The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, and providing strategic guidance on financial matters. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure financial compliance and efficiency, as well as supporting the executive team with financial planning and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
• Analyze financial data and present insights to the management team.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information to stakeholders.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Develop and manage the company’s annual budget and financial forecasts.
• Monitor actual performance against budget, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
• Support departments in preparing their budgets and forecasts.

Accounting Operations:

• Oversee the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions and records.
• Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting.

Compliance and Audits:

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
• Coordinate external audits and work closely with auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes.
• Manage tax reporting and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Cash Flow Management:

• Monitor cash flow and manage cash reserves to ensure the company’s financial stability.
• Develop strategies for effective cash management and optimize working capital.

Financial Analysis:

• Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost analysis, and investment analysis.
• Provide strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections.

Strategic Planning:

• Collaborate with senior management in developing long-term financial strategies.
• Provide financial insights to support business growth and expansion initiatives.
• Participate in the development of corporate strategies and plans.

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure team members are trained on accounting standards and financial procedures.
• Conduct performance evaluations and support career development for team members.

Risk Management:

• Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure that the company has adequate insurance coverage and risk management policies in place.

Systems and Process Improvement:

• Evaluate and implement financial systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Continuously seek ways to improve financial processes and reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or similar certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a full set of accounts, including the preparation and filing of all taxes.
• Generate statements of accounts and aging reports.
• Ensure accurate, prompt, and up-to-date system entries.
• Execute day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording account data.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Direct collection activities and credit term evaluation.
• Maintain the cash book to ensure funds are accurately recorded.
• Handle all taxation issues.
• Submit COGNOS reports as required by HQ.
• Liaise with bankers for banking-related matters.
• Prepare management reports and liquidity forecasts.

Requirements:

• Minimum-8 years of working experience in accounting.

We are looking for an Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager who will support within this accounting and financial reporting team in the Milton Keynes office. You will be required to assist the Department Head in day-to-day management as well as managing your own portfolio of not-for-profit clients. You will take an active role in the growth of the department through identification of opportunities and associated business development activities.
You'll make an impact by:

• Managing a portfolio of not-for-profit clients, always providing a premium service, whilst taking an active role in the growth of the department through the identification of opportunities and associated business development activities.
• Providing GAAP support and advisory services to clients, supporting (non-Audit) clients through their audit process.
• Having a strong awareness of FRS102, FRS101 and Companies Act reporting requirements.

• ACA or ACCA fully qualified, with at least three years PQE and one year experience of managing a full portfolio of clients.

• Experience of managing a portfolio of clients within the not-for-profit sector.
