• Teaches highly complex mine safety subjects such as mine ventilation, mine rescue, mine fire and explosion prevention, ground control, roof control, and health at advanced levels to Federal and State compliance personnel, safety officers and other supervisors and managers in Federal and State agencies, industry, and labor organizations.
• Develops and updates instructional work guides, lesson plans, laboratory exercise, criterion referenced instruction, learner centered instruction, tests, diagnostic evaluations, and other materials in a wide range of highly technical and complex subjects related to mine safety, the laws and regulations pertaining thereto, and other aspects such as safety concepts, hazard recognition and control, inspection procedures and regulations.
• Conducts specialized, highly technical studies requiring in-depth engineering analysis of special safety and health problems in coal and metal/nonmetal mining and processing, plus other types of mining. Takes studies and analysis to prepare reports of findings and recommends action to be taken.
• Serves as subject matter expert in addressing technical publications or training materials. Identifies needs of broad and substantial importance to MSHA or the mining industry.
• Provides expert level technical expertise to MSHA and the industry in the areas of miners' health, coal and metal/nonmetal health sampling, ventilation, the prevention of health hazards, and mining systems.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Develops, administers, evaluates, and reviews training programs for ASMS personnel as well as for associated CBOCs.
• Develops original course content and modifies it when improvements are realized or changes are required.
• Determines the need for additional subject matter information during the development of course/training content and related materials.
• Develops and modifies courses, sets training priorities, and researches and recommends new or alternative training sources for the ASMS workforce. Course materials include lesson plans, tests, presentations, visual aids, standard operating procedures (SOP), training manuals, and practical exercises.
• Develops, reviews, analyzes, implements, adapts, conducts and evaluates training materials, training courses, and overall training programs related to subject matter areas/topics such as: eligibility/enrollment criteria and procedures, access to care, Beneficiary Travel, scheduling, ward administration, admissions, special programs, Care in the Community (CITC), insurance collection, and Decedent Affairs as well as training on new directives and processes that interrelate within the ASMS sections.
• Develops the ASMS's training plan on an annual basis, as well as a monthly training calendar documenting the days, times and locations of training programs for the service.
• Develops, updates and presents training policies, guidelines, instructional materials, methods, etc. for ASMS training programs and provides instructions regarding on-line training methods.
• Develops training programs which ensure that quality provisions are planned, developed, and. implemented sufficient to identify, prevent, and correct unsatisfactory conditions and elements which influence regulatory correctness and the responsiveness of ASMS.
• Training materials, courses, and programs are presented/delivered utilizing current technologies, software, and equipment. These include web conferencing, e-learning (Talent Management Software, TMS) and other computer based learning.
• Performs scheduling audits for ASMS and facility staff and CBOCs that have scheduling keys/menus.
• Scheduling audits must consist of a standardized biannual audit of timeliness and appropriateness of scheduling actions and accuracy of Clinically.
• Indicated Date/Preferred Date (CID/PD) for all active schedulers regardless of position or title according to VHA Directive 1230, dated July 15, 2016. The biannual scheduling audit is a minimal requirement.
• Scheduling supervisors, based on identified deficiencies in competency or performance, determine the number and scope of subsequent audits.
• Biannual audits must include a review of at least ten scheduled appointments per scheduler.
• Facilitates the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all positions and processes within ASMS.
• Serves on facility and VISN-wide committees and represents ASMS operations, providing information as assistance as needed.
• Works with the ASMS's leadership in developing data capture and electronic reporting procedures in order to track the progress of quality program management initiatives.

• Consults with various members of industry or academic groups in advancing the state-of-the-art with respect to mine safety.
• Conducts technical and policy reviews of draft publications in areas of ventilation, mine rescue and the prevention of fires and explosions and miners' health, resolving technical interpretations, and clearing the final manuscript before publication.
• Provides expert level technical expertise to MSHA and the industry in the areas of ventilation, mine rescue, the prevention of fires and explosives, miners' health, and mining systems.
• Performs research to stay abreast of new or proposed changes in regulations and policies. Often determines need for publications and prepares justifications for their development.

• Serve as a senior Operations Research Analyst and serves as an advisor to the branch chief and division director regarding the performance, operation, and cost of the purchased care system.

• Develop and implements, ongoing training programs related to a variety of health administration software systems involving scheduling, benefits, admissions, and other related systems.
• Responsible for providing HAS related trainings for medical center front-line schedulers (MSA/AMSAs), Lead MSAs, Supervisory MSAs, and Ambulatory Care and Processing Section Chiefs, and other employees in support of clinical administrative functions across the medical center.
• Develops and submits action plans for management and medical center leadership for review.
• Assist management in program improvement projects within the Operations Program, Data Analytics and Training Team.
• Serves as an integral part of the Hampton VAMC's 'New Employee Orientation' program and collaborates with members of Health Administration Service, Ambulatory Care and Processing, and GPM Access Teams as needed.
• Specialize in VA computer packages which directly impacts clinical operations and efficiency across the medical center (i.e., VISTA Scheduling package, PCMM, Clinic set-up and the PRN Reminder System), Veteran Enrollment System (VES), and the soon to be implemented Electronica Health Records Management (EHRM) system - Cerner software application.
• Conducts and evaluates personnel training needs assessments and surveys and applies analytical and evaluative, methods, and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of the HAS staff in various job functions.

Position: Trainer

Reports to: General Manager (GM)/ Assistant Manager (AM)

Department: Operations

Purpose: To instill and maintain integrity and compliance of the PE@PF program at your respective club while ensuring the program consistently provides value to the member, PF brand and company’s core purpose. The main responsibility of the position is providing coaching, and training to new and existing club members through a wide variety of small group training experiences so they can move closer to their respective goals and be happy engaged members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Fully proficient in performing the role as detailed in the PF Trainer Playbook.

• Available to train Planet Fitness members during all PE@PF small group training sessions.

• Design individual exercise programs for each member based on their exercise experience, medical background, and personal goals. These programs must be designed with safety, effectiveness, and be appropriate for the specific member.

• Submit all training programs and workout logs to the GM for review on a weekly basis or as requested.

• Inspect all equipment for possible malfunction or damage and report findings to the GM or AM.

• Perform general equipment maintenance like guide rod lubrication, cable inspection, belt inspection, seat pad inspections, and equipment testing.

• Log training session attendance data into DataTrack system.

• Track and record PE@PF success metrics requested by GM/AM.

• Monitor the primary workout areas to make sure that members are using the equipment correctly and or following club rules. 

• Deliver daily the trainer key contributions:

  • Engage with members to drive loyalty to the PE@PF program. The trainer should be motivational, inspirational, and provide continuous encouragement.

  • Support members in achieving their individual goals.

  • Promote the program to members. When a session is not booked trainers are expected to walk the floor and greet members they have not met. Look for members that need help and recommend they sign up for FREE training sessions.

  • Foster staff member understanding of the PE@PF program. Teach staff about the different sessions offered and encourage them to communicate this information to members. Generate excitement for the program with the employees and members to increase PE@PF usage.

• Monitor and maintain club cleanliness and atmosphere.

• Communicate with members professionally while creating a high level of customer service.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

• Personal Training Certification that must remain active.

  • Must start Trainer recertification process 1 month prior to their expiration.

• CPR/AED certification.

• HS diploma or equivalent required.

• Proven ability to lead, encourage, develop and supervise the work of others.

The schedule shift hours follow the corporate approved PE@PF schedule with shifts typically between 6am to 1pm on Monday and Friday and between Noon to 7:30pm Tuesday through Thursday.
