QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
- A Bachelor’s Degree with proven work experience in education, curriculum and instruction.
- Proven work experience in Adult Education;
- A minimum of three (3) years of proven work experience in a curriculum development (or similar) role;
- Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design and development of curriculum;
- Demonstrated knowledge in curriculum design, adult learning principles, and TABE and CASAS testing;
- Considerable knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in the Adult Education field;
- Demonstrated success in improving student achievement as measured by Literacy Completion Points and/or Educational Functioning level gains in ABE, GED and/or ESL courses;
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills;
- Possess a broad knowledge regarding curriculum content and Bilingual/ESL teaching strategies with specific content knowledge at multiple levels of instruction;
- Skilled in the use of all Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications to include specific proven knowledge of Word, ACCESS/database management, and EXCEL spreadsheets;
- Strong human relations, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in technology literacy and experience with technology integrated instruction;
- Ability to use evaluations and data to make recommendations for how to improve and edit curricula on an annual basis;
- Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness;
- Ability to mentor and train new teachers;
- Ability to hold high standards while also offering support and maintaining positive relationships;
- Valid driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Identify, collaborate with, and lead a team of teachers who will assist in curriculum development;
- Actively pursue opportunities to continue to learn best practices in curriculum writing through research, professional development, and other learning opportunities;
- Involve instructional faculty team in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs;
- Ensure curriculum is aligned to Florida DOE Adult Education Curriculum Frameworks;
- Provide in-class support and coaching to teachers.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide training, consultation, and professional development support to adult education teachers and serve as a mentor;
- Integrate career and technical education curriculum into adult education curriculum to create integrated education and training programs;
- Ensure that Florida DOE Adult Education content standards are used as a basis for all ABE/GED & ESL curriculum design and to assist programs and teachers with selecting or designing appropriate instructional materials, instructional techniques, and ongoing assessment strategies;
- Obtain, analyze, and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness);
- Research and recommend instructional materials for ABE/GED and ESL programs;
- Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and information to others;
- Respond in a timely manner to requests for information from public, partners, or other offices;
- Assist teachers in incorporating new technology into their lessons;
- Accurately respond to all inquiries in a timely manner;
- Collaborate with a team in the writing and management of grants;
- Analyze data to monitor performance in meeting externally imposed standards;
- Assemble, compile, and submit requests and reports as requested;
- Assist adult education teachers in curriculum development aligned to grant requirements;
- Stay informed of trends in instructional methods and educational technology;
- Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the students and the college with occasional travel to four-county campuses;
- Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President and Adult Education Department Chair.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.

Pay range starts at: $41,752.64. All salary calculations start at the minimum salary and will be based on candidate's education and experience. Open until filled.
