The Department of STEM & Construction wish to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Chemistry Lecturer to work with learners across SCQF levels 5 to 8. You will have relevant academic experience, an enthusiasm for STEM, and ideally have some teaching experience in the Chemical Science area.

You will have the knowledge and ability to develop and engage learners in a range of relevant topics across the NQ, NC and HN Chemical Science curriculum. You will hold a relevant Chemistry Degree, Physics and Chemical Engineering experience is desirable but not essential for the role. You will be required to deliver both Chemistry practical's and chemical theory based lessons in our state of the art facilities. While you may have not taught in a college environment you may have delivered relevant training in the workplace.

You will work with the subject team to produce high quality learning, teaching and assessment materials and deliver excellent teaching relative to Chemical Science subject areas. You will work with others to develop new approaches to teaching, making use of learning technologies. Ensuring that the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date, you will contribute to the development of elements of provision and enhance students’ learning through providing support. You will naturally have a strong learner focus. You will also possess good knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety requirements and a sound understanding of quality standards.

An exciting opportunity has become available in the Learning and Quality Team, with the introduction of the new Learning, Teaching and Quality Manager role.

This is a key College role, building on the success of the Learning and Digital Skills academy initiative, to provide operational leadership and management of Learning and Teaching enhancement, whilst driving the Quality focused agenda across the college. In this you will support the enhancement of Learning and Teaching across all curriculum areas whilst leading on the continued quality enhancement and assurance activity of both curriculum and corporate service areas where appropriate.

Working closely with the Head of Learning and Quality, you will have line manager responsibility for a team that supports and develops a range of teaching, learning and quality activities across the college.

Much of your work will be carried out in conjunction with wider college teams developing a range of communities of practice around learning and teaching enhancement whilst also leading on the quality assurance and enhancement across college.

With a degree (or professional equivalent) together with a teaching qualification, you will be a skilled teaching practitioner with strong, in depth knowledge of designing and implementing high quality learning and teaching activities whilst having a thorough understanding of quality assurance in relation to assessment.

The Department of STEM & Construction are looking to recruit a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering/Installation work with learners across SCQF levels 5 to 8.

This role will be workshop and classroom based and will deliver on NC/HN and SVQ programmes. The role will include working with a range of students from different industries, including Electrical Installation and Power Engineering modern apprentices as well as full time students. While the role will be predominantly based in Falkirk there may be a need to travel to other sites to deliver classes, therefore a driving licence is essential.

You will be a qualified Electrical Engineer or Electrical Installation operative and may have SJIB grading. You will have industrial experience in the required subject area. While you may not have any instruction experience in a formal college setting, you may have worked with apprentices or trainees and contributed to their development and job knowledge. An assessor/verification qualification is desirable but not essential, though there will be opportunity for you to work towards these qualifications. Together with excellent presentation and communication skills you will have knowledge and understanding of vocational qualifications.

You will produce high quality learning, teaching and assessment materials, and deliver excellent teaching relative to the specialist areas of Electrical Machines, Power systems and installation within the electrical engineering and installation curriculum.

Ideally, candidates will hold a Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant HNC and industrial experience. Teaching experience is desirable but not mandatory; the successful candidate should be prepared to work towards TQFE, Assessor and Verifier qualifications.

You will work as part of a team to ensure that the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date. You will also have appropriate ICT skills and possess good knowledge and understanding of health and safety.

You will be required to have relevant industrial experience and ideally teaching experience in Chemical Process/Process areas. You will have the knowledge and ability to develop and engage a range of learners in a range of relevant topics. You will be required to deliver both practical and theory based lessons in our facilities. You will also hold a relevant SVQ level 3 and HNC Chemical Process or Chemical Engineering or equivalent. You will have at least 5 years' relevant industry experience post-apprenticeship. While you may have not taught in a formal college environment you will ideally have delivered relevant training in the worklplace.

Due to an increase in demand for Fabricators and Welders, the Department of STEM and Construction is seeking experienced candidates as Lecturers to teach Fabrication/Welding Engineering for learners across SCQF levels 5 to 7 in a practical and experiential setting.

The role is a mixture of workshop and classroom delivery. Candidates with significant industrial experience in relevant engineering field/area will be considered. This will include candidates without previous teaching experience.

You will produce high quality learning, teaching and assessment materials, and deliver excellent teaching relative to the specialist areas of Fabrication/welding.

Ideally, candidates will hold a relevant Higher National qualification or professional equivalent.

Teaching experience is desirable but not essential; the successful candidate should be prepared to work toward a professional teaching qualification, and Assessor and Verifier qualifications.

Initially, the main role would be delivery of practical, experiential learning within the engineering workshops. However, there will be elements of in-class delivery as part of this role.

Ideally, you will work as part of a team to ensure that the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date. You will also have appropriate ICT skills and possess good knowledge and understanding of health and safety.

The Department of STEM and Construction operates across all three Forth Valley campuses and there may be a requirement to work at our other campuses if required.

Learning Skills and Resource Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of professionals who assist and support learners and staff with information enquiries, study skills support and access to learning resources including book and non-book resources, ICT, and flexible learning materials. A key role will be to promote the development of independent learning and information skills amongst college students.  

The college has 3 large and busy Learning Resource Centres on its campuses at Falkirk, Stirling and Alloa, each capable of accommodating approximately 60-120 users at any one time. Staff may be required to work across all campuses.

You will ideally have experience of working in an LRC as well as experience working one-to-one, helping those who need additional support to develop the skills they need to achieve. You will be customer focused with good written and verbal communication skills, and will be able to work flexibly without supervision and with an organised approach to your work. You should have familiarity with ICT, particularly Microsoft Office; knowledge of assistive technologies would be helpful.

You should have an HNC or equivalent in a subject related area such as administration; library; information; community support delivery; communications; resource management or other related subjects. The ICDL qualification is also desirable.
