We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and committed professional with excellent communication skills to help us improve relationships with underrepresented communities. Working with the Head of Communications and Engagement and the Patient Engagement Team you will be responsible for co-ordinating our approach to our accessibility, equality, diversity and inclusion priorities and improving the experience of care and services for patients and service users.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Alongside other Service Managers, you’ll be managing and supporting the Home Support Reablement team to provide a boroughwide, short-term service that supports people to regain lost skills, and learn new skills; adapting to the challenges that living independently can present. You will be office based, however you will need to travel across the borough depending on service need.

About You

With experience of working in a care, home support or reablement service, and excellent communication skills, you’ll support and manage a staff team of coordinators, resource planners and support workers. You’ll need well-developed networking skills to build relationships with other service managers, in order to improve service delivery. You’ll be computer literate and able to use a variety of applications across the service. You will hold a full driving licence, and access to a vehicle to use for work purposes. Being a Care Assistant means you need to be adaptable, kind-hearted and put others first. Your role may include:

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Successful candidates will have to deliver correct care advice and guidance to callers’ dependent upon the reason for the call. Full training will be given to the successful candidates and an excellent career structure is available for future career progression. A full range of shifts will need to be covered, including bank holidays, public holidays, weekends and may include working nights. If your shift falls on a bank holiday, it will form part of your working hours. This includes the Easter and the festive period. Due to the nature of the hours only applicants over the age of 18 can apply for this role.

We are currently looking for full-time call handlers. However hours considered will be 30+, Please note: full-time training for up to 10 weeks must be committed to.
