We’re recruiting Level 5 Apprenticeship Dairy Technologists for our Milk and Ingredients and Yogurt & Desserts sites nationwide. Technologists are at the heart of our operations, providing specialist dairy skills across production, process manufacturing and technical areas of our dairies.
About Müller:
In 1971 Theobald Alfons Müller took over the running of his father’s dairy farm in Bavaria, and all four of its employees. Fast forward sixteen years to 1987 and the Müller brand, which has rapidly expanded since, entered the UK market for the first time.
Today Müller is one of the nation’s favourite dairy brands, sourcing milk from 1,300 farmers in Britain to develop, manufacture and market a wide range of branded and private label dairy products for the UK market.
Müller Milk & Ingredients which aims to build a better dairy future. It produces branded and private label fresh milk, cream, butter, milk drinks and ingredients products and boasts a network of dairies and depots servicing customers throughout the country.
Müller Yogurt & Desserts which aims to help put a smile on the nation’s face. It is responsible for major brands like Müller Corner, Müllerlight, Müller Bliss, Müller Rice, Müller FRijj and Müller Plant Based. It produces chilled desserts under licence from Mondelez International and also supplies the UK private label yogurt market from a dedicated, state of the art yogurt facility.
A bit about this role:
As a dairy technologist you will be trained through the Dairy technology foundation degree apprenticeship, in partnership with Reaseheath College.
The program is designed to develop top class dairy technical skills future Muller professionals for our Process, Continuous Improvement, Production, Quality and Automation functions.
As a dairy technologist apprentice you will be working across our UK dairies, directly with our operations team, gaining hands on experience and training across our production, process and technical departments.
You will be given responsibilities through involvement in various activities, such as
- audits
- product testing
- operating production lines
- executing projects across technical, manufacturing and sustainability
The training will commence September 2024 and will be delivered via a blended approach of distance learning, and two 2 week periods of release for hands on practical training in a purpose built state of the art training facility at Reaseheath College. The remaining time will be spent putting the know-how to practice and good use in the business
- all supported and nurtured by workplace mentors and academic coaches
Advanced Dairy Technologist Degree
The responsibilities of this programme are preformed within the framework of the Apprenticeship standard (Ref: ST0393 V:02) The degree will cover the following, and much more!
- Milk production and chemistry.
- Milk microbiology.
- Principles of dairy process, engineering and automation.
- New product development
- Legislation and guidelines applicable to manufacture of dairy products
- Continuous Improvement
- Environmental sustainability and waste management
- Product quality testing and sensory evaluations

You will receive :
- Level 5 Apprenticeship AND a Foundation Degree in Dairy Technology from the University of Chester
- Level 3 Food Safety
- Level 3 HACCP
- Level 3 Health and Safety
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 GCSEs in Maths, English and a Science plus 1 A level or equivalent, preferably in a science field.
- Flexibility to stay and travel to accommodation for the purpose of project work, site support and college block release (expenses will be covered)
- Full UK Driving Licence is preferred
- 17 years of age and over
- Must not be engaged in other full time education
- Must be living in the UK What to Expect?
- Hours: A full time role of 40 hours / week
- Pay: competitive salary. Internal Muller applicants will remain on their current salary terms.

- Due to the nature of our work we are a 24/7 operation so there will be an expectation of shift work, nights and weekend.
