The Opportunity…
As our next Financial Control Manager, you'll collaborate closely with the finance planning and reporting, cost consolidation, and project control teams, utilising their abilities in supporting generating the financial analytics, management information, and reporting necessary for success. By partnering with the Programme Leadership team, you'll work to optimise financial performance and maximise return on investment for shareholders, providing regular insights and leading financial reviews of the programme.

What you’ll be doing…
As a Financial Controls Manager, you'll offer insightful analysis and commentary to both internal and external stakeholders. You'll be responsible for reviewing planning, budgeting, and forecasting, with a focus on challenging assumptions, ensuring quality, and maintaining consistency. Additionally, you'll advise the Programme Leadership Team on shaping the strategic direction to achieve long-term financial objectives, while identifying potential risks and cost-saving opportunities. Additional roles and responsibilities include:
- Ensure project financials are aligned with committed expenditure and the approved base budget for each project or program area.
- Actively participate in monthly project review meetings with key stakeholders across all delivery areas to assess financial performance, collaborating with the Commercial team to ensure consistent reporting across the HPC project.
- Lead the development of proactive financial analytics, offering recommendations and support to drive informed program decisions.
- Define and monitor financial KPIs, setting performance targets aligned with business strategy and planning, and intervening when necessary.
- Lead financial review meetings within the program or function to identify, investigate, and mitigate risks, issues, and opportunities, while agreeing on interventions and management actions to optimise performance.
- Provide coaching to the business on how to interpret and act on financial reports and information effectively.
- Support negotiations with external parties, including supplier contracts, service providers, and regulatory bodies, to safeguard NNB's financial position.

Being able to balance competing demands, and a customer-focused approach are essential. Your problem-solving skills, blending logic and intuition, will drive solutions that benefit both finance and the business. With strong commercial acumen and analytical expertise, you'll present complex financial and business ideas clearly, tailored to your audience. Additionally, solid decision-support experience is key to your success.
We’re also looking for you to hold the below:
- Strong commercial and business acumen with hands-on experience driving performance.
- Qualified accountant with credentials from a recognised UK Professional Organisation (e.g., ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA).
- Proven track record in managing, supporting, and challenging performance and internal relationships.
- Familiarity with tools such as SAP, Anaplan, PowerBI, and ECOSYS is a plus.
- Knowledge of industry trends and a solid grasp of external factors impacting the business.
- Exemplifies leadership behaviours and embodies HPC values.
- In-depth expertise in financial processes, ensuring smooth operations.
- Skilled in negotiation and compromise, with a knack for constructively challenging assumptions and business performance.
