About us
Falkland House School Perth is focused on supporting 5 young people aged between 16 to 19 years of age towards greater independent living, support with college placements and community engagement. In the coming months, the main school accommodation will open, and Falkland House School Perth will become home to the senior-phase young people (15-18) who will be working towards gaining school qualifications, and becoming more independent in their lives.
We are part of the Options Autism and can promise you plenty of challenges, and a rich variety of opportunities to develop your career.
Options Autism is a national provider of specialist education, care and therapeutic services for individuals with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties. We provide a person-centred approach to education and support, looking at the full needs of the individual and adapting our approach accordingly.
The opportunity
This is a role with an exciting career and development plan, structured to ensure our staff are trained, supported, and continually developed. We want to give you the best possible toolkit, to deliver outstanding support to our pupils and help them achieve incredible outcomes.
There will be a thorough induction, fully expensed training courses and the opportunity to expand your knowledge. You will be supported to gain the necessary qualification to meet SSSC registration requirements, and you will gain a firm understanding of autism spectrum disorder and associated support needs, within a positive, supportive working environment. It is a great opportunity to launch your career and see it flourish.
The Role
You will be based at Falkland House School Perth and you will work across the main school accommodation and also the throughcare accommodation. Across both, you will strive to create a safe, quiet environment for the individuals through the night, responding to any needs in a calm, therapeutic manner. You will work as part of an incredible team sharing knowledge and learning to ensure an outstanding, holistic approach. Overarching this, you will support the young people with their independent living, working with them to develop their skills and establish healthy routines. You will creatively learn about the occupants, their interests, dislikes and triggers, and use this connection to establish rewarding relationships.
Who are we are looking for?
You don’t need any experience to join our team. If you come from hospitality, the army, outdoor activity centres or an office-based job but are eager to help young people to live happy, fulfilling lives, this is the role for you.
We know that the individuals that we support can be challenging, and we are looking for Night Care Workers who are up for that challenge. You will be patient and resilient, and able to recognise the reward in transforming a young person’s life. You will support the occupants at the end and beginning of their days, using a calm, reliable approach that builds trust and confidence.
You will be friendly, approachable and kind in your dealings with the young people. You will be committed to giving them the space and opportunity to thrive, playing your part in creating a supportive environment in which their independence can grow.
You will play a key role in the smooth-running of the accommodation during the night, and you will have a good grasp of safety and hygiene, and a conscientious dedication to the young people’s wellbeing. This is a role in which attention to detail really counts – and one that touches the real lives of people every day.
