards to educational related activities. Promote and support staff to further their academic qualification level. In conjunction with other educators, ensure that we have support in place for pre-registration students and all learners with appropriate mentorship and supervision. Liaise and build relationships with the relevant Higher Education Institute(s) and external bodies such as Health Education England to ensure that RCHT meets learning requirements and participates in development. Liaise and collaborate with external agencies and other organisations to promote the development of education within the Sustainability and Transformation Plan. Act as a role model and skilled practitioner to inspire excellence, constantly demonstrating the highest standards of care and professionalism. Provide an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice. To represent their specialty and at times their division in corporate wide forums, operational groups and committees, providing an expert nursing contribution. To work with colleagues across the organisation to deliver the ambitions of the Trusts Strategic Plan.
