The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery provides neurological and neurosurgical services on a regional, national and international basis. The neuroscience critical care unit is a 28 bedded unit with approximately 850-950 admissions a year of which 35-40% are planned elective admissions. We provide care for neurology, acute stroke and neurosurgical patients, in one of the largest dedicated neurocritical care facilities in the UK. There is excellent senior support 24/7 for the unit, with two daily ward rounds by ICU consultants and a dedicated anaesthetic registrar to help with airway management, line placement and training, and other out-of-hours intensive care issues. There are opportunities to be involved with teaching, MDT simulation sessions, clinical governance and quality improvement projects to strengthen portfolios for applications for training posts, as well as developing technical skills and competencies in Intensive Care Medicine. The successful applicant will join a team of 17 doctors, including HEE trainees from various specialities (ICM, IMT and neurosurgery), Clinical Fellows (ST1+), CESR ICM fellows and senior neuroanaesthesia fellows (ST5+) as part of an EWTD compliant full shift rota. This post is a remunerated as a locally employed doctor in line with the 2016 terms and conditions of service.

There are weekly MDT neurocritical care meetings to discuss patients with neurologists, neurosurgeons, clinical psychologists and AHP. The monthly M&M meetings include interesting learning cases where decision making, and ethical dilemmas are discussed. There is a formal weekly educational programme, consisting of consultant/senior delivered teaching, journal club, as well as informal bedside teaching, tea trolley teaching, in situ MDT simulation and a CVC simulation course for the junior clinical fellows. Some of the consultants are POCUS accredited and can mentor FUSIC heart, lung and transcranial ultrasound. You will be allocated an Educational Supervisor to enable regular appraisal and support in the development of a learning plan and portfolio.

The successful candidate will
• Share the responsibility for the assessment, resuscitation and treatment of all patients referred to the Critical Care Unit, working as part of a team with the on-call ICU consultant.
• Work alongside our trainees on a full shift rota. This is a full shift rota and the successful candidate will be required to be resident in the hospital during the working hours allocated to them on the rota
• Share the responsibility for direct clinical supervision and teaching of the trainee staff, nurses and medical students.
• Assist in the provision and development of a safe, effective and efficient critical care service and support the Trust in its aim to provide the best possible care to patients.
• Carry out all duties at the highest possible standard taking responsibility for individual patients in their care.
• Comply with Trust Health and Safety policies and employ the basic principles of infection control practice to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Maintain good electronic clinical records and effective working relationships with medical, nursing and allied healthcare professionals on the critical care team.
• Take an active role in the departmental clinical governance activity
Applicants must be eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise. Post-graduate examination qualifications are desirable, but by no means essential. This post is not recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dean, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine or by the Royal College of Anaesthetists, although the unit itself is. This post is full-time and is covered by the Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic discharge care coordinator who will support and coordinate discharge in different specialties and locations to improve patient care and the patient experience within the Trust. The post will play a pivotal part in ensuring there is a smooth transfer of care from UCLH to the community services. This will also offer an exciting opportunity for someone with previous healthcare experience to build upon their knowledge and experience in this innovative role.

You will work under the supervision of the registered nursing team and/or clinical leads, but will work independently in facilitating a smooth and timely discharge process for patients. This will include supporting the patient discharges from wards to create new capacity but ensuring that the continuity of care is maintained. The role also involves undertaking both routine and specially identified tasks for which the post holder has been trained and assessed as competent.

Neuroscience Critical Care is a referral centre for neurology, stroke and neurosurgical patients from across the London area and Nationally. Your role will be to deliver care to patients who are transitioning to ward based care, to attend deteriorating patients on wards, and providing an emergency response service across the National Hospital and surrounding departments.

The Patient Emergency Response and Resuscitation Team (PERRT) at University College Hospital comprises critical care outreach and resuscitation practitioners who provide a 24/7 service to critically ill and deteriorating patients, alongside delivery of robust training programmes, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across the Trust.

The PERRT role is suitable for motivated individuals with strong leadership skills and extensive critical care [outreach] experience. It offers a fantastic opportunity to become expert in leading the management of deteriorating patients across the organisation, incorporating all 4 pillars of advanced practice.

This nurse-led team is well established and provides a career development pathway through bands 6 to 8.

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills to lead and deliver a high-quality service to the Integrated Care Operations (ICO) service at University College London Hospital (UCLH).

The ICO oversees a range of services focused around safe and efficient transfers of care. These include:

UCLH@Home, which provides a home nursing service to enable safe transfer home for patients under the management of a UCLH Consultant.

The Integrated Discharge Service (IDS), which in close collaboration with North Central London (NCL) Integrated Care Services, provides an Admission Avoidance service to the Emergency Department through pathways such as Camden and Islington Virtual Wards and other more bespoke services including the Camden Adult Pathway partnership (CAPP), a Homeless Intermediate Care service and a Rough Sleeper Nurse working with the Camden Street teams.

The post holder will work as part of the Medicine and Emergency Services pharmacy team to deliver pharmacy services and safe transfer of care between the ICO and other NCL Integrated Discharge Services.



Duties will include co-ordination of and participation in the day-to-day clinical pharmacy service to the ICO services team and attendance at relevant huddles and handover meetings. You will also work with the ICO services team on projects to develop, implement, maintain and improve new services.

You will use your independent prescribing skills to optimise medication regimens in preparation for discharge and act as a point of contact for staff and patients with queries relating to their medicines.

As part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) you will contribute to audits, service development and quality improvement projects to existing systems and processes.

Additional management and leadership responsibilities for the ICO and ESD will include governance, medicines expenditure analysis and reporting, audits, and service evaluation, and MDT education and training.

Within the pharmacy department, you will contribute to local and national pharmacy specific initiatives, support the delivery of educational and developmental programmes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills to lead a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to Emergency Department (ED) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) at UCLH.

The ED at UCLH houses adult and paediatric services, a general practitioner (GP) led Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and an Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (AECU), whilst SDEC services support patient flow within Emergency services, and various admissions avoidance care pathways for adult patients and children and young people’s (CYP).

The post holder will work as part of the Medicine and Emergency Services pharmacy team delivering comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to our Emergency Services and Medical Specialties Divisions.

This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly. You will lead the day-to-day clinical pharmacy service to the UCLH SDEC, attending clinical rounds and liaising closely with multidisciplinary team (MDT). You will also attend relevant planning huddles and handover meetings.

You will use your independent prescribing skills to optimise medication regimens and prepare plans for discharge. You will support the MDT as a point of contact for staff and patients requiring information about their medicines in all care settings.

Through service evaluations and quality improvement projects, you will work to develop and enhance our existing systems and processes, particularly where safety, efficiency, and productivity can be improved through our Electronic Health Records System, Epic.

You will develop, implement and maintain clinical pathways that cross care boundaries, including those that involve complex and high cost drugs, liaising with colleagues in other organisations across North Central London (NCL), and in primary care. You will also support patients on admission avoidance or early discharge pathways that utilise virtual wards.

The successful candidate will manage a team of 11 staff members who provide essential administrative support across three floors, including Chemotherapy Daycare, Ambulatory Care, Outpatient Services, Apheresis, and Supportive Care. Our departments serve approximately 250 patients daily.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and lead a team of 11 administrative staff.

• Liaise with nurse managers, doctors, and senior management across two divisions to meet the service needs of the departments.
• Ensure all activities are accurately recorded in a timely manner and that accurate coding data is provided.
