This position is based within an office in Matlock but there will be the opportunity for hybrid working once you have completed your training. The successful candidate will work in the Specialised Transport section, which procures and manages home to school transport services for students with special needs and disabilities. This front-line service is responsible for organising the transport arrangements for approximately 1700 students with additional needs, to schools and establishments in Derbyshire and further afield.

The successful candidate will support the wider team and work as a team player. They must be able to organise and prioritise their own workload as well as demonstrate administrative and IT competency. They will be effective communicators both in writing and on the telephone. Experience of Word, Excel and Outlook is essential and experience of bespoke IT systems and EDRM is desirable.

Purpose of the RoleThe Mechanical Project Supervisor will manage building and maintenance projects, providing technical specialist advice in Mechanical Building Services Engineering. What Will Your Day Look Like?

• Understand KN working processes to enable effective process mapping and documentation of processes to enable and facilitate understanding;
• Produce documented working instructions using KN Standards for all customers;
• Support maintenance of above KN standard documentation within KN Docs;
• Working closely with our process engineering community you will be sharing the responsibility to develop your knowledge and experience around continuous improvement tools and techniques to enable personal, system and operator development, to improve outcomes and efficiency within all aspects of our road logistics operations;
• Working closely with our department leaders, managers and supervision to agree the documented processes and working instructions are fit for purpose and in a position to handover to the operational community, to allow those communities to become self-auditing and self-sufficient in the management and revision of those documents;
• Create and Support analytical investigations, based on the previously documented processes and working instructions, to identify opportunities to improve through changes of process flow and automation opportunities;
• To identify and escalate any non-conformances identified and support the generation of solutions/Improvement IT specifications to resolve non-conformances and facilitate continuous improvements as required, through structured problem identification and solving processes;
• Project Administration, Project Trackers, support, co-ordination;

• Managing/co-ordinating Transition;
• Flexibility to adjust and adapt as necessary to support business priorities.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

• Experienced within the logistics industry having knowledge and experience of Transport Management Systems within the field of Customer Service / Operations / Finance / Customs;
• Computer literate and familiar with using MS Office applications, including MS Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Visio or similar, would be desirable;
• Confident with time management, planning and working independently to prioritize and deliver agreed goals, to agreed timescales and maintain progress within Performance Management System platform or similar;
• Confident and experienced with analytical skills using data to drive positive decision making.

Mott Macdonald Bentley (MMB) is the design and build unit of global engineering consultancy Mott Macdonald. We are currently looking to recruit a Civil Engineer to work as a Project Leader to help support us in delivering work within our Rolls-Royce framework.

We believe the best engineering projects are delivered by engineers, so we combine the technical Engineer role with some aspects of the traditional Project Manager role into a single, Project Leader role.

What does a Project Leader do day to day?

- Lead the design of various infrastructure projects through the outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover
- Undertake design work related to your discipline/area of expertise
- Coordinate the project team including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Process designers and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by each framework and industry specifications
- Work as part of a “Project triangle” alongside a Site Manager and Quantity Surveyor to ensure that technical, constructability and commercial aspects of project delivery are considered throughout.

Your new role
Attend Post-tender / Pre-contract review meetings with Clients & Main Contractors to discuss and agree contract scope along with both commercial and contractual matters.*
Post contract award carry out initial equipment checks alongside our design team and advise the design team of any concerns at the earliest opportunity to avoid any procurement / programming or financial implications later.

Post contract award develop equipment procurement and buying schedules for allocated contracts, along with sending out enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors based on received contract documents for completeness and for better buying purposes.

Place subcontract & material orders to satisfy the requirements of our contracts to satisfy technical, programme, cost and quality compliances.

Monitoring of site labour and keeping a record of site activities, numbers of operatives / sub-contractors on site and cost checks against the tender estimates
What you'll need to succeed
You will need to be an experienced Mechanical Project Manager from a Building Services Background
What you'll get in return
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 Depending on Experience
Office working hours: Mon- Fri inclusive 0800 - 1700hrs less 1hr lunch break. (Some flexibility around site meetings will however occasionally be required being a natural part of the job)
Holidays: 24 days plus 8 days Stats / annum
