About the Role Surrey's Local Resilience Forum (SLRF) is seeking a driven individual with proven skills and experience to undertake the role of Training and Exercising Officer on behalf of the Partnership. An opportunity has arisen to join the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) Learning and Development department as one of our 18 'General Instructors' on a permanent or a 12-month fixed term basis.

We are seeking instructors to deliver and support the variety of operational training we offer in-house, such as initial Recruits, Specialist Rescue, Live Fire, Incident Command, Projects, IECR, Apprenticeship and Development.

All General Instructors will have the opportunity to maintain their operational competencies by carrying out a duty shift at one of our stations once a month. For those that are undertaking their own rank development or wish to, support to achieve this whilst in a training environment can also be provided.

Job Introduction
As a General Instructor at SFRS you will become, if not already, a multi-skilled Instructor delivering on a range of specialisms. After a period of instructor development, you will lead on one area of training, where You will be responsible for the coordination, research, development, and delivery of all learning materials for your subject area, including providing assurance on the quality of delivery.

The role is paid at Watch Command B (WCB) rate if you are a competent WC or have successfully achieved an Instructor, Assessing and Teaching Qualification. Prior to this, the role will be paid at Watch Commander Development rate.

As this role is of an operational nature, working in line with nationally agreed conditions, there is a need for General Instructors to be flexible where required for some evening and weekend working. However, the majority of our delivery is Monday-Friday between 9 and 5pm.

Due to the flexible nature of the role, this role attracts an additional 10% enhancement.
You will be expected to maintain competence in operational duties associated with your substantive role by riding across any of SFRS's Fire Stations at least once per month.

Instructing a practical delivery session
Presenting a 10-minute PowerPoint lecture that you have designed on any piece of Fire Service equipment, aimed at recruit Firefighters.

As Surrey County Council are planning to expand the number of residential childcare homes across the county, we're looking for someone who is flexible and responsive to change in an evolving sector to join us in making this apprenticeship delivery a success!

About the Role
As our Residential Childcare Apprenticeship IQA Trainer and Assessor you will be responsible for delivering apprenticeship programmes as a group and 1-1 teaching sessions primarily in the apprentices' workplace, at one of our training centres or remotely using MS Teams. This will include all aspects of apprenticeship training, assessment and delivery in line with Quality Assurance procedures so that we meet our regulatory requirements. We use OneFile e-portfolio for planning, carrying out assessments and giving written feedback.

Through your sessions you will support, advise and motivate learners to excel and overcome any barriers to learning they may face. You will need to embed hot topics such as safeguarding, British values and EDI into your delivery.

You will be responsible for managing a caseload of around 18 learners based on working 3 days per week. You will be responsible for managing communication with your learners and their line managers, ensuring that all learners are making excellent progress and putting action plans in place to support learners when required.

You will then have approximately 2 days per week to carry out your Internal Quality Assurance duties, these duties include portfolio sampling, chairing sector based standardisation meetings, leading on EQA visits with the Awarding Organisations, carrying out observations of teaching, learning & assessment and supporting trainer/assessors.
Apprentices who need to work towards Functional Skills English and/or Maths will attend separate training sessions with our Functional Skills Specialist, however you will ensure that English and maths are fully embedded into the apprenticeship delivery.

About the Role As our Residential Childcare Apprenticeship IQA Trainer and Assessor you will be responsible for delivering apprenticeship programmes as a group and 1-1 teaching sessions primarily in the apprentices' workplace, at one of our training centres or remotely using MS Teams.
