JOB SUMMARY
At the Youth Leadership Development (Uni-Y) department, we focus on developing and empowering youths to be servant leaders who will impact both our local and international communities through our service clubs, University-YMCA (Uni-Y). Uni-Y has presence in NTU, NUS, SMU and SUTD, and through the various volunteering programmes and initiatives, Uni-Y advocates for children, youths, migrant workers and youth mental wellness, championing and developing youth to stand up and be counted as independent and effective contributors to an inclusive society.
As an Executive, you will play a pivotal role in:
- Managing and developing youth service clubs in tertiary institutions, known as University-YMCA (Uni-Y), to nurture servant leaders and community champions. This role involves high level of interaction with young adults
- With the evolving youth landscape, you will also be involved in the curation of the YMCA youth hub space to make it more welcoming for youths, whilst planning for activities to engage youths aged 15 – 25 years old.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate work plan formulation for Uni-Y service clubs.
- Develop and execute marketing materials to promote Uni-Y service clubs.
- Lead & mentor Uni-Y ExCo members, as well as strengthen the Christian development aspect of the clubs.
- Develop and implement the clubs’ flagship programmes, Community Service programmes, Mental Wellness initiatives and Alumni engagement, with the objectives of creating positive social impact and developing youth leaders.
- Cultivate and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders including institutions of higher learning (IHLs) to facilitate seamless collaboration and to support club development and sustainability.
- Design and implement training programmes to equip Uni-Y members and volunteers in their leadership skills and competencies for their leadership term.
- Oversee the administrative responsibilities of the club which includes volunteer management, fiscal management and reviewing of SOPs to ensure club sustainability and development.
- Curate the youth hub space to increase the awareness of the organization’s focus on youth development.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or diploma holder in any discipline, with 3 years of working experience preferably with youths or in the social service sector.
- Applicant must be a high-energy individual who possesses a passion for youth development; having past mentoring experiences will be an advantage.
- Applicant preferably have past experience managing a club or formal group that is made up of youth (15-25 years old), or managing youth-related programmes; good understanding of membership/ volunteer/ club management will be an advantage.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) - applicant is expected to be highly interactive as he/she will be working closely with youth volunteers and key stakeholders, and be to communicate effectively in both speech and writing.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovate, and adapt to changing priorities and environments.
- Leadership and supervisory qualities – applicant must be a self-starter who is able to demonstrate competency in his/her thought process.
- Event management skill – applicant must be able to conceptualise, organize and execute events effectively, foresee potential challenges and plan for contingencies, manage manpower, and able to adapt to unexpected changes during actual event execution.
- Marketing skills – applicant with an interest in developing and executing marketing materials to create awareness of the club and to promote her activities via social media platforms such as Instagram will be an advantage.
- Working on Saturdays and weekday nights are required occasionally, due to the job nature and students’ availabilities
