The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) Primary Care Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is responsible for promoting quality nursing care for Veterans in a primary care setting. The selected APRN will function independently, as guided by their scope of practice commensurate with training, demonstrated expertise, and licensure. The APRN will work collaboratively with other health care providers to manage patient care needs and serves as a liaison throughout the continuum of care between clinical and administrative services and other health care services within the VA and community agencies. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and management of Veterans with complex medical and surgical needs.
• Orders and evaluates laboratory, radiological and other diagnostic tests pertinent to patient complaints and derives diagnosis from the assessment and diagnostic data.
• Prescribing medications.
• Arranges consultation from within and outside this VA system including scheduling appropriate laboratory, diagnostic and radiographic procedures prior to clinic visits.
• Uses professional standards of care and practice to evaluate program and/or service activities.

• Provides leadership in identifying and addressing ethical issues that impact client and staff, including initiating and participation in ethics consultations.
• Manages program resources (financial, human, material, or information) to facilitate safe, effective and efficient care.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• The selectee performs a variety of duties within the full spectrum of maintenance activities, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, janitorial, grounds keeping, buildings, roads, trails and fence repair. Performs trail maintenance on walkways and trails (paved and unpaved) and performs construction and repair work on park's boundary fence.
• Performs grounds maintenance duties including mowing, fertilizing, and watering lawns, and trimming trees and hedges. Employee picks up trash, cleans restrooms and public use buildings, and performs other janitorial work as needed.
• Uses common tools to perform a variety of basic repairs and maintenance, plus operates small gas and electric power tools such as disc grinders, sanders, saws, post augers, riding and push-type mowers, weed trimmers, sweepers, vacuums, floor polishers and other janitorial equipment.
• Employee is required to operate motor vehicles and must possess a valid state driver's license. For routine maintenance and repair jobs, the incumbent works independently based on oral or written guidance from the supervisor.
• He/She may also assist higher-graded employees with more complex building maintenance, road repair projects and other special projects. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often under adverse weather conditions.
• Work requires lifting and moving heavy items, frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions and may involve some climbing. Employee also completes daily work reports.

• Performs simple and routine maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment, and related utilities.
• Assists higher graded maintenance workers or tradesmen in the performance of their work.
• Performs minor carpentry repairs using simple measures and hand tools on such tasks as replacing broken planks on picnic tables; broken windows using precut stock; minor adjustments or replaces hinges, latches, and catches.
• Performs minor painting using brush and roller according to specific instructions on projects where appearances are not critical such as staining picnic tables and trash barrels.
• Performs minor plumbing repairs such as tightening or replacing in-kind fittings and fixtures which do not require custom fitting or solder joints; replaces faucet washers; unplugs drains using a plunger; replaces liquid petroleum gas bottles.
• Receives, unloads and processes incoming shipments according to established procedures. Reports discrepancies and damage to others responsible for such items.
• Performs routine maintenance on campground sites and trails using hand tools to re-grade and reset barriers to restore areas to original appearances. Collects trash.
• Operates a light truck to pick up supplies and to transport materials to and from work sites while assisting on project work.
• Cleans and services chemical toilets, restrooms, and other campground or visitor facilities. Makes minor repairs as needed and refers problems to higher graded workers.
• Operates a forklift to load and unload supplies and light equipment not requiring special rigging.

The incumbent will provide proper care and maintenance of established landscapes that include, but is not limited to; park lawns, flowers, shrubs, and trees by mowing, weed-eating, trimming/pruning hedges and shrubs, edge lawns. etc.
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to; transplanting trees, determining quantities of plants, seeds, and other materials needed for proper preparation and growth; select/spray areas with approved herbicides, fungicides and insecticides to control plant diseases as well as maintain areas with appropriate fertilization methods to ensure healthy growth, have knowledge of plant and gardening procedures and standard methods of use, and technical knowledge of chemicals and amounts for proper use, and possess knowledge of the use of farm-type equipment with attachments as well as hand and power equipment used to maintain landscapes.

Operates heavy power equipment such as lawn mowers, chain saws, brush cutters, brush chippers, portable snow blowers, and all types of hand and light power tools (such as shovels, pulaskis, picks, digging bars, rakes, lawn edging equipment, electric drills, etc.), to maintain buildings, grounds, roads, trails, etc.

Loads and unloads supplies and materials from trucks, trailers, dollies, etc. Moves furniture, removes, and sets signs, paints picnic tables and signs, rakes and waters lawns, trims trees and shrubbery, picks up litter, cleans and repairs fire pits.

Digs ditches and trenches with pick and shovel where soil is hard and compact and must grade or slope; occasionally breaks up pavement, soil, or concrete; mixes and pours concrete, asphalt, and hot/cold mix; fills and levels holes in damaged roads. Moves heavily loaded wheelbarrows and hand trucks; uses heavy type power mowers including adjusting blades, cleaning, and oiling. Performs janitorial duties for buildings and grounds when required. Motor Vehicle Operation

Motor Vehicle Operation: Operates and performs minor operator maintenance on light duty motor vehicles such as pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of up to 4500 kilograms (10,000 pounds). Vehicles are driven on the basis of either specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules and standard routes to transport personnel, supplies, materials, or equipment and tools throughout the park under limited traffic conditions at low speeds.

The Medical Support Assistant (Advanced) serves in Health Administration at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System VA Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, North Little Rock or one of their attached Community Based Outpatient Clinic's (Russellville, Searcy, Conway, Hot Springs, Mountain Home, El Dorado, Mena or Pine Bluff.)

The primary duties of the Medical Support Assistant (Advanced) may include but are not limited to:

• Scheduling/coordinating appointments
• Collecting and updating demographic and insurance information
• Managing the Electronic Waiting List (EWL)

The Lead MSA is responsible for answering questions for lower graded staff relating to healthcare services in an inpatient or outpatient setting. The Lead MSA monitors and makes work assignments, provides input on performance, resolves daily workplace issues, and maintains efficient workflow.

The primary duties of the Lead Medical Support Assistant (LMSA) may include but are not limited to:
