THE OPPORTUNITY:

In this role, you will be responsible to lead the Warm-Water aquatic Animal Health R&D operations, both people and facilities in Singapore in line with regulations (GLP, GMP, SHE, Local/International). You will be accountable for the operations and related tasks required to support the research and development leading to the timely launch of commercially viable vaccine and therapies.

As Legal Representative you will report to the Global Species Head, and a dotted line to the Director Aqua R&D. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the daily management of the Company. You shall perform the work in line with that which is usual practice for a Managing Director pursuant to rules and regulations. You shall continuously inform the Global Species Head and if required the Country Counsil concerning the leadership of the undertaking, the Company's financial situation and the Company's affairs in other respects and provide such an account and information as requested and you shall implement any necessary measures to ensure that the Company's accounts are in accordance with applicable legislation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Lead the R&D operational team; maintains, within guidelines, an inclusive culture within the site that motivates employees by providing good communication and a positive team environment
• Direct and manages organizational aspects of the site to develop staff with expertise and know-how for all necessary operations. Manages the organization to fulfil all vital functions by personnel including selection, hiring and development of staff.
• Be responsible for all site assets from budgeting, procurement, maintenance, use and retirement to optimized efficiency of use
• Maintain a GLP quality system for all R&D activities and, ensure adherence to Company and local EHS standards and adherence to Animal Welfare requirements throughout
• Supervise and is end responsible for Quality control activities and Quality Assurance on site (Qualified Person).
• Might be asked to participate in R&D discussions and activities.

REQUIREMENTS

• Candidates should possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent work experience) in Biology, Veterinary Science and related fields with 5+ years’ experience in a pharmaceutical R&D position – preferentially fish vaccine development, fish diseases or aquatic veterinary practices. Relevant experience (3+ year) in leading an R&D team and/or R&D projects is regarded a pre.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Job scope:

• To autonomously organize, conduct, co-ordinate, and lead research project(s) and to perform all necessary experiments to design, develop or improve vaccines, vaccination strategies and veterinary products for tropical fish aquaculture.
• To ensure the fastest possible development of products whilst ensuring the quality standards and a high level of performance confidence of the product developed.
• To determine, in conjunction to research management, the lines and approaches for product development in his/her own field of expertise.
• To initiate new projects proposal and business cases
• To support transfer to production and registration of new products
• To function as study director or principal investigator for clinical studies
• To support lab operations when required

Responsibilities:

• Recognized as a technical expert and scientific contributor, functions as research leader for (multiple) projects.
• Plans, coordinates, and prioritizes activities of project team in view of priorities, resources, and overall efficiency.
• Maintains up to date with the scientific developments and literature within his/her expertise fields.
• Is or strives to become the company expert for the diseases and products he/she works on.
• Controls and is the main responsible for the progress of projects.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE

Qualifications:

• PhD from a recognized university in the field of bacteriology, virology, or immunology, preferably involving the study of fish diseases.
• More than 5 years of relevant experience in a professional research environment
• Practical knowledge of bacteriology, virology, immunology, or vaccine development required.
• Thorough knowledge of fish biology, fish immunology and fish pathogens are advantageous.
