Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position (2-3 sentences)
Under the direction and supervision of a radiologist/physician, and lead technologist, the breast imaging specialist shall be responsible for performing screening and diagnostic breast imaging studies, general diagnostic radiology exams and dexa scans. Manager of the center provides operational oversight related to policy/procedure, staffing patterns and quality assurance in conjunction with the Breast Program Leadership and the JACBCC Operational Committee. Will work effectively in a team setting, as well as independently. Is customer friendly, works well with physicians, and other staff, and ancillary departments. Observes all radiation safety guidelines and performs other duties which assist in the provision of quality patient care according to the mission and values of the ministry. Cares for adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Must be willing to assist with, MQSA, ACR and NAPBC
Essential Job Functions

- Performs screening/diagnostic breast imaging studies, general radiography exams, and dexa- scans.under the supervision of a radiologist/physician.
- Maintains competency in mammography
- Educates patients and families in regard to tests and procedures
- Maintains required CEU's for certification/licensure
- Reviews all exams for quality and completeness.
- Ensures radiation safety to the patient, public, and self.
- Performs QC. Understands and interprets QC results.
- Supports and participates in quality improvement of services. Utilizes department quality indicators, and department outpatient survey to improve patient care. Performs other duties as necessary to assure quality care of patients.
- Reviews all exams for quality and completeness.
- Ensures radiation safety to the patient, public, and self.
- Contributes and participates in FDA/MQSA inspection. Aids in ACR and NAPBC accreditation process
- Demonstrates proficiency and skill using health center/department computerized information systems.
- Responsible for gathering and delivering all patient records to physicians to interpret exams performed.
- Demonstrates proper documentation of all patient care

Employment Qualifications
Education Qualifications - List the minimum education, training, and experience required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Required Minimum Education:
- ARRT registered, with previous experience preferred. Must be registered in both mammography R. T. (M) and radiography R.T. (R). Ohio Department of Health License for Radiologic Technologist
- Basic CPR annually
- Breast ultrasonography certification preferred, required within 2 years of hire date for full time employees, prorated for part time employees.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Years and Type of Experience
2 years of general radiography preferred/2 years mammography preferred. Breast ultrasonography experience preferred, Previous experience in performing DEXA exams and image guided breast biopsy procedures desirable.

Has detailed knowledge of breast imaging specialty. Gathers, organizes, verifies, and analyzes data in the completion of multi-step procedures. Produces final output within established standards. Operates technical, computerized equipment.
