PAWS has been formed from the merger of Pathology Services at Salford Royal Hospital and Wigan, Wrightington and Leigh Hospitals.

The post is based atSalford, but you may be required to work at other sites.

Biomedical Support Workers in Specimen Reception are required to provide support to Blood Sciences and other departments in Pathology. The duties are varied and include entering patient data into the laboratory IT system, assisting with the laboratory handling of most types of specimens and help with some analytical processes and perform general clerical work.

It is important to note that you will be required to participate in the laboratory rota, which requires delivery of a 24/7 service. This post involves working late shifts i.e. 12.00-20.00, 14.00-22.00 and night shifts as part of the department’s commitment to out of hours cover.

The main duty for this role is entering patient data into the Pathology IT system, assisting with the laboratory handling of most types of specimens and working on the track system. Other tasks include daily maintenance of laboratory equipment, maintaining laboratory archive systems, and general housekeeping tasks. There is a requirement to be able to lift heavy objects such as boxes and waste and to be able to push trolleys.

We require someone who is conscientious and capable of careful and accurate work with excellent customer care and communication skills. Good and accurate data entry skills are also required along with basic standards of numeracy and literacy. Previous laboratory experience may be an advantage but is not essential.

Attendance of mutli agency meetings with senior staff, such as discharge planning meetings, case conferences and meetings as required whilst ensuring that all relevant information is exchanged and communicated to the appropriate participants and agencies.



The staff member must be able to recognise and monitor acute exacerbations of illness and to initiate appropriate nursing interventions that will maintain the safety of the child.



The post holder will support the team leader to develop, deliver and evaluate care packages.

We are looking to recruit a Consultant Dermatopathologist or Consultant Histopathologist with a special interest in reporting skin samples.

Applicants will demonstrate a commitment to Dermatopathology either via experience, possession of the Diploma in Dermatopathology from the RCPath or equivalent qualification, or a commitment to develop such skills to the level indicated above.



You will join a dynamic and experienced team of three monospecialist Dermatopathologists delivering high quality diagnostic Dermatopathology services to Dermatology and Plastic Surgery departments at Salford Royal Hospital and Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, as well as specialist reporting services to nearby Trusts. With this expansion of the team, you would become part of one of the largest Dermatopathology departments in the United Kingdom.

The Cellular Pathology department at Salford is a strong team of Consultants with additional subspecialisms including neuropathology and upper gastrointestinal pathology. Digital pathology will be implemented in the near future as part of a Greater Manchester wide strategy.

Dissection is provided by an experienced team of advanced biomedical scientist and staff grade colleagues.

The PMO Manager is responsible for administering the change portfolio such that cost, quality, plan, time and benefits realisation are controlled and achieved, ensuring that all projects adhere to the best practices and standard approaches for project management.

Operationally, the PMO Manager is responsible for providing information to enable project prioritisation, management information, financial reporting, resource planning, decision-making, and recruitment. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse to join our team on Ward L4 at Salford Royal Hospital. L4 is a 24 bedded, mixed gendered acute general medical ward that cares for a range of patients throughout their journeys. The team offers physical and emotional support to all patients from admission to discharge. Our aim is to improve the patient journey, by providing a safe environment for all our patients.

The acute care setting can be challenging but very rewarding. L4 is a fast paced working environment which gives staff the opportunity to use multiple transferable skills to provide the highest level of care to all of our patients. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced, and enthusiastic Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join the division of Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN) based within the Neuro-medical directorate and with a particular interest in Neuromuscular conditions.

Ideally educated to Masters level, you will be expected to practice autonomously at an advanced level in the delivery of high quality, safe and supportive care to Neurology patients. You will provide clinical assessment and support for a diverse and undetermined caseload of patients whilst developing an advanced knowledge of medical neurosciences.

MCCN is one of the busiest neuroscience units in the UK with outstanding clinical care given to patients across a range of conditions. It includes the specialities of Neurosurgery, Neurology, Stroke, Spinal surgery and Neuropsychology.

The successful applicant will have a role in the clinical assessment of patients, working autonomously to assess the clinical situation, assessing symptoms determining a working diagnosis and appropriate management plan.

The successful applicant will be well supported by an experienced group of Neurology Specialist Nurses and Neurology Consultants and will be allocated a clinical supervisor. They will also work alongside medical colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team. Evidence based care will be integral to their clinical practice, ensuring that best practice is disseminated.

Come and join our expanding Interventional Radiology Team in the newly created Radiology Day Case Unit!

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team alongside radiologists, radiographers and nurses, to provide high quality care in a busy and demanding environment.

The role of the interventional radiology clinical support worker is to provide high quality care to all of our patients and their relatives while they are within the radiology department by using a range of skills.

These include:
• Facilitate patient transport to and from the department.
• Provide therapeutic patient care during interventional procedures
• Work closely with the consultant radiologists during certain interventional lists.
• Stocking up of clinical areas, including stock rotation
• Act as a circulating assistant within the radiology day case unit and angiography suite.
