Our client is accelerating the build out of renewable energy infrastructure to reach net zero. They are starting with battery storage, storing up energy for when it’s needed most to create a more reliable, flexible and greener grid.

Due to growth, they are they are looking to add another Construction Project Manager to their project delivery team to manage the construction of their battery storage projects from the end of the development phase through to the start of commercial operations.

Main Responsibilities

Managing the pre-construction phase of the project (following project development)

- Primarily focused on managing an internal project team in the lead up to construction contract signatures
- Supporting the procurement team in the lead-up to contract signatures
- Prepare pre-construction information and other key HSE docs
- Develop and own the pre-construction risk register, schedule and budget


Managing the construction phase to meet agreed time, quality and budget targets

- Ensure our health & safety culture and policies are embedded in our projects
- Manage our construction contracts, including the BESS supplier, BoP/EPC contractor, DNO/TO and any other packages of work required for the project
- Ensure key project management documents are regularly reviewed and updated


Ensure the project seamlessly enters commercial operation

- Manage our engineering resource and contractors to develop and implement a commissioning and energisation plan
- Ensure our appointed Asset Manager is prepared for operational activities.


Requirements

- You have managed the construction delivery of energy projects previously (minimum 2)
- Ability to take pragmatic and proactive approach to health, safety and quality management
- Sound understanding of construction safety and CDM regulations
- You are familiar with managing contractors deliverables (time, budget, scope) using a FIDIC, NEC or similar types of contract
- Electrical engineering background (desirable)
- Specific experience on BESS projects (desirable)
- Experience of project-finance requirements (desirable)

Technical

• Keep abreast of industry developments across energy procurement, commodity market conditions, net-zero carbon, regulatory changes, sustainability/ESG so that you can demonstrate credibility to clients and act as their trusted advisor.
• Support/prepare fixed and flexible tender proposals and recommendations and deliver actionable presentations based on a thorough understanding of the clients’ needs.
• Support/responsible for the creation, implementation, and execution of risk management trading strategy on behalf of clients.
• Report market positions and news to clients.

Experience and Qualifications:

Essential

• Minimum 2 years of in-depth, extensive knowledge of the energy/utilities/sustainability services industry.
• Demonstrable experience of managing strategic customers with large flexible portfolios.
• IT literate with strong MS Office (particularly Excel), MS Outlook skills and used to CRM systems.
• Positive, professional, and focused work ethic and team player.
• Strong commercial awareness – able to identify and develop new opportunities. Active listening skills – able to show emotional intelligence.
• Timely, open & accurate communication

Construction Manager Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure general contractor complies with FAA Environmental, Safety, and Health policies
• Supervise construction of FAA projects on-site and provide quality assurance that completed work is in compliance with the plans and specifications
• Maintain accurate daily records of work accomplished, personnel onsite, weather conditions and other essential details
• Act as point of contact and coordinate directly with the general contractor
• Monitor progress against accepted construction schedule, review the general contractor’s progress reports, assess the progress and inform all stakeholders

• Mark up drawings to as-built conditions and submit these for review and updating

Construction Manager Basic Qualifications

• Experience with construction methods, plans and specifications, building materials, national consensus codes, and quality management
• Ability to tactfully coordinate with a variety of project stakeholders, peers and management levels
• Working knowledge of office productivity software such as MS Word and MS Excel
• Must be able to pass an in-depth government background check (Public Trust)
• May occasionally be required to work an alternate schedule such as nights/weekends to meet the needs of the construction project
• Must be able to pass drug screening

- Appropriate Degree or equivalent industry standard qualification – ideally in Engineering (Civil, mechanical or electrical
- Demonstratable experience of construction management skills, working on construction projects, particularly Solar PV
- Experience of Construction Project Management
- Understanding and experience of delivering good health and safety practice
- Experience of working in a project team effectively to deliver the project goals and objectives
- Genuine interest in renewable energy

As a Quality Control Manager, you will ensure the project is built within contract document specifications, owner requirements, and comply with local, state, and federal building codes. You will coordinate with other trades, process daily reports of project progress and adhere to all guidelines issued by the owner. As a strong communicator, you will help to build a quality control team that is open, transparent, and delivers excellence.  

 

Responsibilities

• Partner with the project team to understand, plan, and implement the contract drawings and specifications

• Collaborate  with the owner, design team, and contractors to ensure quality and timeliness of project construction and completion

• Implement and manage the “Three Phases of Control” Quality Control Plan

• Oversee submittal review and approval

• Schedule and conduct quality control meetings - Preparatory, Initial Phase, Follow-up

• Control documents related to quality control functions

• Establish testing procedures in accordance with contract specifications

• Manage inspections process

• Coordinate third party testing agents and interface with the Owner’s representatives as required

• Closely track and maintain a project deficiency log

• Manage the punch list process

• Oversee project closeout deliverable process-training, O&Ms

• Confer directly with the executive management team

• Encourage, lead, and/or participate in staff training and development

• Proactively identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate and win the right work

• Take an active role in recruiting top industry talent to join the Clark team. Identify, hire, and retain outstanding people

• Exceed our stakeholders’ expectations by anticipating their needs, desires, and goals

 Basic Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a construction or related discipline or relevant experience

• Minimum 5-8+ years verifiable construction quality control and/or inspection experience

• Takes initiative and personal responsibility to always deliver value and excellence

• Uses expertise to create a vision and aligns the team to deliver/achieve desired outcomes

• A track record of establishing/contributing to creative strategic solutions  

• Ability to communicate effectively with, persuade, and gain “buy-in” from, a broad range of stakeholders (e.g., executive team, leadership team, Business Unit Leaders, direct reports, clients, trade partners, and third party providers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large scale construction management or construction trade with increasing levels of responsibility

• Must be able to manage other inspectors and submittal clerks, as well as coordinate independent material testing and lab work 

• Ability to process a large volume of submittals / RFIs

• Prior experience developing and managing Quality Control Plans
