We are looking to increase our Education fellows to support Education for Undergraduates and Post Graduate trainees across Barts Health. We are looking for a trainee with an interest in Medical Education. One post would be at Whipps Cross University Hospital and the other at the Royal London . The post is divided between 60% clinical activity of which the shifts will include days, lates,evenings, nights and weekends not exceeding 60% on-call hours. The post is for one year and the core remit will be to support different modalities in Education for the undergraduate and post graduate medical trainees that are based within the Emergency Department. They would also be involved with team based simulation training both within the department and formerly within the Simulation Centres. The successful applicant will be expected to assist Clinical Skills and Simulation for both under and post-graduates across Barts Health. All fellows joining our team will be invited to join our Education Forum where fellows have access to a structured development programme. All our fellows are encouraged to undertake a PG Cert in Education. For those who already have this there will be an opportunity to undertake ILM3 (Leadership & Management Course). Funding will be available towards supporting this.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract from August 2024. The successful applicant will get support and development in this role from the Education Team as well as having a named supervisor in the Emergency Department. The post would typically suit anyone just about to start specialist training or those wishing to undertake further training in medical education as part of an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) from their training programme. Prior agreement must be sought with the relevant Specialty Training Committee (STC). The post will be 40% education commitment and 60% clinically rota duties within the Emergency Department.

The successful applicant will; Provide an expert level of clinical and technical pharmacy services to the cancer directorate for UHSx Act as a lead clinical pharmacy practitioner for adult cancer services responsible for the delivery, development, evaluation and co-ordination of clinical pharmacy services in line with the objectives of the division and the UHSx pharmacy strategy Act as a lead clinical pharmacy practitioner for all clinical pharmacy aspects of clinical governance within the adult cancer services including clinical risk, clinical audit and education and teaching Work as a non-medical prescriber to deliver a broad service to the cancer directorate. The Education Academy within Barts Health is expanding in response to the need with increasing numbers of students and trainees and commitment to offer the best educational experience for our trainees. There is a real need to ensure that students receive excellent tuition and that trainees have the best possible educational supervision. In line with our Education Strategy, we intend to improve education by building an Education Fellow faculty base made up of Specialty Teaching Fellows who contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate training and support Inter-professional Innovations.

Barts Health Simulation Service has four dedicated Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Centres based at Newham University Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London. Each of these centres has a proud history of being innovative and award winning. These departments are teaching areas with fully equipped simulation and clinical skills teaching and Haptic Clinical Skills facilities.



The successful post holder for this post will be involved primarily with developing educational opportunities for Internal Medical Trainees through a wide range of teaching modalities including simulation based training, clinical skills, lectures, teaching clinics, a bedside teaching. The post holder will have the opportunity to work across sites with other education fellows supporting activity at our other centres. From August 2018 all fellows joining our team will be invited to join our Education Forum where fellows have access to a structured development programme.
