The ideal applicant will have experience conducting research on Congress and American national government including on one or more of the issues listed above, and must be able to work as part of a collaborative team. The Research Assistant will support CRS analysts in their objective, nonpartisan public policy analysis for and consultation with congressional clients. 

The duties of the Research Assistant include:

• Supporting the work of analysts preparing analytical and descriptive written products that inform congressional understanding of public policy issues and consideration of policy proposals.

The RSPB, in conjunction with BTO and Natural England, are running national surveys of the three key lowland heathland species in 2025 – Nightjar, Woodlark and Dartford Warbler.
We are looking to recruit four Research Assistants, on six-month contracts (from early February to the end of July) to undertake fieldwork for these surveys at various sites (primarily in England). What's the role about?
These posts require experience of conducting fieldwork on lowland heathland, moorland and in conifer plantations, by 1km-square. The post holders should have a good knowledge of the ecology of Nightjars, Woodlarks and Dartford Warblers and should be able to ensure the smooth running of the surveys by dealing diplomatically with all interested parties. Fieldwork will involve long and unsociable hours in the field and will be physically demanding over the contract period. Extensive travel to different sites may also be required. Applicants must be able to regularly travel to, from and within remote locations not served by public transport. If work from a home base is not possible the post holder will be responsible for finding their own accommodation, although the RSPB will be able to contribute towards costs. The successful candidates will be allocated to survey priority sites for each of the species, mainly in southern England, where additional coverage is needed. The surveys will follow the standard national survey methods for each species, with the following survey periods for each species: Woodlark - mid February to late May (2 visits to each square); Dartford Warbler - early April to late June (2 visits); Nightjar - June and July (2 visits). Additionally, surveyors will be asked to record numbers (or absence) of the other species listed in the JNCC heathland bird assemblage. The fieldwork will include a combination of early mornings, and survey work around dawn and dusk.

Assists physicians and extenders in providing proper medical and clerical support for the various orthopedic practice locations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• After appropriate training and documented competency, performs various related procedures including but not limited to wound care, dressings, EKGs, removal of sutures/staples, application/removal of orthopedic casts/splints, and drawing up injections, vaccines, botox, phlebotomy for PRP and assisting with ultrasound procedures.
• Assists in the coordination of patient care under the supervision of the assigned health care provider.
• Prepares and rooms patients within the clinical practice setting according to documenting patient health information, history and medications. Accurately interviews patients and orders radiographs according to physician protocols.
• Following standard work flows, accurately documents all pertinent details in the electronic health record. Reviews and updates the allergy and medication list, social, medical and surgical history and pain screening. With appropriate training and documented competency, may function as a scribe to the provider when needed to maintain clinic work flow.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High School Diploma/GED
• Proof of graduation from an AHN approved Medical Assistant School within five years of application OR proof of one year of work experience as a clinical MA in the last three years.  Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) will also be considered for this position.  Medical Assistant Certification (newly hired medical assistants must complete certification training and/or attempt testing within 30 days of hire. Medical Assistants must obtain certification within 120 days of hire. Once achieved, Medical Assistants must maintain national certification requirements).  Medical Assistant Certification will not be available if the individual is an ATC.
• American Heart Association BLS certification is required.

Preferred

• 3-5 years’ experience as an Ortho Technician,  Medical Assistant, or Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC)

Job Description : 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the provider and as a member of the health care team, assists in coordinating the examination, treatment and health care planning for patients. Assists with other office functions to support patient care and office operations. Follows all established protocols, policies, procedures and standardized workflows.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Using the team based approach, assists in the coordination of patient care under supervision of the health care provider.
• Prepares and rooms patients within the clinical practice setting according to standardized work flows. Accurately obtains patient vital signs, documents patient information, patient history, tobacco, and medication screening. May assist in the administration of depression screening tools. Completes annual wellness visit screenings. Reviews, updates and screens medication list in the EHR. Reviews social history with patient and updates record. If applicable, pends/''cues up'' orders for required age appropriate screenings, patient prescriptions, refills, or other orders based on AHN approved protocols.
• Performs back office testing following approved AHN protocols and policies.
• Assists providers with examination and procedures.
• May serve as a scribe with additional training.
• Provides follow up with patients at designated intervals via patient's preferred method (telephone, electronic, written) in accordance with provider instructions. Notifies patients of test results under the direction of provider in a timely manner.
• Prepares exam room for patient visit. Ensures adequate inventory of medical supplies. Ensures all patient treatment areas are at all times stocked with the appropriate supplies using established inventory standards.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments per established AHN approved policy and manufacturer's guidelines.
• Accurately performs lab controls and equipment checks as assigned.
• Administers and accurately documents medications in accordance with policy and safe practice.
• Documents accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) according to established standards and work flows.
• Accurately performs clerical office functions and other duties as assigned.
• May require floating/travel between physician office locations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High School / GED
• CPR certification
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of Medical Assistant OR 1 year in a direct patient care role, including vital signs. Candidate experience must align with expected clinical duties (i.e., injections, phlebotomy, EKGs)

Certification Requirements:

• Employees who have: graduated from a medical assistant program within five years OR proof of one year of work experience as a medical assistant in the last three years must complete certification training and/or attempt testing within 30 days of hire and must obtain certification within 120 days of hire.
• Accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA)

Employees who have not met the above certification criteria may have the opportunity to sit for a company proctored certification exam when qualified.

Preferred

• Associate's Degree
