JOB SUMMARY The post-holder is involved in the education, training and development of non-registered staff, and will showcase a commitment to learning, professional development and maintaining up-to-date mandatory training. With a portfolio of Maths and English GCSE Grade A-C/4-9 or equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2) the Care Certificate and NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or Level 3 Apprenticeship or equivalent, the individual will also evidence completion of role-development packages such as venepuncture, cannulation and ECG, and possess the efficacy to complete additional education and training related to the role. The post-holder will have competent ICT skills in Trust ICT programmes including Microsoft packages. The individual will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team, and have effective written and verbal communication skills, including accurate documentation of meetings with individual learners. These skills will include inter-personal skills, professional email etiquette, and conflict resolution. Effective time-management, the ability to work on own initiative and an ability to respond quickly and effectively is vital within this role.Working as an effective member of the clinical team across Maternity to ensure all Maternity Care Assistants (MCA), Maternity Support Workers (MSW), and Transitional Care Support workers (TCSW) are inducted, supported, and proactively encouraged to acquire additional clinical skills, and providing effective and safe support to the registered midwives. There will be evidence of working to a high standard and delivering excellent patient care, alongside the experience of supporting colleagues and new starters, teaching or training.Contributing effectively to ensure the Trust and Division meet targets relating to learning and development, including the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and adapt them to learning need, with support. Data collection and the ability to interpret information will be part of this role, alongside the ability to apply innovation, problem solve and communicate effectively to a cohort of learners with diverse needs.Assisting the registered midwives in providing assurance to the Senior Divisional Team that the non-registered staff team are competent, safe, compassionate, well-trained, caring and always put the patient first.Is a positive and well-presented role model to all the staff.The post holder will be working across both sites and the community service, with flexibility of shift pattern to meet the needs of the service. Physical ability to set up training rooms with equipment including computer and projection, and transport of equipment and resources across the Trust as required.

Duties will be allocated to the post-holder according to qualifications and experience. They are likely to involve some or all of the following: Identification and approach of potential participants into NIHR Portfolio Adopted studies across the Trust. To complete research activities in line with Good Clinical Practice guidelines. You should be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, good organisational skills, flexibility, excellent attention to detail, the ability to work autonomously and some knowledge of medical terminology. Experience of working in a research setting or in Primary Care is desirable. The main focus of the role will be in supporting the delivery and development of the NIHR research portfolio. The role is designed to increase research participation from NHS primary care and non-NHS settings, including community services, social care, voluntary sector, and care homes. Main Duties and Responsibilities Will act as the first point of contact for all telephone, email and personal enquiries from researchers and other stakeholders relating to community and primary care research engagement and study set-up and will ensure that all enquiries are dealt with effectively and in a timely manner, escalating any complex enquiries to the Research Coordination Manager or appropriate senior member of staff. Will use excellent communication skills on a daily basis to speak to a wide range of individuals and organisations including departmental colleagues, Higher Educational Institutions, community organisations, Practice Managers, GPs and other practice clinicians, patients and Local Clinical Research Network (LCRN) contacts. Will monitor and act upon requests from care home managers, hospice managers, General Practices and other non-NHS community services to participate in research studies, making sure that all emails are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner. Will provide administrative support to researchers and other members of the team. Will have sound knowledge of the NIHR and Clinical Research Networks and will remain familiar with the evolving landscape of research management within the NHS. Will be required to adhere to a strict code of confidentiality, ICH Good Clinical Practice and Trust R&D and information governance policies. Will have excellent organisational and time management skills enabling the post holder to manage competing priorities within required timescales. Will have the ability to work independently, on own initiative and at times with minimal supervision. They must be able to exercise judgement where necessary when responding to queries, delegating or escalating as appropriate. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Training and Education Practical mammography training of Radiographers and Assistant/Associate Practitioners from the UK and overseas. Appraisal of trainee mammographers clinical work, both on site and at the students base. Balance clinical needs of the department with practical mammography training. Contribute to the preparation and delivery of various courses in mammography. Contribute to the theoretical assessment of students attending courses at NIBEC. Teach and mentor Assistant/Associate practitioners and junior radiography staff and advise the Radiology Service Manager on training requirements to ensure that mammography standards are maintained. Actively promote the culture of life-long learning within the department. Supervision of visitors to the department. Mammography Provision Mammography examinations on symptomatic and asymptomatic patients at both static and mobile sites. Specialised mammography techniques including stereotactic localisation at screening and symptomatic assessment clinics, Digital Breast Tomosynthesis, and Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography. To consistently carry out mammography examinations to a standard which meets the NHSBSP Quality Assurance Guidelines for Mammography. Analyse the quality of own and others mammograms on a day-to-day basis and make appropriate adjustments or actions. Plan and prioritise own workload in order to maintain service and clinic workflow alongside practical mammography training. Use of direct digital mammography equipment. To adhere to Breast Service Clinical Protocols and Guidelines and Local Rules of Practice with particular regard to IR(ME)R. To be a fully participating member of the multi-disciplinary breast team including attending multi-disciplinary team meetings when required. To participate in peer review activities to measure, monitor and maintain high mammography standards. Other duties as required to maintain the mammography service to a high standard of delivery.
