The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $21.47 – $32.21 per hour.

The City and County of Denver utilizes a hybrid model workplace that balances the responsibilities of public service with the benefits of a flexible work environment. The Accounting unit within the Child Support Services (CSS) Division is not your traditional accounting operation. The Child Support Services (CSS) Divisions is currently seeking highly skilled applicants for the position of Child Support Bookkeeper to work with our dynamic Accounting unit. Child Support Services (CSS) partners with federal, state, tribal, and local governments, and others to promote parental responsibility so that children receive support from both parents, even when they live in separate households. Nationally, the child support program is one of the largest income-support programs for families, contributing money to family budgets to help pay for the basics: shelter, food, childcare, transportation, and school clothes. Child support makes a big difference to children. We strive to provide family centered services and are incorporating innovative strategies that improve the reliability of child support payments.
CSS VISION
The vision of Child Support Services is to help build a world where children can count on their parents for the support and love that they need to be healthy and successful. Child Support Services will put children first by both parents assuming responsibility for the economic and social well-being, health and stability of their children. We recognize that children benefit from positive, ongoing relationships with both parents.
The Child Support Bookkeeper will perform the following duties:
Receives and reviews referrals from a variety of sources and determines the next appropriate steps needed to initiate child support obligations
Responds to a variety of questions, explains policies, procedures, and processes, and provides child support related information to various internal stakeholders
Enters and maintains client records in various databases ranging from updating ledger balance information to ongoing child support obligations
Reviews court orders and minutes
Responsible for completing arrears calculations, allocating child support payments
Updates and maintains financial records and reports
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
Experience with frequent manual calculations and meticulous attention to numerical detail, a strong mathematical aptitude is ideal
Requires strong proficiency with calculations or spreadsheet-based computations
Responsibilities include reconciling complex accounts and ensuring the accuracy of financial data
Critical thinking in a creative manner to resolve issues
Proven ability to show a professional level of having a keen attention to detail
Experience processing large amounts of data with a quick turnaround time utilizing Excel and ACSES is a plus
