Strategy Development

Adopt the role of LSTM’s trusted REF (Research Excellence Framework) advisor, providing professional management of REF submissions and all subsequent exercises, including supporting the leadership team with the development and implementation of REF strategies.
Analyse, interpret and adopt external guidance and policy, highlighting potential risk and exposure of the organisation and developing appropriate mitigations.




Research Environment & Strategy

Lead regular dialogue and liaison with department heads, global hubs, faculty members and international partners to understand the research needs of the academic community
Develop and implement effective research horizon scanning, intelligence gathering and a strategic funder engagement approach.




External Engagement:

Support the Head of Research Strategy & Knowledge Exchange and senior academics to represent LSTM at relevant national and international forums related to research and knowledge exchange excellence, sharing best practices, and establishing collaborative networks.
Contribute and quality assure information/data returns for relevant Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), including developing local processes to gather appropriate information.



The successful candidate will bring:


Knowledge and experience of research within a higher education context, including REF and/or KEF and Research, Culture and Environment
Significant involvement in previous REF submissions
Knowledge and understanding of relevant funding bodies, their practice and strategic priorities

**Role Purpose:**

The Site Contract Manager will be responsible for the management of all operational cleaning activities on the contract, including labour, plant and equipment operation and maintenance, financial and administrative duties for the Halewood site. They will lead, coach, mentor, and manage an established management team and a team of cleaning and waste operatives, as well as taking responsibility for recruitment and training of future employees.

**Duties and Responsibilities:**

Job Purpose

The purpose of the role is to lead the development and rollout of services across the organisation.

Developing new, high-quality services as well as promoting the continuous improvement of existing services. The role will develop a strategic approach to how we engage with healthcare professionals and organisations to improve and increase the services we offer. This will include the continued development of existing services and analysis of the need for further services in local areas.

Principal Accountabilities

• Develop business cases for service development and improvements where identified, responding to unmet needs.
• Deliver effective implementation and rollout of new services, producing operating guidelines and project management tools to assist in the delivery.
• Ensure that the people we support, their families, representatives and all key stakeholders are involved in service development and design where possible.
• Work with the Business Development Team where applicable, to further develop opportunities, providing narrative and support.
• Contribute to the development of plans, including the mapping of opportunities, stakeholders, unmet needs and priorities, including a plan for managing the transition into new areas.
• Ensure any new services development is based on reliable evidence.

Experience:

• 5 years’ experience of developing new services, service redesign or process improvement, and experience of implementation, preferably in multiple locations.
• 3-year experience of delivering training / professional development ideally in a health or related service.
• Introducing innovative ideas that impact on the Organisation’s strategic plan.
• Ability to assess Risk to business and create strategies to minimise and drive business forward.
• Working collaboratively with sector managers as well as support function managers to align and develop business ideas.
• Good understanding of contract lifecycles.
• Strong understanding of commissioning structures.
• 3 years’ experience of working with senior managers to assist in the development of their local business plan – challenging them not to accept the status quo.

This is an excellent opportunity to join the NHS England North West team as a Head of Finance. Accountable to the Deputy Director of Operational Finance, the post holder will be part of a dynamic team working closely with our 3 Integrated Care Systems to ensure that the NHS across North West England is financially sustainable and obtains value for money while delivering safe and effective services.

The Head of Finance will work as part of a team which oversees c. £17bn annual revenue budget and c. £1bn capital, across three of the largest and most complex ICSs in England, some with significant financial challenges.

The post holder will play an important role in ensuring the production and delivery of robust system financial plans. They will manage one or more senior finance managers and ensure effective review of significant capital business cases as well as taking the lead as a subject matter expert on specific areas of financial analysis and improvement.

The postholder must be a qualified accountant and CCAB member, with significant knowledge of the NHS Financial regime, and able to demonstrate well developed analytical, business and influencing skills specifically but not solely in the areas of investment case development and review, financial planning (both revenue and capital) and cost improvement programmes.

We are recruiting permanently, but will consider secondments.
1. Support the development and delivery of coherent and credible system financial strategies and annual financial plans.
2. Proactively manage the key risks and issues associated with delivery of plans ensuring appropriate actions including escalation are taken to mitigate or respond to emerging delivery risks.
