This Operational Engineer - SAP (33kV) will report to the Lead Operational Engineer and will work within UK Power Networks Services Projects East based in our Bury St Edmunds office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary of £76,229 plus car and a bonus of 3%

If you do not have all relevant competencies for the core grade (minimum of HNC electrical engineering), it will be appropriate to appoint at a lower grade until you have developed the required competencies.

Job Purpose:
The role of the Operational Engineer is to execute engineering tasks within their designated Operational team. As a member of the Projects East team, you will ensure safety and operational excellence while working on DNO and private networks throughout UKPN's EPN and SPN regions. Your primary focus will be on 33kV SAP operations, but will also encompass 11kV tasks.
To act as a deputy for the Lead Operational Engineer, this includes attending meetings with Clients and Contractors.
The Operational Engineer will collaborate with and support the Client Delivery Manager and Lead Operational Engineer in achieving our objectives, identifying future budgets, and ensuring their implementation. You will work alongside other Engineers, Technicians, Apprentices, and Contractors to carry out construction or maintenance tasks safely and efficiently, causing minimal disruption to our clients' electricity supplies.
The Operational Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of Client-centric Capital works Construction projects and maintenance plans as instructed by the Lead Operational Engineer. This includes managing the construction and maintenance of substations and cabling on designated Client private and DNO network infrastructures. You will collaborate with team members to ensure that safety management is upheld during all engineering activities, in line with the UK Power Networks Services Stay Safe initiative.
Principal Accountabilities:
Manage the construction of large and medium-sized infrastructure projects, as well as smaller connections and CiC schemes.
Oversee the Construction and Maintenance programs for UK Power Networks Services' assets, operating at voltages ranging from 11/33kV to 400V.
Collaborate with the Lead Operational Engineer to ensure all work programs are completed on time and within budget, adhering to contractual commitments regarding time, cost, and quality.
Work with Technicians, Jointers, and Apprentices to ensure the delivery of the engineering tasks is up to the expected standards.
