Provide support to the nursing staff by Explaining treatment and procedures by means of play. To act as an escort when patients move to other departments, within the scope of the role. Assist with feeding if appropriate, within the scope of the role. To provide diversional therapy when a child is undergoing a procedure e.g. having a blood test. 1.13. To observe a personal duty of care in selecting and monitoring of play resources and to maintain and store play equipment in accordance with Trust Health and Safety Standards and Infection Control Policies. To ensure that all play equipment is maintained safely and that the play room/play areas are kept clean and tidy giving attention to the needs of immunosuppressed /compromised children. 1.14. Provide leadership and advice (related to role) or demonstrate own activities or workplace routines to new or less experienced employees in own work area. 1.15. To document and commission accurately all relevant interventions carried out in patient records in order to inform the wider MDT. 1.16. To be responsible for organising educational placements for students on early year and childhood study courses and liaise with the college tutor to provide written and verbal reports and evaluation on the student. 1.17. To liaise with other departments within the hospital promoting an awareness of play requirements and provision required for paediatric patients in other areas e.g. Plaster room, ultra-sound scanning, x-ray arranging appropriate resources as necessary. 1.18. To liaise with organisations such as Starlight Foundation to nominate children for wishes and to organise these with children and families. 1.19. To respect the individuality, cultural and religious diversity of patients and their families and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs. 1.20. To undertake mandatory training on an annual basis. 1.21. Participate in the yearly appraisal process for own appraisal and identify own learning needs. 1.22. Organise childrens entertainment programme for monthly visiting entertainers and celebrations as necessary. 1.23. To arrange rostering of the Play staff to provide cover for the in-patient, out-patient needs and to incorporate relevant study days, on a rotational basis with colleagues 1.24. Provide an input into paediatric oncology services Assist with continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient care. Assist in providing pastoral care for patients, siblings and parents e.g. Holidays, make-a-wish, Starlight foundation. To assist in the social preparation and support for specific procedures e.g. Introduction of central venous access devices, finger prick testing. To distribute and work with the Bead programme through Beads of Courage showing the journey being undertaken at this stage of their lives. On request, participate in MDT meetings and give feedback on patients when requested.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Müller Yogurts and Desserts in a new upcoming Apprentice role as a Laboratory Technician. We are growing fast and we need future technologists, scientists and leaders to grow with us!

We focus on continuous learning to develop not only our business but our people. This Apprenticeship program is an opportunity for you to learn about every aspect of our laboratory’s. As an apprentice at Müller, you will get full support, development and training to become one of our Laboratory Technicians. In this role, you will perform effective and high quality analysis in our state of the art laboratory on a variety of exciting brand names and customer products such as Müller Corner, Müller Rice and Müller Light, all following given methods and procedures to produce accurate and timely analytical results.

You will be working at one of our three dairy locations all based in Shropshire and specifically Market Drayton or Telford. Your development journey will be strategically guided by Müller Yogurts and Desserts Quality teams to give you a thorough learning of all aspects of the business operation.


What’s in the Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship?

As an apprentice Laboratory Technician at Müller Yogurt & Desserts you will learn how to:

- Assist with the decontamination of equipment, learn about waste management processes and procedures and how to undertake this effectively.
- You will be taught how to stock check many of our general consumable stores and the re-ordering process and how to allocate bar codes as requested by our scientists for importing into the Chemical Inventory.
- In addition you will have the opportunity to discover general lab equipment maintenance methods and/or how to coordinate engineers for repairs and servicing of equipment in conjunction with our scientists.
- It’s a hands on role as you will be able to assist in the preparation of reagent/buffers, register and record Fixed Asset Numbers on new equipment purchases and recording them on our internal systems.
- You will need to learn about maintenance, a tidy workplace and Health and safety processes and procedures to ensure you work safely within our labs.

What You will Need?


- GCSE Grade C and above in Maths, English & Science (or EU equivalent)
- Flexibility to stay and travel to accommodation for the purpose of project work or learning activities at other Müller sites work (expenses will be covered)
- Full UK Driver’s License is preferred
- Must be over 16 years of age
- Must not be engaged in other full time education
- Must be living in the UK


What to Expect?

- Hours: A full time role of 40 hours / week with some potential to experience shift working.
- Pay: £18,500 salary, with an increase after successful completion of your first year on the apprenticeship programme. Internal Müller applicants will remain on their current salary terms.

Trainee Dairy Technologist: Müller Foundation Degree Apprenticeship Programme

We’re recruiting Level 5 Apprenticeship Dairy Technologists for our Milk and Ingredients and Yogurt & Desserts sites nationwide. Technologists are at the heart of our operations, providing specialist dairy skills across production, process manufacturing and technical areas of our dairies.

About Müller:
In 1971 Theobald Alfons Müller took over the running of his father’s dairy farm in Bavaria, and all four of its employees. Fast forward sixteen years to 1987 and the Müller brand, which has rapidly expanded since, entered the UK market for the first time.
Today Müller is one of the nation’s favourite dairy brands, sourcing milk from 1,300 farmers in Britain to develop, manufacture and market a wide range of branded and private label dairy products for the UK market.

Müller Milk & Ingredients which aims to build a better dairy future. It produces branded and private label fresh milk, cream, butter, milk drinks and ingredients products and boasts a network of dairies and depots servicing customers throughout the country.

Müller Yogurt & Desserts which aims to help put a smile on the nation’s face. It produces chilled desserts under licence from Mondelez International and also supplies the UK private label yogurt market from a dedicated, state of the art yogurt facility.

A bit about this role:
As a dairy technologist you will be trained through the Dairy technology foundation degree apprenticeship, in partnership with Reaseheath College.

The program is designed to develop top class dairy technical skills future Muller professionals for our Process, Continuous Improvement, Production, Quality and Automation functions.

As a dairy technologist apprentice you will be working across our UK dairies, directly with our operations team, gaining hands on experience and training across our production, process and technical departments.

You will be given responsibilities through involvement in various activities, such as

- audits
- product testing
- operating production lines
- executing projects across technical, manufacturing and sustainability

The training will commence September 2024 and will be delivered via a blended approach of distance learning, and two 2 week periods of release for hands on practical training in a purpose built state of the art training facility at Reaseheath College. The remaining time will be spent putting the know-how to practice and good use in the business
- all supported and nurtured by workplace mentors and academic coaches
Advanced Dairy Technologist Degree
The responsibilities of this programme are preformed within the framework of the Apprenticeship standard (Ref: ST0393 V:02) The degree will cover the following, and much more!

- Milk production and chemistry.
- Milk microbiology.
- Principles of dairy process, engineering and automation.
- New product development
- Legislation and guidelines applicable to manufacture of dairy products
- Continuous Improvement
- Environmental sustainability and waste management
- Product quality testing and sensory evaluations

Requirements:

- A minimum of 3 GCSEs in Maths, English and a Science plus 1 A level or equivalent, preferably in a science field.
- Flexibility to stay and travel to accommodation for the purpose of project work, site support and college block release (expenses will be covered)
- Full UK Driving Licence is preferred
- 17 years of age and over
- Must not be engaged in other full time education
