To ensure the smooth daily running of the part of the Transport operation based in Nottingham, and to maintain suitable connections between that and the main Distribution operation.



· Leading by example

· Briefing and debriefing of drivers

· Printing and supply of run sheets, with resultant planning and communication of suitable working hours for drivers

· Route and hours planning to cover additional requirements

· Maintaining consumable supplies in consultation with customer requirement

· Compilation and emailing of evening report

· Assessing driver run sheets to identify timing and location problems, and liaising with Onsite Management Team to resolve faults

· Investigating, reporting and resolving quality issues with driver performance

· Checking fleet for damage and taking appropriate action to resolve vehicle defects

· Ensuring fleet remains clean, presentable and safe

· Locking up and ensuring overnight security of Depot

· Maintenance and communication of evening cover rota

· Ensuring that all staff, visitors and contractors follow Health & Safety protocols

· Ensuring revenue protection and compliance with MICOP regulation to maintain security of mail

The Learning Team forms part of the Learning & Organisational Development Department (People Directorate) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. We are a well-established team that delivers on-boarding programmes, mandatory training, designs and develops eLearning and manages the Trust-wide Learning Management System.

The Learning Admin Manager is responsible for key systems and processes across the function and leads the Learning Helpdesk that provides valuable support and guidance to 19,000 NUH employees accessing the Learning Management System.

About the Role

The Learning Admin Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Learning Helpdesk, line managing the team that handles queries from NUH employees accessing the Learning Management System to complete training.

As Research Manager you will:

Act as the key point of contact for research operations across the School and report on research activity to senior leaders.
Provide expert advice and guidance on the resourcing of research, and manage and approve budgets for externally and internally funded research grant applications.
Partner with central Research and Innovation teams to ensure smooth approval of applications, set up of successful projects, processing of contract requests and appropriate monitoring of research activity.
Provide specialist advice to budget holders on the best use of grant income, including budget and forecast guidance.
Contribute to the Faculty RKE team by sharing good practice.

The Research & Innovation (R&I) Department at NUH is one of the focal points for clinical research in Nottingham and the East Midlands. The Research Data & Outputs Manager fulfils a key role within the R&I team, managing the requirements within the department, in addition to providing practical support with reporting functions across the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre, NIHR Nottingham Clinical Research Facility, and wider research activities undertaken within the Trust.

The post holder will be responsible for producing clear and accurate data reports, and providing research business information to colleagues within the department and across the Trust. The post holder will need to work effectively with the R&I team, research colleagues, system suppliers, and wider stakeholders, including local and national research partners.

The post holder will be based at the Queens Medical Centre campus, but will be required to travel to the City Hospital campus and other locations as required. The post holder will also be required to work flexibly within the needs of the business to accommodate periods of peak workloads as required.

Data Management and Reporting
• Produce reports reflecting Research & Innovation and NIHR infrastructure activity for both internal performance management and external reporting to the NIHR and others, ensuring accuracy throughout.
• To fully comprehend and manage the varied reporting requirements of the Trust, NIHR, and other partners in order to produce timely reports, to a high quality in a timely manner, related to infrastructure reporting.
• Proactively ensure the accuracy and validity of data, raise and manage data queries, and ensure appropriate audit trails are in place, including verification with national data systems where necessary.
• With minimal supervision, develop and manage bespoke reports for various audiences, delegating to members of the team as appropriate.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of the data contained in research business data systems e.g. LPMS and CPMS, and how this can be accessed.
• Work with the wider research team and internal partners e.g. Key Support Services, to identify efficient working practices for research business data management, such as for study set up and delivery.
• Development of complex reporting using spreadsheets (e.g. MS Excel), including use for data capture, manipulation, and analysis.
• Regularly work interchangeably across multiple platforms.
• Write, review, and update SOPs and reporting guidelines.
• To lead the collection and maintenance of data required for national targets and metrics for research activities, including data input into external portals as required.
• To keep up-to-date with information practices and policies across the local partner organisations and in line with national requirements.
• Develop relationships with leads within the NIHR infrastructure to manage the flow of accurate information on a regular basis.



General role related
• Responsible for the line management of other individuals within the Business Information (BI) team, including supporting their development and growth within the department.
• Read and understand new legislation and national guidelines to stay up to date on the latest research governance processes (including information governance), changes in study designs, and national agenda.
• Maintain a familiarity with the NHS research lifespan, including terminologies and processes.
• Work flexibly to accommodate local and national requirements, including meeting hard deadlines on a regular basis.
• Regularly communicate with, and manage expectations of, different parties in an appropriate manner, including senior management.
• Understanding of the Trust and R&I strategy to identify areas of opportunity.
• Attend meetings on behalf of NUH R&I, both internally and externally, where appropriate.
• To work with the R&I IG lead to ensure compliance of data in connection with the NUH Information Governance Asset register regarding research business data and business data capture systems used by Research & Innovation.
• Actively build working relationships with internal colleagues, as well as wider colleagues around the Trust and region.



Systems Development & Management
• Where appropriate, identify and support developments of business data capture systems used within the department, including liaising with external providers as required.
• Where required, liaise with the Trust ICT and Business Intelligence colleagues to report R&I business data through Trust reporting systems e.g. QlikSense. Provide support to all users of the research business data systems, including the provision of advice and specialist training, the development of guidance and procedures, and user/system administration as required.
• To work closely with key suppliers and build effective relationships.
• Maintain an understanding of the systems used and their functionality, with an ability to troubleshoot issues as required.

The Learning & Development Team forms part of the Learning & Organisational Development Department (People Directorate) at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. We are a well-established team that delivers on-boarding programmes, management development training, designs and develops eLearning, and manages the Trust-wide Learning Management System.

Our existing L&D Manager will commence Maternity Leave in March 2024. We are looking for an individual that will continue to drive the service to meet both the evolving needs of our staff and strategic goals.

About the Role

The role will manage the team responsible for the provision of a range of learning and development offers including; on boarding processes (Corporate Induction, Local Induction), Mandatory Training for both statutory and role-related requirements, appraisal processes (excluding Medical Appraisal), Trust-wide training needs analysis and the Trust’s Learning Management System and supporting Helpdesk.

The role will include organising, facilitating and delivering training and learning events, and creating systems and processes to support the effective evaluation and governance of learning and development offers.

This role is crucial in promoting a learning culture within the organisation by aligning corporate programmes to the Trust’s strategic direction and legislative requirements.

• Design and facilitate programmes that underpin organisational strategies
• Lead and interpret a training needs analysis for a large organisation
• Communicate well to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Chair formal meetings

Location & Hours

Our team works both on-site, at City Hospital Nottingham, and remotely from home. This role will require some travel to other NUH sites. Office opening hours are between 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.
