Due to the growth of our Flood and Water Management [FWM] team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Director to join our business in our Manchester office. This is a full-time permanent role.

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Technical Director will provide leadership, governance, and direction, and contribute to the success of business plan and strategies. In addition, ensuring that the aspirations and needs of stakeholders are met including our customers, internal clients, and our employees.

Role & Responsibilities

* Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, adopting a collaborative partnership approach and negotiate with internal and external business partners, clients, and customers.

* Deliver and contribute to the success of business plans and strategies, developing, tracking, and securing new opportunities in the public and private sectors that will enable the FWM team to meet growth aspirations.

* Lead and mentor direct reports and teams of FWM engineers to support project delivery. Ensure that staff are provided with the appropriate information technology and appropriate training to maintain high-quality service delivery at all times.

* Report and contribute at operational team meetings and implement agreed management strategies and line manage up to six direct reports, undertaking annual appraisals to agree, monitor and measure performance targets.

* Manage programmes of work and deliver expert technical support, input, and services in the delivery of FWM projects including highway and public realm design schemes from inception to completion.

* Prepare and assist with bid submissions for new work [one-off projects and long-term framework contracts] that enable the business to meet growth aspirations. Provide commercial management, project programming, resource management, risk assessment, quality checking and delivery management, including authorisation of project work.

* Monitor utilisation of managed teams and take ownership of emerging issues with workload and pipeline. Provide leadership and direction with responsibility and accountability for ensuring quality products, consistent performance, best practice, and technical excellence.

* Proactively recruit and develop quality resources and assist in the management of resources and service delivery cross-regionally, working closely with other service leads. Arrange and attend formal and regular liaison meetings with colleagues to assist in the coordination of resources and activities across the company.

* Support regional financial performance through management of key accounts, debt management, project oversight, staff resourcing, resource scheduling and pipeline analysis.

The Role

The Senior Director, Technology Sales Advisory will collaborate directly with the larger JLL services sales organization by acting as a technology expert in all of the phases that lead to a client to an outsourcing buying decision. Our business model is an advisory lead, people business with responsibilities to our clients that cover all aspects of corporate real estate including facility management and portfolio services. Direct responsibilities include pre-sales technology solutions, pricing models, technology demonstrations, and client presentations. This role will be part of a global team, with a focus in the APAC region and travel up to 50% in APAC.

This is a senior-level role in our organization and will represent technology as a key differentiator in the sales process. This role exhibits a deep understanding of technology applications and the connectivity of those applications to form a holistic solution for our corporate real estate clients. This individual must be comfortable presenting to high-level decision-makers, demonstrating key functions of our technology applications, and collaborating with the sales team, delivery teams, and product management teams. 1. Client facing thought leadership.

b. Provide voice of the customer feedback from your role in the pre-sales function with the strategic product management group for continual product improvement, ideas sharing, and general collaboration.

c. Maintain knowledge of the competitive landscape across technology and competitors.

5. Pricing Models:

a. Understand current process, parameters and conditions to generate costs estimates for the purpose of qualification.

b. Develop and use tools to collect relevant information to generate accurate costs estimates.

6. Product Bid Response Efforts:

a. Participate in RFP response efforts which include collaborating on technical responses, example deliverables, system graphics training guides, and pricing exercises.

b. Make recommendations to the bid management team on improvements to proposal language and technical deliverables.

c. Attend sales pursuit debriefs to provide feedback on the sales cycle, team approach, win themes, and client engagement.

d. Manage competitive demands, while coordinating and producing meaningful technology solutions for our perspective clients.

The SDLC team delivers engineer-first, mission critical tooling across the entire cycle of source code, build, test, maintain and distribution. Our tools are used by all the Engineers of Goldman Sachs across all business units, and therefore the scope and reach of the impact of our engineering can be felt in all aspects of the organization.

As an SDLC Engineer

You will be working at the heart of the developer experience, ensuring the code that is written by thousands of GS engineers is versioned securely, reviewed expertly, compiles fast, tests comprehensively and is distributed widely. You will deliver CI/CD solutions that use modern tooling and software stacks. You could be working with cutting edge build technology, or the latest cloud native software and infrastructure in one or more languages including Java, Golang, and Python, or enabling and assisting our machine learning and AI tooling efforts.

SDLC Platforms include

• Build and Development using modern software stacks and methodologiesGitLab - The firm's strategic CI/CD platform, hosted in-house with instances on-premise and on public clouds
  In-house developed Continuous Deploy (CD) tools for safely and repeatably deploying software packages, configuration and Infrastructure as Code
• Distribution - Secure software distribution mechanisms on both Linux and Windows
• Artifact Repositories - Build artifact repositories hosting dynamic terabytes of internal and external software packages and industry standard asset repositories, kept up-to-date and well secured.

Responsibilities

• Key contributor to the design, implementation and execution of our next generation CI/CD instances with an emphasis on security, testing the capability to exceed industry standard performance and availability.
• Develop features and improvements to our CI/CD solution, working with the vendor provided software stacks to extend and enhance according to engineering platform requirements.
• Collaborate with Product Management and other stakeholders within Engineering to maintain and improve the functions and quality of service
• Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance
• Diagnose and solve technical problems, both within the core GitLab environment, and the broader SDLC ecosystem
• Metric gathering, analysis and reporting
• Reliability Engineering and operational resiliency

What you will learn when you join us

• Managing all sizes and scopes of software repositories, build systems and deployment paradigms

Skills and experience we are looking for

• A technical degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• 7+ years’ experience in software engineering
• Ability to use and familiarity with Git
• Professional experience with Cloud deployment patterns. Notably AWS and Hashicorp Terraform
• General knowledge of multiple languages, and in-depth strong programming skills of at least one of: Golang, Java, Python, C, C++, preferably in large scale financial or technical organization
• Highly knowledgeable about running key applications on Linux
• Knowledgeable about networking protocols and topology
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, understanding algorithms, data structures and software design
• Experience with all stages in the lifecycle and debugging of developing and running distributed systems
• Demonstrable track record of taking ownership of requirements and delivering value
